Karabekian runs his hand over the tome's cover and binding...
OOC:
Does it have a title or a symbol on the cover?
...then cracks it open.

Karabekian gets a tingle of excitement as he touches the dust covered tome. Carefully he wipes the front cover to reveal the title, Liber Ivonis
Opening it up, it is clearly occult in nature and written entirely in Latin.

Much of it is so rotten and worm eaten that whole sections are illegible.

As Larry looks at the musty old journal, it begins to fall to pieces as he turns the pages, but the name Walter Corbitt catches his eye. An entry records that Walter Corbitt was buried in the basement of his house.

"In accordance with his wishes and the wishes of that one who waits in the dark."

Twins, trapped in the same head....
Jul 28, 2017 11:06 pm
"And you brave gents didn't want to check the rest of the house. This Corbitt fellow is buried in the basement!" Larry doesn't mention the one who waits in the dark part.
Jul 29, 2017 2:09 am
Well given the strangeness that had occurred in the house it's probably a damned good idea not to go down into the basement. Marc seems reluctant to continue but adds Do you think Corbitt's spirit is haunting the building?

"That's a distinct possibility. Something pushed me out that window. Does the journal mention this tome? I'm afraid I don't know sufficient Latin to make any sense of this. I may need to visit the library again."

Valentin stays up top to avoid putting all the eggs in one basket, so to speak.
Jul 30, 2017 4:27 pm
There is no discernible mention of the tome in what remains of the journal.
Jul 30, 2017 10:17 pm
"No mention of it. Let me look at the tome." Larry reaches for the tome and opens it up if it is in his possesion and tries to read a few pages.
OOC:
I know this won't go well, but thought I'd try.

As Larry reaches for the book from Karabekian's grasp, he manages to tear a few pages, not completely out, but down the middle. If this book has any monetary value, it's just been seriously compromised.
Jul 31, 2017 2:26 pm
The sound of tearing paper is accompanied by an audibly sharp intake of breath by Karabekian.
Jul 31, 2017 11:26 pm
"Oh my, the years have made it fragile, best I let you keep it..."
Aug 1, 2017 6:02 am
"Well then, gentlemen, do we think there's anything more to be gained here?"
Aug 1, 2017 6:54 am
It appears not. Let's just get out of here, I'm starting to get the creeps.

Captain Harper agrees and requests you drop him back at his office before you continue in your investigation.
OOC:
The player has been forced to leave unexpectedly but might be a possible contact to call on in the future.
Aug 3, 2017 9:52 pm
"Are we calling it a night then chaps?"
Aug 3, 2017 11:13 pm
"It would seem so," Karabekian says, cradling the tome. He prepares to ascend back to ground level.

Larry will fondly remember his brother Stephen, I wonder what ever happened to him... The when he gets home, will sit down and read The Corbitt Diaries thoroughly.

OOC:
