Durgrim shrugs, and looks around. "Me guess is we're already be drawin' the attention. This 'ere cart of ours makes enough of a kerfuffle to wake mountain trolls. At least we'd see them as well as them hearin' us if ye go scoutin'. Still, stay safe and get back 'ere at the first sign of trouble brewin'. Ye'r an awfully open target while ye'r up there."

Veroth nods and takes to the sky. He flies up the road a bit and then gains altitude (with as subtle movements as he can to minimize detection), surveying the way ahead to detetmine the best route for their wagon.

Veroth flies up to try and get the lay of the land. The rain does makes it a bit difficult to perceive details though. Still, Veroth will se the switchback some 1200 feet or so ahead which turns south-west before heading back north-east and fading away in the haze of the rain. In tne south-west bend, he notices the road coming rather close to the Lysaga Hill, which sort of look like a fat crescent from above. He also notices some sort of ruin on top the hill. He will notice two likely candidates for the boxed canyon. One relativel close to teh road which heads back up north-east, and another one some distance south-west of the southern most tip of the Lygasa Hill "crescent" but which would require a considerable trek through the wood (the road only approaching the western tip of the Lygasa Hill "crescent").

Veroth swirls back down to the road and flies back to the wagon just under treetops height. As he alights in front of them, he will describe what he has seen.

"Given what we know about this hunter, he is most likely in the more secluded place. It's where I would be. I say we get as close to the close entry point as we can and then walk from there. I doubt he is there, but might as well check on the way by."
Roland changes the loads in his pistol to silver, just to be safe.

"You said you had run into undead here before. I have a spell that can hide us from such creatures, I also have a spell that will warn me if any are within a 60ft radius. Do you think it would be wise to cast either of these before we enter the woods?"
Aug 7, 2017 6:25 pm
"I don't think the undead are what we are likely to face out here. This man hunts the lycanthropes. He probably has put himself here to do that job."

"I see, I misunderstood the danger." Heather takes out her crossbow, just in case.

You continue on your way on the muddy road, eventually reaching the switchaback heading south-west and the turnaround which would lead you back up north-east to continue the climb. From here you can see the forest close to you the south, the Lysaga Hill rising above the treeline maybe some 50 feet or so off into the forest.
Sir Urik shields his eyes with a hand raised to his forehead, attempting to see in the distance.
"Hmm, I was hoping the elevation would grant us a better point of view, but this darn forest is in the way... So, which of the two canyons do we try first? The one further north along the road or the one deep in the forest to the south?"

You make your way into the forest, progressing slowly as you have to find your way using the cart. You've travelled a bit in the forest, when you notice the forest thins somewhat as you make your way deeper among the trees. Dim gray light spills through the trees, and the ground is chocked with undergrowth. A wide swath of clearer ground forms something like a path or a trail, though there are no clear marks of anything passing this way. As you maneuver the cart to try and reach the trail, an elf suddenly burst from behind a tree he was using as a hiding place, some 90 or so feet in front of you. He has a longbow drawn and pointed towards.
"What evil do you bring in this forest?"
He calls out, first in Elven, then in accented Common.
As the elf diverts most people's attention, Veroth will notice a single wolf sneaking toward the party on the southern edge of the path.

"Om Shanti. Peace, friend. We bring no evil. We are Lightbringers, and we are sworn to fight evil. We seek a lycanthrope hunter named Janis Baragh. Do you know him?"

As the elf bursts forth roland aims the Hackbutt at him, and keeps silent. Sometimes it is better to let those with bedside manner do the negotiation.

"A hunter? No, I know of no hunter. My people call these woods our home, they are not dangerous. I do not see why a lycanthrope hunter would dwell in these woods."
Aug 11, 2017 1:45 pm
"No. The villagers are fearful and superstitious. They fear our ways and leave us alone. Unless... Could you be speaking of the scarred one?"
Aug 11, 2017 1:52 pm
"The scarred one?" Ujjaya realizes they never obtained a physical description of Janis Baragh.
