Fighter abilities reset too, yeah?
OOC:
I guess. You tell me - the planning session with the Tcho-Tcho, now past, was a Short Rest. Whatever that entails.
You guys know I'm terrible at Player rules management.

Yo, fellas. I want to see the result of this and prepare for it, as a triumph or a disaster, this weekend while I have some downtime.

I have to make the call right now: I assume that CB is not going to post up to actively control Maeriks.
So someone else has to stand in.

So here's the deal...
REQUIRED ACTION: Next reader PC, roll...
1) 1d6 to establish DC.
2) Animal Handling Skill Check for Maeriks: 1d20+7
OOC:
Come on. Don't be a pussy. Next person dropping in, ROLL THAT SHIT!!

Oops wrong thread and jabes already beat me to it.

Yo, fellas. Episode 1 is a wrap!

What a ride. And down to the wire AGAIN! Whoa. Even in the Skill Challenge Exit Machine, Maeriks ends up with the last nail-biter roll. And via Jabes timely management, Maeriks makes the check ON THE DOT to help set up the final win.

Glad that y'all weren't caught right there at the end with Glaak and Zombies throwing you guys a final farewell party.

Episode 1 thread is now formally closed.

I'm going to be shifting some things around for organization on the threads, probably going to lock this version of Admin down as well at some point, but will leave it operational for a bit longer.

Will be opening 2 new threads, one now and one later this week probably. See you there.

That was a close call. DC save on the money, Jane's. Love it.

We survived and got Sorcha. Well done all around and a great trip at that.

Previously on Dark Soap Operas....

Set the scene with a review on THIS and THIS and ....THIS!.

Episode 1: Deleted Scenes Expansion Kit

J to X: PM 1
OOC:
Bro, what happened at that last scene with Rutcranna and Thorn in the wigwam? Was the conclusion exciting or sad or insightful or lackluster or confrontational or freakin out of control hot?

No need to post on the boards, because no one else would have seen/heard anything more, but send Thorn's response here. Retroactive flashbacks in the movie - Thorn is thinking it over as he dives into the lake (or maybe Rutcranna is).
---------------------------------

X to J: PM 2
OOC:
Thorn is definitely thinking about this non-stop, but trying to shake it off and concentrate on the task at hand.
Back in the wigwam -
Thorn's brain does not want to go any further. There is a job to do, and passion will just get in the way, as much as the rest of him would just like to gather her in his arms. His face is inches from hers. Her aroma is rich in his nostrils. Truly intoxicating. Furthermore, he most certainly does not want to brush her off and risk offending her.

So he goes for a middle ground - one that may save passion for later, and hopefully keep him in her good graces.

"I will get your daughter back, Rutcrana," he whispers.

"I need to learn how to use that krekutil." His hands grip her shoulders, in a half-caress. He smiles at her. He walks out of the wigwam.

-----------------------------------------

J to X: PM 3
OOC:
Alright. I hear it. Thorn passes up on the pussy of a lifetime. How responsible.
Ok. She let's the moment pass. But then she goes ahead and opens a different one.

"You're mother. Did you never know her?"

Let's that sit for a second.

"Do you want to see her? There are some images left.". Cautiously and carefully, she offers her hand. "She loved you. I can read that. She was something special, and she thought the same of you."

She stands there. Vulnerable. As if she is prepared for Thorn to strike her, but hoping he will instead accept her hand.

------------------------------------------------

X to J: Last PM to close scene

Thorn begins walking out of the tent, stopping as she mentions his mother. He slowly turns around. His ears begin to burn.

"Images? What do you..." He stops himself. The mission.

"My lady, you know which words to speak to stop my heart and cloud my mind. We should speak further of this, and forgive me, but I must go prepare. Your daughter ? we are here to rescue her. Two of my comrades have fallen, and I do not intend to be the third. If you wish me success in this endeavor, please let me go with your blessing and the promise that we will speak again when she is safely in your arms."

And he walks out of the wigwam.
OOC:
Okay, off to the Episode 1 thread to catch up with a bit of flash-back rolling on how long it took Thorn to get the hang of LUBA and procure a few of those spears if any are left!

EZ?! Are you kidding me?
Don't you mean "What a NERD!!!!"?

Thorn passed up sex with a super model because he needed to practice shooting swamp-elf slingshots and strapping a jellyfish on his face to simulate drowning.

Shit. No no no... I know J!

The sarcasm was supposed to be palpably obvious!

HHAHAHAHA. OK I get it. Missed that!!!

