Deadpool, did you check out the resource I posted here?

Yeah I did. I already had the 2.0 version and another conversion plus a bookload of links to dark sun material...
I'm starting to feel like a hoarder lol

Hey everyone, I've made a new game called "Fallen Empires" and invited everyone. Feel free to come by and start building our setting together.

I'm starting a new game, using the Basic Fantasy RPG rules, if anyone is interested in joining up, please do! There are two spots available and the system is SUPER easy to learn and very much old school. Starting it because my 1e Temple of Elemental Evil game ended with a TPK, but some people wanted to play some more old school stuff.

I'll join if you still have a free spot

Sometimes, I just come back to this game to read up on all the crazy shit that we did!

Good times :)

Just so much of the back-and-forth interactions between the characters, really. Some fantastic RP in this game!

Yeah, so nifty. But unstable. I had a lot of PMs behind the scenes from some players who were not sure/uncomfortable about how people were reacting to their character's actions, for example.

My favorite parts:

- Frick doing some crazy crit on that undead shambling mound to save the day
- Ryte's death scene
- Rygnar wishing for Jarvena's life to be spared in the middle of combat.
- That whole fight on the beach with Elspa / Rygnar nearly dying while slaying so many
- Playing Auntie Zilla
- How MoMo used the combat environment descriptions to make such good sneak attack narratives. Best rogue ever.
- Deadpool's reveal and his story that we never really got to explore.

I think the 2 posts per day was a really good pace, although a little unsustainable at times. But it allowed for a pretty immersive experience.

Were those people PMing unsure if people were comfortable with their stuff, or was it an issue with them being uncomfortable with the content of other peoples' posts? I know the language and content of this game was pretty bad at some points. Very mature content warning when they make the movie for sure!

Two posts per day was great, though I doubt I'd be able to keep up with that any more, honestly.

I'll come back anytime to this game !! Such a great group !

I PMed Len a few times during the game because I was really worried that Ygne's behaviors were just annoying other players. I really hope that wasn't the only reason we didn't continue, though. It was a really great game.

I think it was mostly people wanted to make sure they weren't offending anyone else, or that people weren't taking things the wrong way. Yeah, I can't do 2 posts a day probably anymore. Back then, I was only running Isle of Dread and playing in only other game. And I thought I was maxed ... ha!

MoMo, you weren't the only one sending concerned PMs, and it definitely wasn't the reason we stopped the game. If anything, it shows what a good person and responsible roleplayer you are to be making sure that everyone else is having fun too. I'm really glad you popped back in here; I've been fortunate to see these guys around the forums quite a bit since Isle of Dread stopped, but I haven't seen you much - how ya doing?

Agreed, deadpool. This group is great, and I will always give preferential treatment if one of you asks to join a game I run. But I'm interested in different things now, and I suspect most of you are too.

However, I'd be down for running a gritty, tier 2 (level 5-10) adventure sometime in the future for as many of you as I could convince.

That's a relief. Despite my worrying, it was a really fantastic and fun game, and I loved the group a lot.

I've been well, though. Thanks for asking. Really busy. This was actually my first post (IC or OOC) on GP in a few months. Haven't been able to participate in anything because I started teaching full time and I'm still getting my bearings. Hopefully I'll free up a bit and be able to play in something with you guys again.

I'd certainly love to, if I free up enough to play on GP again.

Most definitely, MoMo! Ygne might of not been Rygnar's favorite (that spot is reserved for Elspa; surprisingly followed by a close second, Jarvena) but she was probably mine. I mean you have a 250-some pound giant made of nothing but muscle, blood, and anger then you have little Ygne willing to step on his toes, call him on his bullshit, and swat his nose like a puppy that made an accident. I absolutely LOVED their potential dynamic and would have liked if they could of been friends, or mutual associates at the very least.

I think the main reason this game was so intensely wonderful was because of all the drama and tension we had in character was canceled out by our concern of whether or not we were overstepping ooc. It was made known that the character's actions were strictly that; I don't think any of us were playing a character but the characters were playing us. We took them in and acted as they honestly would. Then, after posting, we'd snap out of it and realize how fucked in the head these people are and apologize for their actions.

I think I can honestly say, this is the only group that I'd drop my "no more new games until I pick up my old ones" rule.

This game is a PERFECT example of why I love PbP! I don't think it would be possible to reproduce a game like this in a face-to-face game. There was just too much description, RP that was just perfect, and so much interplay between the characters' varied personalities to do on the fly

I agree with you, this game is now (with Naatkinson's basic fantasy/pathfinder 2nd game) my favorite PbP game because of the groups we are playing with, how the characters can interact in good and bad ways and (as far as I know) all the players having a blast doing it that way. Now I have to admit I am lucky enough not only to have a group at home (close friends of more than 20 years) but I have played on PbP in not one but two games where the same kind of interactions and friendliness with people I have never meet in my life. So thank you guys for all that !!! Hope to still play with you for a long time...

Although I won't be resuming this game, if somebody else wanted to take up the GM mantle I'd happily transfer control of the game to you :)

Thank you for saying so, HypCo! It's really a big relief that you liked Ygne. I was always amazed at how well you RPed Rygnar's conviction. It was really amazing. I feel the same about wanting Ygne and Rygnar to eventually find a way to respect one another and be an awesome pair. I'll keep holding out hope that one day this gets picked up again and it can be so!

I very much agree that everyone seemed to play their characters to a T, and that this game is a great example of what's possible in PbP but very difficult to recreate in face-to-face games.
