Bird
TR7

The bird man, still reeling from the stab to the back wobbles to the side. His hands grope over his own shoulder and around his sides, seeking awkwardly to reach to his back. With a quick grab from his right hand, the man takes a violent hold of the bird mask and in one savage motion tears it over his head and casts it down on the deck.

Ivor sees the face of a Dannein man, in utter surprise and pain. His eyes dart around in confusion and desperation. As he spins, and now with the collar rim of the exotic mask removed, Ivor can see a long and thick metal rod of some sort, plunged directly into the man's back, to the inside of his left shoulder blade. It is pierced through his clothing. The outer tip of the large metal rod has a head of some sort, a flattened iron disc, almost like the blunt head of a giant needle sticking out the man's back at a shocking angle that suggests that the tip lies deep in the cavity of his chest. Though the man reaches towards this impalement, his hands cannot get a grasp of it.

Immediately beside the steel rod, peaking out above the back collar of the man's rugged clothing, is another wound. This one is festering and old, with reddened skin all about it. At the top of the sickened skin is the end of some sort of bone-like barb that runs perpendicular on top of the man's spine. The tip of the barb erupts from the man's skin in a small nub.

The woman has backed away now towards the shed, so the unmasked warrior turns back, with a look of horror at Ivor.

Still disoriented, he looks down at his clawed hands, as if surprised to see them. He then looks back up at Ivor, and his face turns to rage.

No combat Actions taken. For gaming purposes, the unmasked Bird has the Stunned Condition.

OOC:
You know, that's pretty much all Bad Guy Action for TR7. Poor Qiu is absorbing almost all of the Opponent Actions now.

CB, I have Qiu's Action for BR7 and will respond to that first, though it will be later tonight at best.

Ivor, Kray, and Talius are cleared hot for BR7, so fire for effect when ready.

X, it is still fine to wait - I know Thorn is staged up a little ahead, so no rush unless you want to press it.

I might be back on late tonight, but some chance I'm out until tomorrow mid-morning or lunchtime (US EST).

That woman must have been Rutcrana! Ivor's skin begins to crawl again, and the bile rises in his throat. No time for that now, he thinks. Kill this fucking bird already!

As the bird-masked man stares at him stupidly Ivor drives his trident into the man's hip, then chops the axe down hard near the man's breastbone.

I trust Kray glimpsed Rutcrana in action?

Ivor
BR7

Ivor's trident is a bit off aim. It does slam into the man's hip, but at an ineffective angle. The barbs are caught in a heavy layer of hide clothing and do not penetrate, instead only pushing the unmasked opponent backwards and spinning him slightly.

Trident Attack Miss.

But Ivor's axe crashes down heavy, tearing into the man's upper chest below his left clavicle before the swing carries through. Ivor feels the axe slide through flesh and can see blood right away.

Axe Attack Hit.

The man falters back, trying to get his bearings. The fresh pain brings a sign of life to the man's face. He snarls and howls in rage. Ivor notes that these are the first sounds out of the man's mouth since the battle began. The once-costumed man, for the first time, seems like an enraged Dannein warrior.
OOC:
Kray got a description of the developments on the upper deck. It was tailored to his vantage point, since he is further away and was on the move.
Assume that he does not have as much of the finer details as Ivor does, but yes, he has seen a new actor in the mix.
May 23, 2017 12:58 pm
On the move, Kray fires again at Bird. Son of a Gand! He watches the shot go wide, cursing himself for his haste and piss poor aim. Shooting like it's my first fucking time!

Staying low as he advances along the ridge, he keeps one eye ahead and another behind, vigilant for further surprises.

That's some top notch shooting there! Pew pew. Kray's going to have hang one of these masked guys from the cabin deck and use him for target practice later.

Continuing along that path outlined previously, looking to get that sweet spot between the deck and the lake to offer support both ways at less than long range (yet optimizing range to ensure distance has to be crossed to engage Kray in melee).

Fingers crossed for those of you tempting the Fates. Luck be a lady, and may the dice gods smile upon you.

DMJ sent a note to Ezeriah
Though frustrated with the missed shot, Kray keeps up a steady movement across the opposite high ridge crest. He is still operating at long range for the lake now, but feels that he will soon be able to take a position at a high point ahead that will allow him to provide reasonable range overwatch to both the upper deck and the lake below, and still allow for movement down to the shoreline or even back around behind the house by following the same ridge back if necessary.

