Don't cave, J, I agreed with your initial description. It just makes sense.

Well I also agree that higher ground should grant Advantage. That's something sorely lacking from 5e IMO. If it were up to me the Dis/Adv would cancel each other out. But will respect whatever you decide, J. All of us here know damn well by now that your rulings always serve the narrative, which trumps mechanics in my book!

I'm fine with the advantage on the rolls. It makes sense. The 5e rules clearly have an oversight on this issue.

This game has the coolest action scenes ever! Round 1 was beautiful and savage! Damn, J!

Hey, just a point of clarification: did Ivor end up spending a superiority die on that Riposte or did that end up not happening for lack of suitable target? Just making sure I'm tracking my resources right. :-)

Ez, I'm all for Kray's plan. How do we make that happen?

Ya, this new version of the team is freaking clearing the deck. I can only imagine the scene from the opponents' perspective. They were set up for ambush, ram, board, and overrun. Seconds later, after seeing a huge chunk of their force shredded, these guys are facing the threat of a complete turn and reversal - now they will likely be fighting for their own ship and even their lives.

Ivor did NOT use Riposte. No real candidates available for that.

Jabes

We got on the ship and cut em down until they get for mercy. Killing Valates should motivate them to surrender, along with the fact that they're already shaken from watching us murder their co-workers.

It's the getting on their ship part that I'm trying to picture. Their deck is 7ft higher than the Keshets. Even if we had ladders we'd be target practice for the fuckers. Worse if it's a rope climb with Athletics checks or whatever.

Let's just get Maeriks to throw us over the rail.
Dec 16, 2017 6:09 pm
Maeriks Heshbeen wanting to do that forever!
Dec 16, 2017 8:41 pm
Or we use Maeriks' back as a springboard and...

That was a dopely written and well timed fog cloud CB. Maeriks the miracle maker!

All a-fucking-board!

Maybe Bryn could cover from the boat with arrow fire. Tough shots with fog. He could also throw some gear across after we take the boat.

J, can we get an estimate on how long until our boat starts to go down?

Yea Bryn is in a good position for some overwatch, but the fog might make it hard.

Is the fog over our boat, over theirs, or in the middle?
Dec 17, 2017 7:48 pm
20 ft radius from the center of the fire, with adjustment up to J as he envisions it.

Is the area where Ivor goy clotheslined now under fog? Would those two be blinded?

Hard to say exactly in the heat of the confusion. But it's going to be a range of minutes, not seconds.

Yes, they are Blinded. But if that is a suggestion that they should have failed the check automatically or been imposed Disadvantage, I spoke in the Ep 2 thread during mechanics explanation(here and here) about how opponents who are both within fog face each other in adjacent melee at no Advantage or Disadvantage. And there is definitely no auto-fail application for 2 guys pushing a guy back over a rail that he just climbed over. That has very little to do with sight.

That didn't even occur to me. I assumed CB is asking because he's planning Maeriks' next move. :-D

Right, just working out if they would see Maeriks climb aboard. I had assumed that Ivor's action and splashdown occurred in the short moments before the fog spread.
