OOC:
Ivor's Held action for Round 1: Bonus action to Rage, then one-handed Trident attack (off-hand holds Net in reserve).
OOC:
We need to be clear whether these are Readied actions as per PHB or they are special Held actions, something J made up because he's such a fan of the PC's (always a good trait in a DM). Are Delayed actions still a thing in 5th edition?

Readied actions spend your Reaction, while Delayed actions do not. And you know I love my Reactions!
OOC:
EDIT: Please ignore the second d20 roll. That was a typo -- should have been a d6 for damage.

Rolls

Trident attack, damage. - (1d20+7, 1d20+7)

1d20+7 : (13) + 7 = 20

1d20+7 : (18) + 7 = 25

Damage - (1d6+7)

(6) + 7 = 13

OOC:
Jabes, you are right in setting me straight on that rules vocab. Hold was not the correct word. I was envisioning the Ready Action, but misspoke. Sorry no specialized Hold House Rule. Unfortunately the Ready Action DOES burn a Reaction for that round. You are right: I see that Sentinels would think of Ready Actions as ....missed Opportunities.
Ivor
TR1

1 Hand Trident Attack: Hit

Ivor holds readies his trident until the right moment as the Deep Ones begin to swim in and then thrusts the weapon forward at the first creature within reach, jabbing it on the shoulder as it closes in.

Maybe I'm missing something... Jabes, Ivor has +7 damage? Did you accidentally add proficiency or is there some cool feat I don't know about? Because I would def get that feat.
Jun 27, 2017 12:31 pm
Bryn launches his javelin at the Deep One making its way toward the group.

Rolls

Javelin w sneak - (1d20+6, 3d6+4)

1d20+6 : (4) + 6 = 10

3d6+4 : (262) + 4 = 14

I'm pretty sure it's just STR plus Rage, y'all.

Ah, I see. Completely forgot the Rage bonus, probably because I use DEX weapons. I was thinking 18 STR + 3 proficiency.

OOC:
Ivor is Barbarian 1/ Fighter 4. So his Proficiency bonus is only +2. He does have 20 Strength though. :-)

Proficiency is character level, not class level! Add that +3

Accounting of the battle thus far:

Kray + Maeriks kill Fish 1
Thorn injury to Fish 2, ranged
Ivor injury to Fish 3, melee
Bryn miss Fish 4, ranged

Lets be sure to focus fire on one or two fish at a time until dead

Good call, CB. I'm rocking an Excel file Battle Sheet MS Office-style for this - full throttle Project Management Professional (PMP) to keep it all straight!

Will try to post similar to your trend of numbering targets.

I think it would be a really confusing battle in reality, but on the boards for gaming purposes I know we need to be sharp and keep good track of all the numbers so that nothing gets lost in the shuffle or the translation.

Bottom of Round 1 (BR1)

Masterful swimmers, the Deep Ones use their superior water speed to maneuver and surround the consolidated group. With a flood of movement, the creatures dive and lurch forward from every angle, seeking to send such a barrage of attacks as to confuse and overwhelm the intruders.
OOC:
Will break up separate posts for each PC to stay organized.
