Qiu
aka The Biggest Huas that You've Seen Thus Far...

Shield Grab resisted.
Shield bash attempt: Hit

As the Gand tries to pull the shield free, Qiu uses his opponent's effort to his own advantage, crashing the edge of the heavy shield down into the Gand's upper chest.
OOC:
Good damage recorded. Anticipating kill makes sense, for a normal opponent. But the Gandish drink up ass-whippings like protein shakes when they are enraged in full deathmatch mode. This guy takes the hit and is still clawing at Big Huas for Bottom Round 2.
The Gandish attempts to take control of the wrestling hold, seeking to grapple Qiu and pull him in. Along with that effort, the Gand heaves upward and tries to bite Qiu with his sharp filed teeth.

STR Athletics Check for Grapple Attempt: 11. Qiu must beat this in opposing check or get Grappled Condition.
Qiu's hold endures. Grappled condition continues for Prone opponent for Top R3.
Bite Attack Attempt Result: 14
Suspect that is a miss, but if not then Bite Damage: 4

Rolls

STR Athletics to Grapple

STR Athletics to Grapple Advantage

Bite Attempt

Bite Damage if successful

Previous post updated to just say Qiu is dragging the trash around the yard, keeping close to Ivor.
Grapple resist coming up...
OOC:
Edit: Oh shit! I'm grappled! That bite doesn't even come close, however.
With teeth click click clicking loud enough for all to hear, the big gand grabs hold onto Qiu firmy, locking the two together.

Qiu

Grappled Condition begins for PC Bottom R2.

With a firm grip on Qiu's shoulder and kit strap, the Gand heaves backwards with everything he has, roaring out wildly, attempting to heave the Alijanian forward and into the ground behind him.
OOC:
Gandish Relentlessness: can attempt Slam as Bonus Action on Grappled opponent.
Opponent has Advantage STR checks but is also Prone so suffers Disadvantage. Cancelled out. 1 STR Athletics Check to attempt Slam.
Slam Attempt Result: 22. Qiu must beat in order to avoid Slam at Bottom R2.

Rolls

STR Athletics for Slam Attempt

Slam Damage if successful

Qiu takes a couple akward steps as the Gand attempts to use it's weight and a pivot of it's hips to drop Qiu.

PC resists Slam.
Grappled condition still applies. PC movement rate 0.

An experienced grappler, Qiu is barely able to shift his feet and weight quickly enough to avoid flipping end over end from the Gand's strong heave.

End of Round 2 for all PCs and Opponents.
Begin Top Round 3 when ready, first come-first served PC Actions.

Layout review:
Qiu is wrapped up with the tall Gandish near the middle of the ring.
Ivor moved to one edge close to one of the large stones.
The feral Gand just leaped from one stone to another and appears to be in the act of making a break for it.
Talius is standing near by and has considerable flexibility of where to move. He is approx 15 feet from Qui/Gand wrestlers, approx 25 feet from Ivor, and approx 45 feet at an angle upward from the feral Gand on the stone tops.

DMJ says:
The Gand's strapping arms remain wrapped around Qiu's torso however, denying him the ability to move the Gand into striking range for Ivor's trident.
Qiu's move was before the gand's attack, but I'm happy to go with this fiction if you like.

OOC:
Definitely don't want to actualize any fiction. Let's talk it through to make sure.

So Qiu does Move Action during Top R2. When Grappling, movement is cut in half. But Qiu is exceptionally fast from Mobile Feat. He still steps out, dragging the Gand 20 feet towards Ivor who is standing close to the stone menhir now.

I can buy that.
CORRECTION: Movement to positioning for ally to capitalize on Reaction for Sentinel Feat.
Reaction already used by ally during Top R2, but is ally Reaction is available for use Top R3.
OOC:
Fair enough?
Qiu and Ivor

Qiu is able to drag the clawing Gand over next to Ivor before he himself is grappled and stalled. Just as Ivor sees the feral Gand leaping from one stone top to another, he notices that his friend Qiu and the other Gand are grappling one another near his position, just a few feet away from his net.

To reiterate: Jabes, Ivor has option to use R3's Reaction to Attack Qiu's wrestle partner, theoretically before any other Action or Movement that would likely come immediately after.

Top R3 Shield Bash: Hit

Qui's shield crashes again down heavily on the Gand. Fresh blood burst across the beast-man's face. Relentless, he continues to writhe and claw at the Alijanian, trying desperately to get free or somehow turn the tables on the pit fighter.
Apr 12, 2017 9:05 pm
Not wanting the Gand to get away, Talius wastes no time and rushes as close to the would be escapee as possible and hurls an axe from his belt to try and knock the Gand from his perch.
OOC:
Moving full 30 feet to the Gand to stay within normal throwing range of the axe.
OOC:
Post roll Edit: Bye, bye axe!

@DMJ How big are hese stones? I gather 15 ft tall and separated by 15 ft each. How much space is on the top? Is that thing going to have a running leap?

Talius

First Axe throw: Miss
Second Axe throw: Hit

Talius throws one hand axe, and then another, at the agile Gand when it lands on the top of the second menhir stone. The first axe sails past the target, but the second axe hits the feral beast man on the shoulder. The second axe changes trajectory slightly and wobbles down to the ground outside of the circle clearing.

Reasonable question. The stones are not exactly uniform in measurement, nor are their placement one from another exactly consistent
Height: various, around 12-15 feet
Space Between: various, last one was 15 feet, others are both further and closer
Top shelf space each stone: various, but none more than 5 feet

Despite these stats, the previous leap did happen: 15' across with no more than 1 step of a run.
Inhuman? Possibly
Impossible? Apparently not for this fellow

OOC:
Ox's Action Surge is legit. He was going to use it previously but did not because the guy was dead on the first hit. We talked about it and addressed that directly. That second skull cracker was just theatrics, interacting with environment of a dead body on the ground.

Thorn watches the ruckus. These Gands are horrific. Not a bad idea to inspire fear in your enemies. Unfortunately for them, Talius is immune. Appears these pit fighters are as well.

He can see that Talius is a moment from crushing his inferior opponent. Thorn mentally bids farewell to another soul. Urdav would—
Quote:
"You know... legend has it that they can change skins, become animals."
Thorn nods. He's heard the legend, and now, finally seeing these Gands up close, it is believable. The agility and ferocity they have displayed up to this point is almost feline.

He follows Kray's gaze up to the druid on the hill.
Quote:
"I wonder if he's a wolf. If so, do you think he fucks other wolves while he howls at the moon?"
"Maybe we should ask him."

Thorn leaves Kray's side and makes his way around the circle and up to the Druid. He nods respectfully.

"What can you tell me about these Gands, Wise One?"
