Elspa pokes her head in the four unexplored caves. They are really just 6 to 10 foot deep earthen alcoves dug into the rich soil of the jungle under an elevation. The walls are crawling with the roots of the trees above, and are also lined with heads in a variety of states of decomposition. Skulls are most common, but some are more recent. The care with which they were lined up in rows gives you the impression this is something of a shrine.
OOC:
Those searching for shelter: CancerMan, you suggested looking in the other caves OOC, so I'll get it started with that. A quick conversation with the group, who have seen several miles of the beach, reveals there is no particularly advantageous terrain along the coast. You could start exploring the sickly jungle for a better spot, or spend your time making a makeshift fortification by dragging debris to make cover, chokepoints, digging pit traps etc (this will definitely be a montage in the movie adaptation of our game).

Seeing the others unsure what to do, Frick opens the waterproof satchel and removes the map, "Anyone good with maps?"
Mar 9, 2017 1:48 am
Jarveena abesntmindedly scratches at the angry scar that covers half her face as her one good eye scans the map. "Where'd ye git thi'h? Look'h like we're on thi'h smaller isle here."
OOC:
Which smaller isle is that, based on what we've seen?

Jabes.plays.RPG says:

[ +- ] This one right here!
Since you have only been on the western shore so far, you have not seen anything on the east of your island.

Ygne, partway through her scavenging, steps over toward the others and speaks with an expression and tone that implies she has already completely forgotten about the past conflict, "Say, we should turn the tide on these lizardbeasts and sneak into their jungle and gut 'em all." She looks excited about the prospect.
Mar 10, 2017 4:10 pm
"That sounds good to me! Relieve some stress, kill some stinky trogs, who could ask for more?" Frick says with a maniacal gleam in his eye. You can't be sure that he's totally sane.
Mar 10, 2017 4:12 pm
Ygne looks at Frick's expression and gives it a measured glance. She then contorts her face for a moment, struggling with her expressions until she successfully adopts a similarly maddened look as Frick's, which seems fitting for what she's suggesting.

Elspa nods. "Might find better shelter further in," she says. "These caves would be good, but it doesn't feel right to sleep in a place with the chopped up bodies of my sisters.

"Besides,"
she adds, "I need to find some supplies." Elspa pats the side of her herbalism kit, now bereft of any useful supplies.

Jarveena nods her approval of Elspa's words. "First, we goan' burn th' remains o' our crew. Ain't righ jus' leavin' em stack'd like coconuts! Then we goan' kill us some trogs, build a boat, an' kiss this fucken isle g'bye!"

SALVAGING SUPPLIES:

Jarveena and Elspa join Ygne in searching the beach:

Elspa finds: (8) a few dented copper pots.
Jarveena finds: (52) a cloth-wrapped bundle of 20 arrows, wet but intact. Each arrow has a different curse word painted on the bronze head.

PUTTING THE DEAD TO REST

Let's assume you can salvage supplies while gathering dead bodies. There are a lot of bodies, so it will take everyone working together 2 hours to get the corpses together and set them ablaze. So, everybody can do two searching d100 rolls (Elspa, Jarveena, and Ygne already gave 1) and then we can move into the jungle with the dead bodies laid to rest. How does that sound?

Frick finds:

(7) a child's wooden puzzle of a dragon that missing a few pieces.
(12) two more dented copper pots. It's like the trading ship was carrying a ton of these.

Finders keepers.
Woo! More pots!

While everyone is rolling their d100s, let's prepare our characters to move into the jungle. We people to sign up for roles:

1. A navigator will make survival checks to make sure you don't get lost. YGNE
2. A tracker will try to find where the Trogs are going. JARVEENA
3. A sentry will look out for attacks and traps with their passive perception. FRICK
4. A cartographer will make a map that will help reduce the cost of getting lost (even better with cartography tools). RYTE
5. A forager gets to do a survival check to gather food and water so you don't have to use up your own supplies. ELSPA

You can leave any role unfilled except navigator. Multiple people can sign up for the same role; having one or more assistant can give advantage to rolling the ability checks for that role.

I'm assuming you'll be travelling at slow pace so you can stealth, but let me know if that's wrong.

Ryte's search comes up with:

(8) a few dented copper pots.
(46) the Sea Witch's flag tied to 50 ft. of hemp rope.
Mar 10, 2017 9:32 pm
Frick volunteers to keep an eye out for danger (It's the best way to get first crack at the trogs!)
OOC:
Sentry. Passive Perception: 14

Elspa keeps an eye about for edible plants and berries, and even signs of small game. She definitely looks for fresh water.
OOC:
Forager. I'll forgo looking for herbs this time, as food is more important to Elspa
.

Rolls

Survival - (1d20+4)

(6) + 4 = 10

Mar 10, 2017 9:52 pm
Ryte picks up the flag, tries to shake off most of the sand before walking over to the Jarveena "I...This probably has more value to you than it does to me and I image I'd get an arrow to my eye if I tried to keep it." with a somber smile, he holds out the flag for her to take.
OOC:
Cartographer.

Jarveena accepts the flag from Ryte. She says nothing but the gratitude is clearon her face.
OOC:
Tracker.

Rolls

Scavenging - (1d100)

(7) = 7

Tracking (Survival) - (1d20+2)

(8) + 2 = 10

That leaves Ygne as navigator. You'll have disadvantage on your wisdom (survival) check from your blurry vision. Slow speed gives advantage to navigation checks, so you'll even out. Go ahead and make that now. Don't worry about it, I've done it in the chapter two thread (hope that's okay).
