Act II: Ill Fortunes (Part 2, the morning after)

Jun 8, 2017 2:35 pm
Durgrim slices deep on the creature, dark blood spewing from the wounds. On the second strike, the creature goes limp, relinquishing its hold on Durgrim and sinking at the bottom of the bog, looking quite dead now...

Ireena can only attack the giant eel attacked on her. She manages to wound it further.

Veroth is up next.

Rolls

Ireena's attack

Jun 8, 2017 6:42 pm
Veroth flaps over arcing and hovering just on the other side of giant eel from the others. He drives his rapier, hoping that he can pierce its hide at least once.

Rolls

Rapier +1 attack, with flanking, Str dmg, sneak attack - (1d20+14, 1d6+2, 4d6)

1d20+14 : (17) + 14 = 31

1d6+2 : (6) + 2 = 8

4d6 : (1232) = 8

Jun 8, 2017 11:21 pm
Veroth's rapier pierces deep in the creature's hide, spurting dark blood out of the wound.

Roland is up next.

Roland repeats his two shot maneuver attempting to get free.

Rolls

Critical confirmation

Rolls

critical confirmation - (1d20+6)

(5) + 6 = 11

Jun 9, 2017 2:24 pm
Okay, that's not a critical. But how much damage do you end up inflicting with just one shot hitting normally?
Jun 9, 2017 2:26 pm
OOC:
That 13 damage on the roll there. I used deadshot. So if one hits it damages as if both hit.

Dead Shot (Ex): At 7th level, as a full-round action, the gunslinger can take careful aim and pool all of her attack potential into a single, deadly shot. When she does this, she shoots the firearm at a single target, but makes as many attack rolls as she can, based on her base attack bonus. She makes the attack rolls in order from highest bonus to lowest, as if she were making a full attack. If any of the attack rolls hit the target, the gunslinger’s single attack is considered to have hit. For each additional successful attack roll beyond the first, the gunslinger increases the damage of the shot by the base damage dice of the firearm. For instance, if a 7th-level gunslinger firing a musket hits with both attacks, she does 2d12 points of damage with the shot, instead of 1d12 points of damage, before adding any damage modifiers. Precision damage and extra damage from weapon special abilities (such as flaming) are added with damage modifiers and are not increased by this deed. If one or more rolls are critical threats, she confirms the critical once using her highest base attack bonus –5. For each critical threat beyond the first, she reduces this penalty by 1 (to a maximum of 0). The gunslinger only misfires on a dead shot if all the attack rolls are misfires. She cannot perform this deed with a blunderbuss or other scatter weapon when attacking creatures in a cone. The gunslinger must spend 1 grit point to perform this deed.

I included the rule for deadshot above. I just realized I messed up the critical confirmation, but it still failed so doesn't really matter. My apologies.

Okay, but reading this, it seems only one d8 of damage would have been scored. The example provided seems to confirm that. Basically it's base damage dice per hit and then the modifiers are added. Sounds a bit underwhelming right now, but it seems a lot more useful when you have 3+ attacks available.

OOC:
Rereading that it appears your correct. I misunderstood. New single damage roll included. It is a bit underwhelming, if both attacks would hit it would do both damage plus the modifiers on each shot anyway... probably won't use that again. lol

Rolls

damage - (1d8+7)

(3) + 7 = 10

OOC:
It's very useful when fighting an enemy with high DR, since the DR will only take place once rather than on every single attack :)

Oh yeah, that too.

A single bullet finds its mark on the creature, splashing Roland with foul brackish blood.

Speaking of which, it's those creatures' time to act. They will continue sucking blood... Edit: oh yeah, and they heal slightly too... except the dead one, of course.

Ireena takes 1 point of CON damage and Roland 4.

Darren's turn now.

Rolls

Con damage Ireena

Con damage Roland

Darren pushes his way through the deep water to join his companions in attacking the remaining leech. Once he's in range, he takes a swing at the disgusting thing.

Darren makes his way to the leech-looking creature and smashes it mightily with his hammer, leaving dark purplish bruised on it's white rubbery skin.

The horrendous woman remains in the runic circle, trying its gaze attack once again on Ujjaya who must roll another Will save.

Then it will be Weiryn's turn.

OOC:
My bad, guys. I forgot all about it being my turn once I got back to a computer.
Weiryn starts to move forward, sloshing through the bog in his watersoaked robes in an attempt to get to Roland and render aid.
OOC:
Double move....hopefully I didn't move him too far forward...
Jun 17, 2017 11:56 pm
What is your move? Because the way I see it on the map, sloshing through some square costing double and some costing quadruple, you moved the equivalent of 100 feet...
Jun 25, 2017 4:05 pm
Okay, I haven't heard from irvanovich, so I assume his character has the standard 30-foot move, so I moved him back on the map a bit to represent his 60-foot move. He can always modify this as appropriate, or pick an alternative path which doesn't take him through deep bog later during the round, it doesn't really matter...

Fourth round of combat.
