OOC:
Sorry for delay. The forum didn't show any new posts, other than those in the Hold section (which I haven't been reading to prevent myself from meta gaming).
As the deck beneath him starts to rumble, Harbek does his best to take on a wide stance and try to steady himself.

Rolls

Dex Check - (1d20)

(1) = 1

OOC:
Good on you for not metagaming. Wow your rolls.
It seems like you only roll 1s and 20s
You feel the massive explosion and many of you are knocked off of your feet. Surprisingly, your vision fills with smoke. As the smoke clears, you realise the explosion didn't come from the hold. You see the Indomitable limping away with smoke still trailing from its cannons. It must have unleashed a point blank broadside. Just as you regain your footing you feel another, smaller explosion from within the hold. A few moments later Que emerges and yells "OVER THE SIDE! OVER THE SIDE!" and then dives into the ocean.

What do you do?

Saris quickly turns at the voice of Que. Seeing her jump over board Saris follows Let us go everyone!
Apr 27, 2017 11:09 am
I follow over the side.

As Harbek sees the others leaping over the rails and into the water, he attempts to turn in their direction to follow. As he does, his feet lose their footing and slide out from under him. As he is falling, he grabs for the railing and ends up taking hold of a pirates sleeve, pulling him and another down on top of him. Knowing what is about to happen, Harbek scrambles and says a prayer to Pelor to aid him in his attempt to get out from under the two pirates in time to scramble over the edge of the ship before it blows.

Rolls

Strength Check to push the pirates off him quickly - (1d20+1)

(2) + 1 = 3

Apr 27, 2017 4:18 pm
Glorendil disengages and jumps off the side.
Apr 27, 2017 11:49 pm
@Harbek

The two pirates fall down on top of you.
You know that the clock us ticking so you furiously try to shove them off but they are too heavy. One of the pirates hits his head hard as he falls to the deck. The other pirate grabs for you.
OOC:
Please make an athletics or acrobatics check to avoid the grapple. The DC is 16

For deliberately placing your character in harms way for story purposes I am going to give you inspiration. You can exchange your inspiration for advantage on a roll of your choice. You may use it now if you wish.

Rolls

Athletics - (1D20+2)

(14) + 2 = 16

Apr 28, 2017 1:01 am
As the pirates land on him, Harbek does his best to twist away from the hands of the one that is trying to grab ahold of him, using the body of the one that has been knocked unconscious as a barrier between them. All that is running through his mind is the coming explosion that will rip the ship apart, and him with it if he is still on board when it happens.

Rolls

Athletics Check - (1d20+3)

(16) + 3 = 19

@Harbek You manage to escape from the pirates and you leap off of the ship. Not a moment too soon too...

OOC:
Not going to lie. I was nervous hitting the button to submit that last post.

@Everyone

You leap off the Dreadship and into the familiar warm ocean water. The sun is beginning to set as you make your way towards the Indomitable. Suddenly, you hear a massive explosion. Something hard smacks into the back of your head and you feel your consciousness slowly slipping away. Time slows as you think back to on your actions this day. You see something moving in the water below you as you slowly sink beneath the waves. It may be a shark. It may be something else. At the moment, you honestly don’t care. As oblivion approaches you face it with a sense of honour and pride as you know that your heroic sacrifice will allow hundreds of colonists to arrive safely at the New World. You wonder what it’s like as you finally lose consciousness.
OOC:
End of Chapter 1.

Congratulations Everyone. You have all hit level 2. I will post an experience summary below. I had a great time DMing this. I hope you enjoyed it. If you would like to roll for an hp increase then please feel free to do so. I’d also love any feedback that you may have. Please let me know if you have any comments :)

Please join me in Chapter 2.

(5) + 1 = 6

OOC:
I'm not entirely sure whether I almost killed two characters or whether Sinnj and CouchLord almost did it themselves! Either way, I had a blast guys. Thanks for being so awesome!
Apr 28, 2017 10:38 am
OOC:
Oh CouchLord for sure nearly did it himself. No blame on the DM here! Que's got a very good chance of nearly dying a lot.

OOC:
I thought I was dead when I was surrounded

Rolls

Health - (1d12+3)

(2) + 3 = 5

Apr 28, 2017 10:56 am
OOC:
That could have gone really badly had the others left you but they didn't. Some very clever thinking /natural 20 on a perform check by Harbek helped a lot too. Also, I think you still had a rage left?
Apr 28, 2017 2:29 pm
OOC:
Yeah. My close call was entirely on me. Would rather die a noteworthy death while being true to my character than let him live with the knowledge that he took the easy, and less entertaining way out. 8- )
