Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+1)

(7) + 1 = 8

OOC:
Ok. Half of you have beaten the initiative of the gallows-weed. Feel free to take actions. Fror and Gilly can free themselves on a DC12 STR check. Robin and Inar can also try a STR check (DC12) to free them. Or y'all can attack the vines with an edged weapon. (AC12). Once free, it's up to you guys if you want to remain in range / engaged or just get out of the way.

OOC:
Echo MoMo's question...didn't Gilly pass the check?

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+3)

(18) + 3 = 21

Oct 2, 2017 2:45 am
OOC:
Quite right! My mistake. The three of you are free. I had mentally swapped to a DC15 save rather than DC12. Thanks for double-checking me.

"Be careful!" Robin urges as he helps Gilly down. He dashes toward Fror and, drawing his dagger, attempts to help cut him down.

Rolls

Attack (Sneak attack) - (1d20+6, 1d4+4, 1d6)

1d20+6 : (14) + 6 = 20

1d4+4 : (2) + 4 = 6

1d6 : (2) = 2

Oct 2, 2017 7:30 pm
"Garn!!!" shouts Frór in frustration, "I knows what you need, you vile vine! A good pruning!

"Eh, Robin! Eh Gilly!"
the angry dwarf calls out as he drops his stick and mattock and reaches around for the hand axes at his belt, "Aren't your folk considered good gardeners? Can't you tame this crazy plant???"

And with that, he swings with his axes, hoping to cut himself free.

Rolls

main hand attack - (1d20+5, 1d6+3)

1d20+5 : (5) + 5 = 10

1d6+3 : (3) + 3 = 6

bonus action offhand attack - (1d20+5, 1d6)

1d20+5 : (10) + 5 = 15

1d6 : (3) = 3

Offhand disadvantage - (1d20+5)

(4) + 5 = 9

Oct 2, 2017 11:56 pm
"Thanks!" Gilly says with great relief, as she draws her shortsword and gives the vines a good thwack. Unfortunately, she doesn't use the sharp side and so doesn't do any harm to them.

Fror - as you're entangled you suffer disadvantage on attacks -- can you roll again for your offhand (since it hit) - just in case?
Oct 3, 2017 6:16 am
Inar reaches into the mass of vines, grabbing Fror by the back of his tunic and tries to haul him out.

Rolls

Strength check - (1d20+4)

(14) + 4 = 18

"These are nothing like the weeds in the Shire!" Robin shouts, struggling with Fror's assailant.
Oct 4, 2017 2:20 am
Fror, caught up in the vines, thrashes about with his hand axes -- but to no avail. Although he's able to bat at the vines, they move around and make it difficult for the edges to take a bite out of this noxious weed. Robin, to his credit, dashes in and begins to hack away at the plant, and while he makes some inroads, it remains quite mobile and quite agitated, dodging Gilly's own efforts with her shortsword.

Inar -- choosing the direct route, manages to haul Fror out by the back of his tunic.

The weeds, now fully awakened to your presence, seem keen to keep trying. Fror's own plant makes a go for the dwarf again. The other plants nearby -- the three that were foiled -- also lean into each of the Fellowship, attempting to reassert control over the situation.

Gilly's assailant manages to grab hold of her once more bludgeoning her about a bit as it drags her away from Fror, Robin and Inar.
OOC:
Gilly is now restrained (DC12 to break) and takes 4 HP of damage.

Rolls

Constrict attack - (1d20+4)

(4) + 4 = 8

attack on Gilly - (1d20+4)

(18) + 4 = 22

attack on Inar - (1d20+4)

(7) + 4 = 11

Oct 4, 2017 7:42 am
"Oh, bugger!" Robin murmurs, rushing back toward Gilly to try and cut her free. He pulls his broadsword from its scabbard and cuts at the vines with both weapons.

Rolls

Attack 1 (broadsword) - (1d20+6, 1d8+4)

1d20+6 : (12) + 6 = 18

1d8+4 : (5) + 4 = 9

Attack 2 (Bonus Action, Dagger) - (1d20+6, 1d4)

1d20+6 : (16) + 6 = 22

1d4 : (1) = 1

Sneak Attack (apply to first hit, if any) - (1d6)

(4) = 4

"Gilly!" Inar shouts out, seeing Gilly being dragged towards the plant "Oh no you don't you..." he says as he lunges forwards trying to pull her from it's grip

Gilly shrieks in fear as the vines pull her in, and then again as Inar pulls her free. Landing on her feet once more, she takes a deep breath and pats the dwarf on the shoulder, "Thank you, Inar!" Then she charges in again to thwack at the vines with her sword.

"Durin's beard!" Frór shouts as his anger builds, "I'll chop you down to your roots!"
OOC:
the sone of Grór goes into a battle fury!

I think his main hand attack hits, so please add an additional +2 damage due to battle fury and disregard the offhand attack since his bonus action was already used for the fury. Sorry!

Rescuing Gilly and assaulting the plant that attacked her moves you out of immediate range of two of the nasty plants -- and your concerted efforts result in pieces of gallows-weed flying hither, tither and yon. A particularly large piece is flung towards Gilly, who ducks, but as a result, manages to miss landing a scathing blow on the vicious flora. Still, when all is said and done that specimen has been thoroughly whacked -- and it no longer twitches, or harasses Gilly. It looks properly pruned.

The other plant you're in range of reaches towards Fror and tries to grab hold of him... In his fury, he steps too close and finds himself constricted, once more, by one of the plants!
OOC:
Fror is now restrained (disadvantage on attack, DC12 strength to exit) and takes 4 HP of damage.
For their part, the other two plants stretch towards you --- but fail to reach you. So they quietly settle back down.

Rolls

Attack on Fror - (1d20+4)

(17) + 4 = 21

Oct 5, 2017 4:32 am
"Not this time!" grunts Frór as he strains against the woody, ropey, grasping vines.

Rolls

(8) + 5 = 13

Strength save with advantage for fury - (1d20+5)

(7) + 5 = 12

Finishing thwacking the severed piece of vine, Gilly nods decisively and moves to attack the one ensnaring her rescuer.

Rolls

shortsword attack - (1d20+5)

(12) + 5 = 17

dmg - (1d6+3)

(4) + 3 = 7

Seeing Fror has managed to mostly free himself from the grasping vines Inar draws his sword and lunges forwards at the plant, holding it in both hands he hacks again and again at the vines

Rolls

1d20+6 : (8) + 6 = 14

OOC:
I was waiting on Robin -- but perhaps he's out of pocket for the moment, so I'll go on his behalf.
Robin attacks with his two weapons again, striking at the plant now hassling Fror. The Hobbit appears somewhat masterful as he slices into the gallows-weed like a gardner on a mission...

Rolls

Broadsword (from robin's earlier roll) - (1d20+6)

(6) + 6 = 12

Dagger (from robin's earlier roll) - (1d20+6)

(16) + 6 = 22

Damage - (1d8+4, 1d4)

1d8+4 : (5) + 4 = 9

1d4 : (1) = 1
