Making his way up the stairs on to the deck of the ship, Harbek steps aside towards the corner of the top deck to avoid being stepped on in the hectic behavior of the captain and crew. Looking around until he sees the captain, he tries to call to him,

"Oye Captain. What do ya know?"

@Saris It is a beautiful day. The sunlight sends sparkles rippling across the calm waters. For a moment, its serenity reminds you of the heavens. Then despair sets in as you remember your fall from grace.

@Magak. Looking at the sailors it’s plain to see that the crew are anxious. Every now and then they cast a glance towards the port side. Following their gaze you notice something on the horizon. You can’t make out any details but it’s obviously another ship.

@Que
OOC:
The ship has three masts. The Mizzen Mast (back) Main Mast (center) and Foremast (front). Which one do you climb?
Either way a sailor berates you What are you doing? Can’t you see we’re under attack? It’s the Dreadship, captained by the sea witch known as ‘The Siren.’ We’re in big trouble. She takes no prisoners and She’ll be on us within the hour. We’ve got a few marines and those guys know their stuff. But the rest of us are no warriors. You'd better get down. She will probably fire at our masts to cripple us.

@Harbek and Glórendil You make your way towards Captain Bates. As you call for him he looks at you with an expression of irritation bordering on anger. I don’t have tim... he stops midsentence as his anger vanishes and a look of inspiration crosses his features. You know how to use those I assume he says looking at your weapons. Look I don’t have time to explain but we’re under attack. Pirates. He points towards the port side of the ship. They’re bigger and faster than we are so we’re going to have to fight them. I need you to go below decks and organise anyone who can fight and get them on deck. Questions? Please be brief. Time is of the essence.

What do you do?
Mar 29, 2017 2:58 am
"Alright." Glórendil races downstairs to get anyone he can on deck to fight.
Mar 29, 2017 3:05 am
I look around to everyone else and yell as intimidating as possible. Stop running! Someone tell Magak what happening!

Intimidation - (1d20+1)

Mar 29, 2017 3:57 am
@Magak You stop a sailor who, while clearly terriffied of you, stops for a moment and says Pirates are attacking. Get ready and then rushes off.
Mar 29, 2017 4:05 am
@Glorendil
You head downstairs and tell people about the situation. Unfortunately, word spreads faster than you do. People begin to panic. They group together and form something resembling a mob. The spokesperson, a large built human male adresses you. Why should we go up there? We should stay and protect our families. The crowd roars in agreement.
OOC:
Please roll charisma/diplomacy to diffuse the situation and convince the fighters to leave their families. Please roll twice. A good reason will give you advantage but a bad reason will give you disadvantage.
Mar 29, 2017 6:20 am
Saris sadness once again set over him stares at the beauty of the ocean but am quickly reminded that under beauty is nothing but despair and death, just like the under currents that will take ones body away deep into the sea. Saris quickly breaks this though before he continues down that path once again. Hearing that we are to be attacked by pirates he draws his sword from its sheath. The metal is black and he whispers to it Flarlanghn look over our travels as and may Nerul or Wee Jas look over the souls of those who may perish here today. Saris expression turns from one of depression to one with determination.

Que had climbed the main mast since it offered the highest view. As the sailors berate her she ignores them, looking to the port side to see the ship closing on them. Hearing a commotion below, she traipses quickly down the rigging and dashes below, skidding to a halt beside Glorendil as he faces the crowd. "Everybody QUIET!" Que yells, her small frame rigid. "You're men and warriors and you're making such a racket? I've heard children do the same! Now no more of this nonsense! You're sailors and warriors, not fat merchants. You want to protect your families? Then go up and fight! The best way for you to protect your family is to prove your valor with us! Now who's coming with me?"
OOC:
Arina, I'm adding the two saves as well though you can take this as the Help action too.

Harbek turns away from the captain and starts towards the stairs that lead down into the hold, but is quickly outpaced by the longer legged Glórendil. Deciding that he can be of more use by staying up top and preparing for the fight that will be upon them soon. Looking around and scanning the deck to see where he would be most useful, Harbek notices a half-orc standing there with a perplexed look on his face, so he hurries over to him.

"Oye big fella. I notice you be a noticin' the ship what is comin' up on us, with ill intent no doubt. Captain says we be headin' for a fight and ain't nothin' we can be doin' but gettin' ready for it."

