Anders nods and heads forward quietly, his scimitar naked in his hand. As you all move forward through the zurkhwoods, the low muttering grows louder, turning into a symphony of moans, cries, and hisses. The only light comes from a few glowing mushrooms along the edge, but even in the gloom, you can't miss the source of the sounds. The heads of creatures of a dozen humaonid Underdark races peek from the ground, mold and fungi growing around them.

One voice calls out loudly in Undercommon, a female drow fighting to speak.
[ +- ] Undercommon
She manages to stir within her living grave, raising a spider medallion half-embedded in the bloated growth that was once her hand. Half her face is rotten and pustulate, a bed for the sprouting of scores of tiny mushrooms.
[ +- ] Undercommon
In common you hear one word that doesn't seem to be in Undercommon: Zuggtmoy.

Dustin's eyes go wide, What in the realms ! Cemos can you help her ? What is she saying ?

Dustin tries to see if any of the people planted in the ground can be helped.

Planting people ! this is insane.

Since the drow is the only one speaking he tried to pull her up out of the ground but he holds his breath and covers his mouth and nose with his cloak.

ahhh so anticlimactic
May 19, 2017 2:37 pm
Cemos, you guess that any real effort to free the drow would end in her very painful death. You can already see (as can you all) that her flesh itself is coming apart just as she is reaching to show you her pendant.
OOC:
Quick question, did any of you spend time analyzing or trying to attune to any of the items you got from the shambler fight?
May 19, 2017 2:52 pm
OOC:
Did I get any of those ? If so yes since Dustin would have had time to try.
Oh Lord she is coming apart ! Dustin says, Cemos if you could do something please do, if you can't I think we should kill her quickly so she doesn't suffer more. Dustin doesn't particularly like the drow but this is horrifying.

He will take the amulet since she obviously wants the group to see it and looks at it.

I have to be honest and say no, I would have rested to get my healing pool back.
May 19, 2017 3:21 pm
No one took anything specifically, but you know that the gauntlets, the necklace, and one of the pearls were magical. I'll assume you guys spent a little time during your rest figuring out what they were.
Gauntlets of Ogre Power - makes your strength 19, no effect if your strength is over 19. Requires attunement.
Periapt of Wound Closure - if you drop to 0 hit points at the start of your next turn you auto-stabilize. Also, when you regain HP through spending hit dice, you regain 2x the number of hit points. Requires attunement.
Pearl of Power - if you have the pearl on your person, you can speak its command word and regain one expended spell slot. If you are trying to regain a slot of 4th or higher, you instead gain another 3rd level slot. Once used, you cannot use it again until the next dawn. Requires attunement by a spellcaster.

You can choose to divvy up how you'd like.

OOC:
The effort to identify an item through study is "light activity" for the purposes of resting. You could have easily done it while standing watch with no penalty. Same with the attunement.

any attempt would surely kill her, give us your dagger Dustin. Cemos leans over to the girl and says. there is nothing I can do for you lass, I am afraid your to far gone. he then looks down to the dagger.... and then back to the drow. If you wish I can make it painless... or we can leave you be, its your choice. Just close your eyes should you wish me to send you to your Gods.

The Pearl to Bildaweer definitelty, the guantlets most likely to Cemos
May 19, 2017 3:24 pm
OOC:
obviously I am going to wait until after she tells us what she can about what is happening here.
May 19, 2017 3:25 pm
Dustin hands Cemos his short sword since he gave the dagger to Stool.
May 19, 2017 3:26 pm
OOC:
ok cool well defiantly gonna attune to the mace and maybe the gauntlets if no one wants them, now I already have the mace so I don't want to take all the loot, if some wants the gauntlets or the mace let me know.

I admit the guantlets are tempting heh heh heh

The mace doesn't require attunement and Dustin would really only get the ability to lift stuff better and the like. You'll still be better hitting with your dex. :) I'm going to work on the assumption that Cemos took the gloves, Bilda took the pearl, and Anders (for the moment) took the necklace.
Rasharoo careful disperses some of his rapport spores, granting you the ability to speak with the drow without needing Undercommon.

Please....for your gods of light...kill me! The Great Seeder... trap... she's here... the Lady of Decay... Zuggtmoy. I'm from Velkynvelve. Ilvara ....contacted me to find .....some escapees. She thought.... they may seek refuge....here. The big one.... Phylo..... tricked me..... warn the drow about......Zuggtm......

Even as she transmits her thoughts to you, the little movement she exerted to raise the amulet takes her and you see the last bit of light in her eyes fade away.

The moans of the garden's victims suddenly take on a new tone of fear as something moves across the foul ground. A disgusting larval creature rises up before you, showing only vestigial fungal growths that hint that it might once have been a myconid.

Welcome, travelers. the aberrant myconid's voice gurgles and spits as it speaks both aloud and in your minds at once. Are you hear for the wedding rehearsal? Friends of the bride or her intended? No matter! Let the love of the Great Seeder embrace you as you become one with her chosen, the Great Body!

The creature in front of you is odd, looking like a giant larvae. It has clouds of spores that puff out of a slit that functions like a mouth. It makes actual noise, which you notice as being very strange as the myconid don't speak. As he speaks and writhes on the ground, two of the corpses lying on the ground rise to their feet, shaking, their eyes dull and lifeless as they shamble forward towards you. Out of the zurkhwoods behind you, two myconids the size of Stool advance towards you, their stalks quivering with anticipation.

The space you are now in is a circle about 60 feet across, with piles of fetid corpses and fungus-infected bodies lying all over the place. You are 20 feet from the big ugly, and 20 feet from the myconids coming up behind you. The zurkhwood "fence" completely encloses the area, and you are 20 feet from that as well

COMBAT! You all are up as big ugly used his surprise to raise the creatures.
Big Ugly
PCs, Stool, Georges, Eldreth
Myconids
Mushroom zombies?

Dustin looked to Stool with a WTF look.

He then prepared for combat moving to the big ugly, "C'mon Cemos let's take this... thing down." Rapier and Shortsword ready to go. Dustin waits to flank the thing with Cemos.
May 19, 2017 5:09 pm
Dustin brought his Rapier in for a strike.

Rolls

Rapier strike - (1d20+8)

(8) + 8 = 16

Rapier and sneak attack damage - (1d8+5, 3d6)

1d8+5 : (7) + 5 = 12

3d6 : (453) = 12
