Frick rushes forward toward the saber wielding trog, shoving aside suspended bodies as he goes. He reaches the trog and his glaive becomes a blur of motion; stabbing, slashing, and smashing wildly.

The Sabre-wielder reels under Frick's attacks.
OOC:
Forgot to mention in the summary that you have advantage to attack Sabre because he used Reckless Attack. I'll roll three d20s for ya. Looks like your second attack will now be a hit, giving you another GWF reroll. RNG is so cruel sometimes, how many 1's is that?! Anyway, looks like a total of 17 damage.

OOC:
Ygne and Jarveena, you can take your turn in either order. Ygne will have to roll a DC 12 con save at the start of her turn. Failure means poisoned until the start of next turn.
Mar 19, 2017 2:55 pm
Ygne turns just in time to take the full force of the Saber-wielder's charge into her chest. Her shortsword comes loose due to the power behind the attack. She collapses back, wheezing as the air flies from her lungs. She draws her dagger in a reverse grip, making rapid, deadly stabs toward the creature's belly, and slashing with the blade in her other hand.

Jarveena snarls angrily as her arrow goes wide. She quickly nocks another and takes careful aim. The lunging combatants jostle the dangling bodies, setting them swinging, casting swaying shadows in the soft light of the strange crystals tinged red by the blood-slick floor. Why, it's a little bit like a battle on a ship's deck! Jarveena slows her breathing, focuses on the sabre-wielding trog's left eye, and lets fly her arrow.

Between Jarveena and Ygne's attacks, the troglodyte staggers back, but its inhuman head snaps back, flames of hate in its eyes. Its singular purpose does not waver even as it faces probable death.

On the left flank, broadswords and battleaxes flash as the Broodguards fight for their lives. They level everything they have against the big woman with the axe.
OOC:
Ygne is immune to Troglodyte poison for the next hour. Broadsword and Battleaxe do not use Reckless Attack this turn as they see an opening.

Elspa takes 27/2 = 13 damage.

OOC:
Ryte, you're up.

Starting your turn next to a Trog means you need to make a con save (DC 12). Failure means you are poisoned for 1 turn, success makes you immune to Trog stench for 1 hour.

Sabre stands before you, nearly dead. Its reckless attack leaves it vulnerable - all melee attacks have advantage. Two more level vicious attacks against Elspa 15 feet away to your left. Broadsword is unscathed while Battleaxe has taken considerable wounds from Elspa's axe.

Ryte pierces forward with his rapier towards the sabre wielder.

If I finish him off...
Ryte rushes off to meet the two engaged with Elspa, thrusting forth his points.
OOC:
Rolled extra/bonus attacks separate in case the first attack finishes off the sabre.

Glaive spinning around him in a blur, Frick laughed crazily at the trogs. A good fight was a good fight, stranded on an island or not! He pressed the attack on the saber-wielding trog, glaive stabbing and slashing, whipping around in a blur.

Fueled by pain and blood, Elspa's attacks become more animalistic. She shoves the broodguard with the broadsword to the ground toward one of the stalagmites, hoping to impale it. Meanwhile, her fury slashes into the broodguard with the battleaxe, hacking away with quick overhead chops.
OOC:
Forgot to add +2 damage from Rage. If they hit, should be 8 on the first attack, 14 on the second.

The remaining troglodytes are cut down in short order, their stolen bronze weapons clattering to the floor one after another. Elspa impales the final creature on a stalagmite unceremoniously.

The snake-shaped doorway remains at the far end of the cavern, bright orange firelight spilling from the maw. It dawns on you that it is strange for Trogs to use torches down here since they can see in the dark. The headless corpses continue to sway in the orange light, and you see a red scarf dangling from the waist of one, most certainly belonging to Captain Leatha "Fishwife" Gabranth. The strange crystals continue to reflect the light in the cavern, although they seem to flicker with a life of their own. And there is of course, the exit toward the way you came in.

It is just past 7 and night is falling. What next, brave adventurers?
OOC:
I shifted Frick's damage to another target since Ryte slew it. The last trog still had hit points but I gave Elspa's shove onto a stalagmite actual damage - didn't bother to roll because the fight was basically over. You guys have fantastic damage output!

Panting, Ygne wipes the back of her hand across her mouth, smearing blood from her busted lip over her cheek. She spits a pink mixture onto the dead Trog's corpse, and begins to search the bodies for anything of value.

Rolls

Investigation - (1d20+3)

(17) + 3 = 20

Mar 20, 2017 7:56 pm
Elspa heads down the corridor the broodguards arrived from, checking to see whether there are more.
Mar 20, 2017 8:17 pm
Ryte will start cutting down the swinging corpses.

Ygne

Ygne's search is a disgusting one, but fruitful. Aside from their weapons, the Troglodytes have adorned themselves with metal fetishes, much of which is silver and gold. Much of this is coins strung together with sinew (50 gp), but you also find a silver dagger tucked behind a leathery skin fold in one of the creature's tail. Its handle and crosspiece is worked to look like intertwined snakes.

Ygne also notices that one of the Trogs has had some recent surgery. Stiches patch up a wound on the side of one's head, the work of a competent surgeon.

Ryte

Ryte begins cutting down the bodies. They are pale and stiff, much of their mass drained into the pots on the ground. You are pretty certain the cords tying the bodies are intestines.

Elspa & Frick

Elspa and Frick follow a short hall down the gullet of the snakehead entrance that leads to a well-lit square antechamber. The room has been wall-to-wall smeared in blood. Dozens of oil lamps, candles, and other sources of light sit on the floor around the perimeter of the room.

The north-facing wall of the antechamber is dominated by a massive carving which depicts dozens of humanoid creatures with snake heads looking up to a human male on an massive elevated throne. Majestic beams of light leap forth from the throne and the mysterious seated figure. The scene overlooks a massive pit with giant, bizarre monsters writhing about, emanating from a dark, swirling hole. Fountains pour liquid into the pit, and naked human bodies are being tossed in as well for good measure. All of this is far too elaborate to have ever been created by a Troglodyte.

Exits lead east and west from the antechamber. The eastern one is a downward spiralling stair carved into the rock. The west is slightly obscured doorway with a crude curtain fashioned from a sail. The light that spills into the room beyond illuminates some kind of statues hanging from the walls, as well as a good deal of debris on the ground, some of which glints brilliantly in the candlelight like metal.

Wordlessly, Jarveena lends what meager help she can to Ryte cutting down the corpses, many of whom she recognizes as crew mates. She treats Leatha's corpse with special care, gently arranging the captain's splayed arms and soiled clothing. She tries hard not to cry again. "We've gots t' burn 'em." she whispers to Ryte.
Mar 21, 2017 6:38 am
"I don't know what you believe in, Jarveena, but my mother had a saying when I was young. 'Tuin man lende, tir nia ammen', it's elvish for 'Those who leave, watch over us'. You will see her again when it's your time, so don't waste it in a puddle of tears; she'd want you to move on and better yourself, escape this island and live a happy life. Be strong..." Ryte lifts Jarveena chin "Tuin man lende, tir nia ammen."
