Talius

Talius clashes against a wiry Gand holding a hatchet and knife. He has a large cut on his forehead and blood is dried all over his face. His hair is shaved on the sides, making a tall mohawk of his filthy hair.

Opponent successful on resist to Shove.
Opponent fails WIS check, has Frightened Condition.
Hammer attack is a hit.

The Gand lowers a shoulder and presses through Talius' shield-charge, but Talius' own ferocity is extremely violent. The hammer crashes down on the Gandish in Menacing fashion. The display of brutality seems to make the wild Gand falter ever so slightly.

Attack results: 9 and 6, clearly misses.

His hesitancy costs him. Neither of the Gand's attacks are able to get past Talius' defenses.

Qiu

A tall muscular Gand covered in red paint and brown dried blood barrels in at Qiu, roaring out a battle cry and wielding a large wood-handled axe.

Opponent loses STR Athletics comparison. Opponent Gand has Grappled condition.
Opponent attempts to oppose Slam Action.

Qiu shoots in under his shield, hooks the Gandish by one leg, and pulls it in.
OOC:
CB, I checked the Slam Action House Rule and saw that that is a Ability Comparison rather than a d20 Attack attempt. You had already sent a STR comparison later in the rolls for "Disarm" so I am using that for the Slam attempt and will disregard the d20 Slam strike roll, to keep things moving.
Opponent fails STR Athletics comparison.
Is Slammed. Receives Damage from Slam, and has Prone Condition.
Slam results in Disarming of opponent.
Grappled condition continues.

Qiu heaves the big Gandish over, smashing him hard into the ground. The large axe is dislodge from his hand and Qiu kicks it away while maintaining a tight grip on the Gand's leg.

The Gand, now with no weapons but still extremely violent, reaches upward and attempts to wrench Qiu's shield from his hands.

Opponent uses Action to attempt to pull Qiu's shield free. Will consider this a contested STR Athletics vs. Qiu's choice STR Athletics or DEX Acrobatics. Opponent has Advantage STR checks, but is Prone with Disadvantage. Cancels out. 1 normal STR Athletics check to wrest shield free.

Opponent STR Athletics Attempt for Shield grapple result is 11. Qiu needs to beat this in order to maintain control of his shield.

Ivor

Ivor notices that Qiu just slammed the Gandish he is facing to the ground next to him. The Gand is on the ground and grappled by the Alijanian. Ivor judges that he can capitalize on the Gand's vulnerability and make a quick stab at Qiu's opponent before turning back to square off against his own.

Opportunity attack permitted vs. Qui's opponent.
Attack is a hit.
OOC:
That is a hit and the damage will stand. Since Qiu's opponent is Prone, you can roll an additional Attack attempt if you want to see if you roll a 20 for critical.

Talius seizes the opportunity to make a retaliatory strike when the Gand misses. He then follows up with a backhanded shield strike and aims for his enemy's chest with his hammer.
OOC:
Edit: I forgot the shove athletics roll. And I will Action Surge if he is prone. Talius wants this fucker dead.

Kray watched the melee, appraising the potential of what might be House Mercon's latest additions in manpower.

Ivor was clearly skilled in the classic net and trident gladiator technique, a traditional fan favorite in arenas. The gand he had so expertly netted was a quick bastard though, and escaped any real hurt Ivor tried to put on him with his trident. Qiu was... a shield wrestler? Kray hadn't seen that before, and wondered if it had any practical use outside of Pylosean pit fighting. Qiu had very efficiently put his gand on the ground though, which Ivor immediately took advantage of by skewering him with his trident. A couple of pit fighters that could pair nicely on the battlefield.

He almost smiled at the sight of Talius' soon to be victim. The gand was practically pissing himself in fear, which was no surprise. Kray had known him for two years and Talius had that effect sometimes. Poor fucking gand doesn't know that his skull will be caved in soon. Talius was a contradiction in some ways, as Kray often wondered how someone so ultra-violent could be so skilled at medicine.

Glancing at Thorn, he knew the man had a bit of internal conflict when it came to violence and morality, but it seemed he was willing to put in the time to bleed these gands out, having only missed the opportunity by a mere moment. Fates know he makes quick work of foes with that two-hander. Based on what was happening out there, those Gandish would be lucky to have their heads removed cleanly.

Thoughtful, Kray keeps an eye on the action outside of the Circle of War as well, always mindful of the periphery, letting his gaze fall on the druid. Eyes still on Scachan, he speaks just loud enough so Thorn can hear. "You know... legend has it that they can change skins, become animals." Kray looks back at the fight in time to see Talius press the advantage with a counterattack, plucking the fruit of his foe's pathetic attempts at an offensive. Poor, wretched bastard. His gaze pans over the crowd on the way back to Scachan. "I wonder if he's a wolf. If so, do you think he fucks other wolves while he howls at the moon?"

So, Kray has known Talius for two years, since the Battle of Giant's Ford (Fathac Trasu in Dannein). I'm assuming he's known Thorn for (almost?) as long, since Thorn joined House Mercon sometime (soon?) after the battle. Anyway, I'm assuming Kray knows a bit about Thorn's morality when it comes to violence (referring to the Urdav bit).