Placing his hands on his hips and he looks the half-orc up and down, Harbek keeps a smile on his face so as to not put him off or send the wrong message.

"I'm guessin' that a fella like yourself can handle yerself in a scrap. Me name's Harbek, and by Pelor's blessed light I be thinkin' that you and me goin' to be a force to be reckoned with by them pirates what is gainin' on us. You just do your thing when they get upon us, and I will be near ya doin' me own thing."

With a huge smile on his face, Harbek walks a slow circle around his new acquaintance mumbling under his breath somethings about 'long arms', 'strong legs', before moving closer to the port railing of the ship and motioning for the half-orc to follow him.

Calling back over his shoulder, "What be your name again? In all me excitement I didn't quite catch it."
Mar 29, 2017 3:31 pm
I place my right hand in a fist over my heart. Me Magak. Me kill pirate if he come near ship. I follow Harbek.
Mar 29, 2017 3:43 pm
Looking up at Magak as he approaches, Harbek smiles at him again.

"I like you lad. Oh, and I certainly believe them there pirates is in for surprise if'n they step foot on this ship. I been too long since I be in a good scrap."

Turning his attention back towards the sea, "When they get closes enough I'll be gettin' the attention of some so we has some new friends to be playin' with."

Looking back to Magak, Harbek laughs as the joy of possible battle looms ever closer. With that he forces down the energy bubbling up from the anticipation and calmly looks back out to sea.

Whispering under his breath, "Pelor be with us and guide our hands as we seek to bring eternal light to those that would board this ship for the purpose of causing harm."
Mar 29, 2017 5:36 pm
I hold my great ax above my head, looking out at the pirate boat and just roar, looking forward to the rush of battle.
Mar 30, 2017 1:27 pm
Glorendil draws his longsword and prepares to fight.
Mar 31, 2017 12:03 am
OOC:
Uh, Glorendil? You're below decks with Que, or at least you were. Did you leave?
Mar 31, 2017 12:31 am
@ Que
OOC:
I'm gonna assume that Glor aided you in your check rather than the other way around so we can keep the story moving.
Your words have an immediate effect on the crowd and many tears fall as warriors say goodbye to their families and follow you upstairs to the quarter deck. After you assemble everyone Captain Bates addresses this improvised fighting force. Archers to the castle he says pointing towards the stern. Listen to the officers and open fire as soon as they come into range. Never stop firing! The rest of you guard that door! He says pointing to the entrance to the hold. They’ve come for plunder and powder, not prisoners so you’ll be fighting for the lives of your families. Don’t let any of those bastards through.

@ Glórendil
Bran Gives you a hug and a kiss. I love you. Stay safe and then takes his position with the archers.

@everyone
You look towards the port side. The small sail on the horizon is now clearly visible. The Dreadship gradually grows in size and you see a few small puffs of smoke followed by a deafening roar. The air
fills with the whistle of cannon balls as they fall around the ship. Most land harmlessly in the ocean but a few find their mark. You hear the screams of dying men and women. You hear a cry from above Watch Out! As the mizzen mast drops to the main deck.
Clear that away, shouts Captain Bates. Marines to the Quarter Deck You watch as twenty uniformed men form into two ranks. Each carries a large blackpowder rifle in two hands. The marines have grizzled, stern expressions on their faces. They are clearly no amateurs. They unleash a deadly volley as The Dreadship pulls up alongside The Indomitable.

Then all goes to hell in a heartbeat. The Dreadship crashes into the side of The Indomitable knocking many off of their feet. Grappling hooks are thrown over the railings, missiles are flying left right and center, and there is fighting up and down the ship as pirates swarm over. Seven gaunt looking humans, wielding wicked rusty looking weapons, swing over and land near your position. Each wears a bloody bandana on their head. They look half starved and desperate.

Please roll initiative.
OOC:
Everyone please roll initiative, take your turn and roll damage in a single post then I will write it into a battle sequence including the bad guys turns. If you would like to wait until after another player acts, just let me know in an ooc note

Que leaps away from her comrades and lands directly among the five gaunt humans. "Get away!" she screams at her companions. With a cry, she plants her fist on the deck of the ship, the circlet stone on her forehead glows with a brilliant green light, and there is a deafening dgerrr-ka-BOOM as a surge of thunderous force explodes out from her, crashing over everything in its path.

With a 15' range, that should hit all of the baddies. Hopefully it doesn't hit too many goodies. Sucky initiative, but I can deal with that for max damage!