Approaching position of normal range to both target sites (deck, lake). Could reach next round with Dash Action.
If maintaining option to Attack throughout, then predict optimal positioning after front loaded Movement during BR9.

Looking out to the lake as he moves, Kray sees no sign of Qiu and now Talius is no where to be seen either--only the course choppy waves of the muddy filthy waters.
May 23, 2017 11:30 pm
Talius, not wanting to become food for the local wildlife, and knowing that Qiu has been under water for quite some time he felt a twinge of fear for his companion and continued swimming toward where he thinks Qiu might be.

Im going to take the help Action for Qiu if I end up finding him to help him break the grapple.

Talius
BR7

Talius digs hard against the water with every stroke. The drag of the shield on his back is cumbersome and the weight of his armor and gear feels heavy.

Groping along through the murk, Talius can only feel around him. Though he opens his eyes, he sees only the brown and greenish swirl of water with only large chunks of trash sifting through periodically. He still tries to press on, searching for some sign of Qiu or his opponents.

Then Talius is hit. The tough scales of an alligator slide by in front of him. He feel one of the reptiles clawed legs scrape him as it paddles by. Resisting the urge to tear to the surface, Talius gives another heave forward into the water. With his gear on, he can feel himself sinking gradually downward into the deep.

Reaching outward with his hands, Talius' makes contact with a figure of some sort at the edge of his reach. As he sinks further, the commits to try to get a hold. It is a large wet batch of hide and fur - the bears mask!!

Giving it all he can, Talius pulls forward and tries to wrangle the large masked man in, grabbing his shoulders and pulling his arms.

Cutting through the water with his hands as much as possible, Talius rakes across an armor shoulder. It must be Qiu!
OOC:
Ox, good thinking. In the sequence though, Qiu has already acted in BR7, so no real way to provide Help Action until next round.
As an alternative, do you want to go sort of like "Offensive Help" - by maybe Grappling Bear directly with a STR Athletics contest?
Maybe trying to manually break an arm free, tear through a hold, etc. instead of really trying to get a hold yourself? I think that could work, and then tee up the Help Action during BR8 which might let Qiu break out from Goat.
See what you think and send a STR Athletics if you are interested.

Woman
BR7

Out of his peripheral vision, while battling the unmasked bird costumed Dannein, Ivor sees the nimble woman moving around the deck. She comes from the storage opening, and now carries a batch of strangely tied sticks and tarps under her arm.

She moves to the far (north end, and closest corner to the cabin) corner of the deck. This is off to the left from Ivor. She adeptly slams down on of the stick bundles vertically. It expands and turns into some sort of conical stand (something like the interior stick structure of a teepee, but of course much smaller, about 4' height).

On top of this apparatus she throws a rugged bag that has painted images and runes written on it. It is like a sort of vertical standing flag or marker.

As she is working, the woman speaks out in an authoritative voice. Ivor soon understands that she is chastising and heckling the unmasked bird costumed man.

"Your sad ending is near, Ludhaigh, you weak slow-witted fool. - you who are a slave - you who quit your arms and laid down to be raped by a repulsive unholy beast! You are no Son of Hannoc. Despair in your doom, wretch. Your voice will not be heard. Your name will be shamed forever."

Ivor sees the bird man faltering at the words, his confusion and desperation mixing with his pain and rage.

Constablebrew says:
By my accounting, Qiu is at -4 -17 HP now.
OOC:
OK, CB. Sorry to hear that.
Let's proceed slowly to see how it goes from here.

The neg 17 is bad. But as I'm thinking about it, House Rules give a circumstance that might give a little bit of opportunity.

I just looked back at House Rules on Severe Injury and Dying, here explaining "The Zero Hit Point State".
By that rule, Qiu was still, I think, operational at the point of the -4 HP. He was staggering, on the ropes, but still conscious because of his high CON that allows him to operate in the Zero HP State up until exactly that point -4. So he makes no death saves there.

The next hit has to be called what became the real threat on his life. That last stab pushed him BELOW his extended ZHPS. So he blacks out and then will begin making Death Saves per the normal rules, starting at BR8 (pretty much right now I guess) and will do that again every time his turn comes around.

If he takes more injuries, those would become automatic Death Marks unfortunately.

Your call on when to begin, but also take time if you need it. Read it over, and check everything as necessary.
Anyone else is welcome to chime in if they can think of any other sort of hopeful advantage or angle that I am missing.
If Qiu goes down, I don't want to have missed anything that could have helped him.

Good luck.