As far as Kray eying the crowd and such, just a reminder J: he has Observant, which comes with the ability to read lips (assuming he can glean any benefit here).

Talius

Riposte attempt: Hit

Talius makes the mohawk Gand pay for the missed attacks, hammering into the wild man's shoulder when he extends through on his swing with the hatchet. Immediately after, Talius swings with full weight behind his shield.

Opponent does not resist Shove, knocked Prone.
Attack on Prone Opponent: Hit

The Gand is knocked over sideways as the shield crashes into him. He stumbles down and tries to turn around to better defend himself.
Too late. Talius has already stepped forward to press the advantage. His hammer swings in a full arc, high in the air, and comes crashing down onto the Gand's chest.
Talius feels his adversary's sternum crack. The head of hammer is partially caught in the Gand's rib cage. The Gand writhes in agony for a second or two before the life darkens out of his bloodshot eyes.

Kray

Kray continues to scan the area within the Circle and without. He takes note that several of the Danneins and Voldruvans seem to be doing the same. He is apparently not the only one making sure not to get too drawn in on the action. Kray has come to learn that Danneins especially are some of the most alert of all people, as they have often lived a hard life surrounded by so much danger, from the environment and from one another, and also because most of them are expert hunters.

Kray looks across the Circle and spies Zaituc talking to Daig. Reading lips, Kray deduces Zaituc's comment to his cousin, "Watch the Alijanian now. Though he has that hatchet at his side, my money is that he will never draw it to hand now that he has hooked that goblin's leg."

With one last smash Talius buries his hammer into the skull of the Gand and takes off toward his next victim.
Apr 12, 2017 2:38 pm
And there it is, the caved in skull.
Apr 12, 2017 4:29 pm
Ivor laughs with grudging almost-respect when, after managing to dodge his attack, his opponent puts the net temporarily out of play. The retiarius gives the skull-bedecked Gand no respite however: he pushes forward with a sweeping-hooking motion aimed low, calf-height, aiming to knock the man off his feet and quickly strike again when his face is in the dust.
OOC:
• Bonus Action to Rage.
• Action for trident attack. If a hit, then Trip Attack: add Superiority Die result to damage, and target must save STR vs. 14 or fall prone.
• If opponent falls prone, Action Surge for another trident attack with advantage.

Ivor

Rage activated Top R2.
Trident Attack is a miss.

The agile Gand sidesteps the would-be deadly trident thrust. With considerably fluid motion the Gand feints a knife throw, but instead tucks the knife away in a belt. With both hands free he leaps to the side to plant a foot on a smaller fallen stone inside the circle. With a motion nearly unbelievable, the Gand makes a great leap upward and away, grabbing a handhold at the top corner of the large menhir stone that was behind him moments prior. The stones is well over 10 feet high!
OOC:
This huge leap is impressive maybe, but it is also a Disengage attempt. Normally it would have been good enough to buy some space, but not good enough for Ivor "Sentinel" Mac Connell. Opportunity Attack still permitted for Ivor as Reaction during Bottom R2.
J, standing by for numbers.
The Dannein gladiator though, is not caught flat-footed by the feint and swift movement of his adversary. Ivor presses forward quickly and relentlessly as the Gand is pulling up.
Apr 12, 2017 5:32 pm
Reacting quickly as the Gand tries to pull himself up the rock, Ivor thrusts his Trident at the man's exposed back....but the dirty bugger is too quick!
OOC:
Dammit! *Jabes enters Rage*

Yo, Jabes. Is the 20 out to get you or what, bro? Was anticipating The Sentinel reducing this slippery feral bitch's Speed to 0 on that Reaction attack!
Well you've taken the bad numbers on the chin, the good ones are due to come around...
Ivor stabs upward, gripping his trident near its end to get the full extension of the weapon. The animal-like Gand heaves up, narrowly drawing up his leg before it is gigged like a Drakkenmire swamp frog. The trident instead hits the stone menhir with a loud clink. The elusive Gandish lets out a hissing scream as he leaps from the flat top of one stone tower to another, covering a distance of more than 15 feet!

An audible murmur erupts from the crowd, which has been nearly silent up until this point.

At Ivor's feet, near the base of the stone menhir that the Gand climbed, lies his net that the Gand tossed away from access moments ago.

Combat Sequence Update:
End of Round 2 for Ivor.
End of Round 2 for Talius, marked previously by thematic skull crack double tap.
Awaiting Qiu's comparison check for Bottom R1 (Gandish Shield grab attempt), and then Top R2 counteract.
Apr 12, 2017 7:04 pm
OOC:
wow you guys posted a hell of a lot. Time for Qiu Hua, or as the ladies call him, "The Huas", to get caught up.
Qiu, anticipating the grab against his shield, leans in hard, attempting to convert the Gand's own pulling force into a crushing blow with the shield's edge into the temple of the gand.
OOC:
Edit: After damage
The shield rings with a nice, low "dinnnn" as it bounces off the skull of the gand. Hardly skipping a beat, it continues to rake and slash at Qiu, who deftly sidesteps around the prone creature, deflecting the razor-like claws with both shield and mail when they do find him. In part, his continual dance around the beast also serves to keep dragging it along the ground, within reach of Ivor.
