The Death Star has been destroyed and the Emperor defeated, but the Empire continues on in his absence. While the newly formed New Republic is gaining ground in their attempt to free the galaxy, what's left of the Empire has dug in it's heels and forcing the Republic to fight for every planet. An elite squadron of the New Republic's best starfighter pilots has been formed to handle problems the Navy is unable to take care of. Their current mission is to route out the pirates who have been praying on the crucial supply lines the Navy has been using on their fight to take the core worlds...

Your squadron, on board the modified Corellian Corvette, the Malta, that houses them was escorting a convoy of much needed supplies headed to the frontlines. Suddenly, your ship is pulled out of hyperspace and an alarm starts sounding. All pilots to your ships. All pilots to your ships." the Malta's communications officer calls over the comms.

Khoan jogs past his astromech, R6-N8, and quickly climbs into the pilot's seat of his shared Y-Wing. He pulls on his helmet and settles into his seat, running through his usual pre-battle calming exercises. He fights the giddiness that rises within him; despite the seriousness of the situation, he has to admit to himself that he is excited to be back out in the field. With a serious look in his eye, he runs his pre-flight checks. "All set on my end. Let's give these pirates a run for their credits, eh Vim?"

I'm also last-minute changing my Dedication from Presence to Agility, if that's okay with everyone. I think it might end up being more useful in the long run.

Cursing Soont stands up from the game of Sabac he was handily wilnning "Sorry guys, I'll have to take the rest of your credits later" as he shoots up and runs to the hanger deck at full pelt.

"Your luck has to run out some time," Rayf shouts back at Soont as he rushes off.

"His luck will run out guys," he says to the backs of the others as they too run off to their assigned stations.

"What's the rush?" his smile widens as he walks nonchalantly towards the hanger, slowly removing his jacket as he goes, "there'll be plenty of time for that in a minute."

Vim shrugs into the top half of the flight suit that had been hanging from his waist as Khoan jogs up. Vim had just been on his way to his bunk post-shift. Let's do this. Glad I decided to cut through the hangar today... Right place, right time. Typical.

OOC:

I still have to spend those credits upgrading the ship systems, but I find myself without books for a few days. I didn't think this through... If it gets to a point that it slows things down we can default to stock until I can get it worked out?

The sound of the alarm startles Kzzis, his hands jumping and the tiny sprockets and servos he was working on explode into the air, leaving the Verpine to curse as the ship while inside the confines of his quarters. He reaches into a nearby storage space and picks up his belt and pistol. He rubs the plate of his blaster pistol. The gun has been modified through and through but he takes comfort in the fact that it has been reliable for as long as it has. He quickly rushes out towards the ship docks where he enters into his B-wing. In almost perfect rhythm due to years of experience in the ship he presses the right sequence of buttons to ignite the engine.

"Red 3 standing by. Awaiting orders" he calls into his system, noticing the others running towards their ships

B0-N35 arcs his head to look upwards hearing the announcement over the system communications and nods since pilots should report to their ships. He goes back to reviewing his datapad where he kneels in his area next to his charging port when his head raises up. "Oh..." he states bolting upright since that actually includes him now. He goes to move and stops mid stride and removes his charging cable from the port and grabs his gear and takes off for his X Wing with full battle rattle unsure on what to expect.

Jumping into his own ship he goes through diagnostics checks. Hearing chatter over communicaitons people are already done he moves rapidly since he's just starting.

What's my call sign again??? Maybe I should get a red scarf... would that be tacky considering? he thought to himself and moved to work harder in completing his pre-flight check list in an expedient fashion.

Little late and waiting on approval, also what's my callsign? Red6? Crimson6? Heavy Metal Red?

I think we were doing Red X but i may be mistaken. In all honesty i just picked a random number that wasnt taken since it wasnt exactly discussed who got what number. In my opinion the 2 man ship should be red 1

As you power up your ships and blast out of the hangar, your sensors pick up what the problem is. A large asteroid had been towed into the hyperspace lane which caused the ships to be knocked out of hyperspace. The Malta is at the back of the convoy with the three transport ships in between it and the asteroid.

Coming out from behind the asteroid is a large carrier shooting out Z-95 fighters and some boarding transports toward the convoy.

"Well that's a tad impolite, leaving their rubbish floating about to inconvenience others! Last one to bag one of the pirates buys the beers!" Soont sqwaks over the comms before gunning the engines of his x-wing to intercept the bandits.

Khoan keeps pace with Soont, chuckling. "Couldn't agree more, my friend. Now let's form up and teach these pirates to target the New Republic!" His smile fading, he speaks to the gunner sitting behind him while keeping his eyes on the incoming fighters. "I must say, Vim, that I never tire of this feeling. I have missed open space, though the circumstances could be better."

Should we be rolling initiative or some such thing?

"Malta, can we get a count of these bogeys?" asked Rayf, easily keeping pace with Soont's X-wing, "And an ETA until you're clear of this asteroid; We don't mind covering for you, but taking out a whole swarm of these guys would just be showing off."

The turret pivots to forward as Vim fiddles with switches and knobs in the pale light of the gunnery seat. It was also the navs seat and the comms seat, but he always thought of it as the gunnery seat. It was his seat, anyhow, and he was at home there.

Vim smiles at Khoan, knowing he wouldn’t see it, but he’d hear it, Happy to have your back, as always. And, Vim switches to the squadron channel to speak to everyone, Let’s make for ourselves a little better situation, eh? Again, like always.

Khoan grips his control yoke a little tighter and regains a serious composure. "Alright boys, this is Blixus Leader. All wings report in; we've got company inbound."

I don't know if the callsign issue has been resolved, but I'm sticking with Blixus Leader for now and can edit it later if needed. I figure now's as good a time as any to establish them all IC though. Also blah I'm bad at formatting.
