Light have mercy. This is more wealth than I've ever seen. And there are two more.

The harem would be quite happy to have this.
Rixon digs a hand in, seeing if it goes all the way down.

He then closes and relocks the chest, and moves on to the next.
OOC:
If he finds something else (false bottom, illusion, etc ignore these rolls...

Rolls

Thieves tools - (1D20+6)

(8) + 6 = 14

Thieves tools - (1D20+6)

(4) + 6 = 10

Thieves tools - (1D20+6)

(4) + 6 = 10

Kaio too is floored by the insane amount of wealth before them. "This could indeed help the Harem's cause, and giving a share to the townspeople of Willowdark could go a long way towards assisting in their defense efforts."
Jul 13, 2017 7:16 pm
Whilst the others open the chests, Geran begins studying the Necromancers book.

Rolls

Arcana - (1d20+2)

(1) + 2 = 3

Jul 13, 2017 7:38 pm
Rixon moves on to the next chest, but is stymied by the locks for a few minutes.

Geran, you crack open the book and the format and structure look familiar from your own exposure to spellwork, but beyond that you cannot grasp really any good details, other than these are likely spells and notes of an unholy sort.
Jul 13, 2017 11:28 pm
Geran lets out a grumble, These notes appear quite complex. I'm not going to get anything good out of it unless I spend a lot more time devoted to it.
Jul 13, 2017 11:54 pm
Maybe that's better left for the... ah, Council, was it? Rixon weighs in on the book again between attempts to open the chest.

As the second lock pops open, Rixon opens this chest, eager to see if it matches the other...

Geran replies, It will go to the council. I just figure I should study it in case I find anything useful to our cause. Please just let me do my thing.

As you open the second chest, you find this doesn't contain riches as the other did, however, it seems laden with leather-bound tomes. This chest isn't full, it's about 2/3 full. The scripts inside are of a variety of languages, but none that you recognize.
Jul 14, 2017 5:00 pm
"No doubt these are as of great value as the gems and coin to someone who can read them," Kaio hypothesizes.
Jul 14, 2017 5:09 pm
Lets hold on to them. As I continue to grow, I might be able to discover a way to read them. They might be of use.
Jul 14, 2017 5:11 pm
"They aren't going anywhere," Kaio quips, "these boxes are heavy. Let's unlock the last one and we can lock them again and bury them until we can inform someone from the Harem where to find them."
Jul 14, 2017 7:10 pm
Geran nods his head Let's transport the chests to another spot.We dont want the bandits coming back to reclaim them right?
Jul 16, 2017 8:50 pm
OOC:
How heavy are these chests?
The key has to be around somewhere. It wasn't with the old man, so it must be with one of these six, Rixon points to the bedrolls. Perhaps they're out for the day? Rixon looks for indications of the comings and goings of the inhabitants of the cave.

Rixon then gets to work on opening the last chest...

Rolls

Survival - footprints - (1d20+1)

(7) + 1 = 8

Thieves' tools - (1d20+6)

(4) + 6 = 10

Thieves' tools - (1d20+6)

(10) + 6 = 16

Thieves' tools - (1d20+6)

(1) + 6 = 7

Jul 16, 2017 10:35 pm
The chest with the coins weighs about 550 pounds. The one with the books weighs about 200 pounds. The other is substantially lighter, maybe only 70 or 80 pounds.
Jul 17, 2017 11:59 pm
Rixon scrunches his face, focusing on the unloving of the chests.

Rolls

Thieves' tools - (1D20+6)

(17) + 6 = 23

Thieves' tools - (1D20+6)

(8) + 6 = 14

Thieves' tools - (1D20+6)

(13) + 6 = 19

One of the locks easily pops open, you almost have the second one done, but a rock drops from the ceiling and hits your hand, just causing you to screw up.
Jul 18, 2017 12:38 am
Geran snaps his fingers, We should set up an ambush. With this loot, I'm sure they'll be coming back.
Jul 18, 2017 12:42 am
Rixon looks up and asssses the structural integrity of the cave, Really? Why anyone live in a cave, I'll never know. And I know what it's like to need a place to put a bedroll...

Rixon grumbles as he fumbles...

Finally!

I'd be amenable to an ambush. But we must determine these are ill-intentioned bandits before we execute them. And I'd love to have the key to these, I don't want to do that again.

Rixon opens the final chest.

I shall remain the Old Man, and the rest of you lot can hide as soon as we figure out what to do with the loot?
