Chapter 4: Neverlight Grove

Two of Cemos' strikes, the second and fourth, slam into the weird snake creature, causing it to recoil in pain. As it does so, a lance of lightning arcs out from Dustin and flickers over the grick's scales. It hisses at you as the smell of singed flesh wafts to your nose. Bildaweer's missiles blast into the thing's beak, causing it to partially break away. Just as it finishes shaking its 'head', a great bear leaps through the darkness, claws flashing in the low light. As the claws rake, and blood wells up, the creature wavers for a moment before collapsing into a coiled heap.
OOC:
Unless I can find a more convincing answer, use your proficiency. Even still, the bite misses, but its ok: Grick is no more.
It has ceased to be.
Combat over!

Dustin smiles glad that this one wasn't immune to his magic or lightning.

He moves over to the chasm to see if Francis is down there. He ties a rope to himself.
"Cemos could you bring your mace over here ?"

Dustin hands the rope to other members so they can pull him up if need be and he searches the chasm.

OOC:
It was only an 18 AC. You JUUUUUUST barely missed him with those two 17s. :)
Apr 28, 2017 12:32 pm
Well I can see well but having actual light over here should help me find things that may be hidden in shadows. So having your mace nearby and lit is a positive thing.

Yer absolutely right, they are being a bit daft. Searching about a damnable cave when we could be running for the surface. Why don't I just listen to you from now on, instead of these lollagags? Eldreth mutters quietly to herself, rocking slightly.

OOC:
did I hear her say that. I've been wanting to ask her about some things like when she screamed in the prison about the clicking noise or whatever. And now this....hummmmmmm
Apr 28, 2017 12:52 pm
Spelunking and looking for any signs of Francis or anything else in that crevice.
Apr 28, 2017 1:07 pm
OOC:
You did hear her, it was faint, almost like she was talking to herself. But you did hear her.
Dustin, as you look about the cave, you notice some drag marks and as you get deeper in, you find a pile of bones or all sorts near the back. Near that pile, there are a pair of bodies, only one of which you recognize: Francis. He managed to get here quickly, perhaps driven by his fear and madness, and was assaulted by the grick. It was only your intervention that caused the grick to come out of the cave at all. Normally it would have just settled for dining on your former compatriot.
Apr 28, 2017 1:10 pm
OOC:
Is Francis dead or merely poisoned or something ?
Dustin will bring the bodies up and out with him.
Found Francis Dustin says sadly.

He then goes back for the other body bringing it up. If there is nothing else below to bring up he will exit the crevice himself.

He glances to Cemons and whispers, Why is she speaking to herself ? then more normal volume, Thanks for holding the rope steady for me.
Apr 28, 2017 1:17 pm
OOC:
Sorry, it's not as much a crevice down into the ground, but a cave back into the wall. You can just walk straight in and out.
As you lift Francis' body, you notice that there is very little left of his neck. It would take significant magical and material efforts to raise him at this point.
Apr 28, 2017 1:28 pm
He must have headed straight here. Right into this slug. Dustin shakes his head, he then focuses on salvaging what equipment he can from the bodies.

I guess we will drag this thing back to the sovereign, wonder what he will do with it.

Shifting back to his normal form, Ander grunts in disgust at the grick. "Why can we not simply cut a piece off it as proof?"
Apr 29, 2017 12:17 pm
Nasty work cutting bits of flesh off.
Apr 29, 2017 12:41 pm
They wanted it for something I don't know what. So might as well help them out. Dustin shrugs.
