Ranged slashing damage on the net to free Maeriks!!!
Jabes.plays.RPG says:
I don't know, man. Sounds like it could just as likely split Maeriks' skull open.

In any case given the current range the axe throw would be at disadvantage, yeah? Canceled out by Throne Room Offense, so attacking normally, correct?

Sounds right.

Holy shit! I just now went back page to see what you were talking about. Maeriks and Ivor's eyes connect from across the room. Maeriks holds up a big section of net, pulls it taunt, and puts his head down as Ivor gauges it out and throws?!?!

If there is ever a time to do such a miraculous over-the-top shot, I guess it is here in The Matrix when all of you guys are tripping on some outer space Stephen Hawking enlightenment shit.

Oh thank you so much. Now I just have to hope Maeriks is lubed up enough by the sweat of exertion that the squeezing cube doors shoot him out the temple like a Dannien rail gun

Ivor stabs the Ulathi in the chest and tosses him aside, like a pitchfork throwing a big wad of hay.
A bale of hay was what I typed first but decided Ivor hadn't done much hay-tossing back in his fishing village so I went with a sack of chum haha!

Ha! True. I saw the back to back similes when I wrote it. Thought about stacking on a few more.

I guess the hay bailing imagery is an attempt to speak with familiarity to the agricultural-based Yuoric heartland when this story goes public.

Oh wait. Damn! You guys don't have a Bard. This shit is NEVER going public.

Since we've been invited to talk things over a bit:

Ez, Jabes, Thorn is thinking of grabbing the north-west cauldron and using it to jam the door and give Maeriks a bit more time. Possibly Probably a 2 or 3 man job with 5.1 in the way. What do you think?

Great idea! I feel like Ivor would clear 5.1 first though, unless someone else takes the fish-man out and frees Ivor up for the cauldron assist. I wish I still had an Action Surge available, but I don't. :-(

Bryn can take him out, I'll have two shots at Advantage.

And Bryn is not strong at all...

Hopefully Kray has two well placed shots that can take out the ones on Maeriks.

X, I'll throw some stuff out there for use in making the call on what to do.

Thorn would already have Advantage on STR Athletics with Clarity of Time and Space. So the classic Help Action won't give "double" or "triple" Advantage.

For this, I'll say maybe guys could send in a small boost, similar to what we did with trying to hold Kray back when he was floating away.

I think that helpers must have Proficiency in the skill to contribute.

If they do participate, it takes an Action to contribute.

Applicable Ability Score 8 - 15 gives +1.
Applicable Ability Score 16-19 gives +2
Applicable Ability Score 20 gives +3

With no Action Surge, sounds like Ivor may be unavailable for this Athleticism assist for this round, since he already cut Maeriks out of the net at a distance (Attack 1? Bonus?) and then hay-bailed/chum-stuck a DO in front of him (Attack 1?). He doesn't have a full Action left.

As in the back and forth via Note, DC 18 to heave push cauldron over (Plus not sure how hot that bitch is. Will their be coals flying everywhere? ) and manhandle it over dead body obstacles to jam the door. All in under 6 seconds.

Plus, you need two hands free. Would have to shift DC WAY up if you are doing it one-handed while carrying an 11-year-old in the off-hand.

I didn't mean to imply a stacked advantage; I meant a few things need to happen simultaneously in order for us to have the best chance to make this work.

Here is how I envision it, roughly:

Ivor or Bryn take out 5.1 while the other helps carve a path for Laoise and Maeriks. I'm not exactly sure where Maeriks is since he started running.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--UwsgbbJ7lk/UqJv2oLPDTI/AAAAAAAAGLs/6yfOrOEpA_U/s0/forrest-gump-movie-clip-screenshot-run-forrest-run_large.jpg

If I'm measuring properly, his full movement takes him right between the closing slabs of granite.

Thorn has an action surge left. He uses a little over half his movement to get to the Bowl of Fire. He tips it on its side and rolls it through the gore, heaving it to Kray to wedge into the closing doors. He might not get all the way back, in which case he action surges a dash if need be.

As far as having hands free—Rhone is in Hinka's arms. Sword gets stowed on the way over to the The Black Cauldron.

This might be craziness. Maybe we have just as much a chance to keep the doors open a little longer if Thorn goes all Samson on them.

Bryn can take care of 5.1, Ivor will be better at helping than Bryn for that.

X, love the pics above. I'm changing my mental imagery now...

Little Sorcha Rhone wakes up and yells out in a country Dannein accent, "Ruuuhn, Mayeriks!! RUUUUUHN!!!"

Maeriks' splints are breaking free from his legs as he gets into full stride. The Deep One bullies are falling behind, surprised at the imbecile's unexpected speed.

Thorn cuts his hair off, gouges out his eyes, and then starts praying for one more surge of strength as he presses outward against both stone blocks.

I was thinking this would all happen next round but now I remember that it's been established that the cube door closes at the end of Round 3! No, I don't have any actions left at all for this round except a possible Reaction.

I have additional concerns about wedging the door open with the cauldron:

1) Cauldron guys wedge it in BEHIND Maeriks & everyone, right? Because having to clamber over it might cost extra movement.
2) IF the cauldron stops the door then good guys can get out, but so can baddies, right? So once we're out we gotta clear that shit out of the passage. Or if the cauldron is slowly getting crushed, we defend the gap until it closes.

I don't think the cauldron will stop that massive door. Rather, it'll buy time.

Here's what I'm thinking based on y'alls thoughts:

(1) Bryn wastes 5.1.
(2) If Bryn fails to waste 5.1, Kray wastes him. Action surge four shots if needed. I'll likely do it anyway to clear a path.
(3) With 5.1 out of the way, Thorn moves the cauldron. Kray would only offer +1 on assist anyway.
(4) Hopefully Kray makes additional Ulathi part of the body count, paving the way for Maeriks.
(5) Maeriks makes it to the door.
(6) We withdraw, classic scene, barely getting out as the Hierophant gets pissed and swears bloody revenge.
(7) Maybe a couple foes chase after us, but I've got to think that door will crush the cauldron.

Thoughts?

Also, the above needs to happen in that order for optimal chances.