I think that scene was so good, but so funny. Thorn had to stay on mission, had to get that Tcho equipment instead of that premium snatch.
I never let X live it down about that.

Y'all, AAR 1 Thread is still running and open for anything we should talk about in game mechanics and game improvement. Input and participation there is welcome, but completely optional. I'm probably going to delete that Thread after we are done with it during transition since it is just a short term project for housekeeping.

I just kicked of Interim 1 Thread for more character and story discussion. I sent some heavy fire downrange on that one, so take your time to digest and see what you think. There are some input items that I need you guys to start building up as responses when you are ready. That can be either directly on that thread as a post or you can send stuff to me by PM.

This transition period is really casual on the tone and schedule. I need some downtime away from full throttle gaming for a while. These side convos can run along at whatever pace it turns out, but I don't want to get back to full gaming in the form of Episode 2 until at earliest after Thanksgiving weekend (U.S. only, y'all. For you outlanders, this is about fucking Pilgrims, hanging out with Indians, armed with blunderbuss muzzle-loaders, corn stalks and pumpkins everywhere, blasting turkeys and cooking them up with famous side dishes, thanking God for all the badass things you have in life. Puritans in a new land, toughing it out like rugged frontiersmen, but still rocking it with some dope-track religion and kindness. Respect that. In your face.).
In fact, start date might be even later, some time in early December.

Need some planning and off-board writing time, and also just some time to not worry about it at all. And I suspect you guys are the same way.

So, tentative plan for the next couple of days/weeks:
Gradual conversation on AAR and Interim.
Update characters, working with DM on Interim Background.
Restart of Episode 2 TBD sometime around 1 Dec 2017.
Nov 13, 2017 11:45 pm
Outstanding plan of action. Kick back and smoke em if you got em. Hash shit out and recharge for DT: Episode 2.

Love it.

Holy ish, Jabes. I laughed out loud when I read this and still keep cracking up! This may make me decide against deleting AAR Thread later.

Haha you guys, I showed her this and she nearly popped a suture laughing. She's a real-life Doirind: tough as nails, no nonsense, no dramas/mind-games, says what she means, and no goddam ladyspeak, will point out a passing hottie so we can appraise said hottie together. As tough as she is though, and as well as her recovery is coming along, I've decided I'm putting down my phone whenever she's awake so I can spend as much time with her as I can. So I apologize for not being as available as I used to be.

Dang, Jabes. I didn't know that you had so much game to land such a cool hottie like that.

Which brings me to a question I have: Is she running any training seminars to teach other women the effectiveness of this sort of behavior, to explain that women who use this technique will have guys hotter for them and more loyal to them?

Which brings me to my follow-up question 1: If she is doing the training seminars, is there link a to those online that can be forwarded?

And take your time away guilt free. I mean this completely unproductive, shamefully childish game of imagination and escapism that provides no tangible gain IS and SHOULD BE very important on your schedule, but there are a few things IRL that are slightly higher on priority. From time to time.

Bro, in all seriousity, we are still pulling for her recovery even though half a world away.

And hey, fellas, on that note CB also wrote in to me on the side to stay in touch. Similar to his recent post on his DT:WM board, he gave the background of all the job pressures he's facing, but said he is trying to shift jobs now. That is looking really good he said -- should be back in normal comms predicting a couple of weeks.

All this turns out to be just fine timing for us anyway on this project. I'm enjoying the down time also. I want to work on this stuff for fun, but I was sort of smoked from the self-inflicted high-intensity game board schedule of a month or so ago. This is great to have the re-lax as we approach holidays. I'll be traveling next week, having some time away.

Thanks for those who have sent in updates, ideas, and convo on the boards and by PM. Good ish so far. Please keep it coming. These characters are dope.

I am motivated to get back in full swing in December after the break.

Stay cool, y'all. Best wishes to you and yours, Jabes.

J-Vacay

Y'all,

One last thing on the sidebar: Are you guys on the lookout for this new D7 book coming out called Xanthar's Guide to Everything?

I've been catching a few YouTube video promos on it, and it looks like it will be pretty dope track. Sounds like it expands a lot of the game rules and options.

I will get to see my oldest son next week at a Thanksgiving get-together. I am going to bring a surprise copy to him - he loves that kind of stuff and runs/plays some games now with his buddies. We're going to hang out and review that in secret side meetings away from the rest of the family crowd, so I think I should have eyes-on it really early at release time. I'll try to send a review out if anyone is on the fence about whether the investment is worth it or not.

Do you guys think that book will a cool booster pack on 5e?
