OOC:
If its shock damage then it makes sense to me that you could. I mean you don't kill everyone you hit with a tazer. but thats far from an official answer.

OOC:
The way it's written, I'd say that you can make it nonlethal as well

You can use a melee weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage instead, but you take a –4 penalty on your attack roll.

You are still using the weapon to deal the damage, so the rule should apply

OOC:
Also, per the description of the "Shock" enchantment, you can turn it off at will.

"Upon command, a shock weapon is sheathed in crackling electricity that deals an extra 1d6 points of electricity damage on a successful hit. The electricity does not harm the wielder. The effect remains until another command is given."

OOC:
The rules in the combat section are broad, in the we in on Nonlethal damage, saying that "You can use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage instead, but you take a -4 penalty on your attack roll." In the general vein of specific trumps general, you would need to find another rule that says that energy damage cannot be used this way.

This was my reasoning as well

That would make sense, and yes, Durgrim could also have turned off his shock damage just to be safe. Oh, and I forgot a roll.

Victory!

You each gain 450 XP.

The elf has fallen unconscious, but is still alive. As for his wolves, you'd have to check...
Aug 29, 2017 3:33 pm
Roland draws his revolver loaded with silver bullets and begins searching the wolves.
Aug 29, 2017 4:16 pm
Well, they're wolves, so it's not like they're carrying gears... unless Roland suspects the wolves to be more than meet the eye, in which case he should find a way to know for sure...
Aug 29, 2017 4:17 pm
Darren approaches one of the wolves and presses his silver hammer against its flesh, to see if it reacts in any way. He's not too familiar with lycanthropes, so he's unsure if it will have any effect.

Less worried aboutbgear than i am making sure they are dead at this point. Are they still actively breathing or bleeding. Etc.
Aug 29, 2017 5:05 pm
Yes, both wolves are still breathing. One seems to be stabilized, and the other one is dying. Darren fails to notice any effect by simply pressing silver against the wolves' skin. Perhaps the weapon needs to actually hurt the creature in order to produce anything special. Although you do remember Sir Urik's silver sword and Veroth's silvered rapier inflicting normal damage on the wolves...
Aug 29, 2017 5:09 pm
"all of these creatures are still alive. I recommend we make haste in binding them, or choose to kill them."

Roland reaches into his haversack and pulls out 50 feet of silk rope and begins binding the elf creature.

Veroth cleans his rapier, watching the others methodically and professionally see to the prisoners. He keeps an eye on the woods, circling the area, pausing now and then to watch the woods for movement.

As Veroth keep an eye out, Ireena and Sir Urik will be divided on the fate of the prisoners. Ireena, considering they are werewolves, thinks they should be put to death as they are a menace to the people of Barovia. Sir Urik on the other hand is willing to give them a chance, confiscate their gear, and send them on their way with a warning that if they are met again, they will not be so lucky next time. Ireena is not too happy with this, demanding Sir Urik how many lives does he think this chance may end up costing, and to this Sir Urik will replay that the group simply cannot take the law in their own hands and murder people for crimes they may or may not have committed and for crimes they may or may not commit in the future...

All this while, Veroth will be sure that the group is in no immediate danger.

Durgrim frowns at the fallen beasts. "If they are indeed werewolves, it is our duty as Lightbringers to rid this land of them. If they are beasts they should be put out of their misery, unless they are of value to us through this elf.." He takes out a length of rope and binds the elf's hands and feet.
Aug 30, 2017 12:47 pm
Heather is also against killing the prisoners.

"Execution should be reserved for only the most heinous of crimes. As far as we know these things were only trying to protect themselves against a heavily armed group of strangers."
Aug 30, 2017 12:55 pm
Roland goes to the wolf who was dying and begins stabilizing him.

"As light bringers it is our duty to rid the world of evil, not of things that are just different. This conversation went south and we won. Now let us heal the wounded, treat them with firmness yet kindness, and see if they are evil."

Sir Urik will commend you on your choice.

"Thank you friends. I know there is much evil in this land, but fighting monsters by becoming monsters ourselves is not the solution."

Ireena is obviously displeased, but she knows better than to fight a losing battle...

Ujjaya will also chime in.

"I know Madam Eva said in her readings that the man I am searching for, Jerref Maurgen was not killed by werewolves, but perhaps one of them saw him and could give me a clue as to where he went or who killed him. Seems like those werewolves have eyes all throughout the forests of Barovia."
