Ezeriah says:
Like some fucked up horror movie scene.
True. Just saw a little witch girl with a brand, said to be from a devil-man. Witnessing unexplainable phenomenon of surreal fires, oppressive darkness, unnatural sound and sensory fluctuations, and a throne that sends out mind-altering hallucinations. An underwater infil into a death-trap of an ancient ruined temple, awaiting attack by fish-men and psychos with masks and bone spines in their back, plus a giant dinosaur alligator. Shit, man: Ice-cold Ivor is ritual cutting himself beside a Dannein stranger woman who is standing with him to the death to kill her monster-possessed husband.
Life changing event? I think yes.
Episode 1 Game Sesh DM Curveball:
Any character who guts it out and survives the Throne Room gets a +1 Level at moment of clear triumph.
2 qualifiers:
1) Has to be taken within a Class that the character already has. (No instant learning of a completely new path).
2)
"Gut it out" means being in the thick of the scene: facing the terror, fighting it out and posting in a descriptive way, taking risks, striving to make saves and checks and taking your licks when you don't, enduring alongside of or struggling against the NPCs within the story, sticking to any applicable Codes, backing each other up - pretty much suffering through and bleeding it out
Dark Thrones style.
2 Level changes in 1 Episode and 2 game world days is DEFINITELY not the norm, but this crazy shit has become something different in the life of the characters I think.
Get ready. As usual: no safety net. Choices and dice are going to determine it all.
But I know you guys don't look for safety anymore, so just let the characters bring what you want them to.
