[note="DMJ"]A sense of urgency comes over Thorn to get back to the cabin. His allies are there, and even with Rutcrana saying she would assist, he is in the dark as to what kind of threat they may be facing. On the other hand, could this be some new threat moving in the bush? Might as well cast eyes on it quickly.

Mistaking wind for wolf may be shaming, but mistaking wolf for wind is deadly.

Thanks, Urdav.

Thorn moves as quietly as possible toward the sound, trying to get a better view and stopping when he has one.

Talius
BR4

DM discretion: denying Bull a resistance effort against the Shield shove because of circumstance. Shield shove is successful. Opponent knocked Prone.
Hammer strike attempt a hit.

Talius barrels into the kneeling bull costumed man, shield braced forward. The bull is knocked onto his back. Talius's downward hammer swing lands squarely on the man's head, with a thud and grotesque cracking sound.

The bull man goes limp and motionless.

[note="Xorthan"]Thorn tries to approach without being detected.

As Thorn shifts carefully through the thicket he comes up to a small clearing, very small, about 20' diameter cleared out around the south facing ground in front of the old dying hardwood seen from a distance previously.

Shockingly, Thorn sees:
1) The phantom, with his back to the tree, crouching down and leaning his head forward.
2) A huge grotesque crusty bulbous gray flesh-like mass on the tree. It is about 5 feet oblong along the length of the tree, with the bottom of it about 2 feet from the ground. It is about 1-2 feet thickness away from the tree, on one side, facing the clearing.
3) A tentacle or tube of some sort protruding from the mass and touching the upper crest of the phantom's back, he has his shirt collar loose in the back and his mask pulled forward slightly. The tube is shifting slowly and sort of pulsing. The body of the fleshy crusted mass is bulging and shifting on the tree, similar to the way a slug's body moves in waves.

As Thorn gets the vision of this, the phantoms head snaps up and looks straight at Thorn, when he is about 25 feet away, just within the last ring of undergrowth before the clearing. The wrapped masked man instantly stands up. He is holding a forward curving short sword and a long Bone-handled knife, one weapon in each hand. The tube pulls away from the phantom and rools collapsible back into the bulbous mass.

The Phantom squares off for battle, or chase. Thorn knows that he will not be able to withdraw without a fight.
Opponent Initiative Result 19.

Ezeriah says:

Somehow I imagine Kray's Uncle Rison to be like Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York-- really familiar with anatomy and weak/vital spots to exploit. From what I've gathered, Rison comes off super methodical and calculating. No doubt Kray learned some of that from his Uncle.
OOC:
I am not entirely familiar with that movie, but I have seen parts of it. Looked up a pic of that character, - that's definitely a great hit on the imagery.
Can definitely see Rison being a heavy influence on Kray- maybe both a good influence and a bad one. Calculating much of the time, but quick to anger, wrathful and confrontational frequently. Probably too frequently is the most common opinion within the house. Most people hate Rison, and many fear him. Kray could likely be one of the few people, inside the family or out, who have seen the benefits of learning from him, even though the risk has been high and the interchanges unpleasant at times.

[note="DMJ"]
OOC:
Are we still operating 7-8 rounds ahead of the rest here? Can Thorn yell for his buddies, or would that upset the time-space continuum?
Thorn's eyes widen at this new foe. Fingol at least appeared human, and his tricks were easy to explain. This... this would take more rationalizing.

As the being's head raises and beholds him, Thorn swallows. An unfamiliar knot begins to form in his gut. As the beast begins to ready itself for a fight, the Yuoric grimly reaches for his blade.

Got it.
One more hit we can go with for a head-knocker, but probably need to forgo some of the extended double and triple tapping for thorough costume breakdown. If you want to move to relocate to that place on next round and attack those guys where they are now, better step to it and fast.

Goat
TR5

From Prone and Grappled Condition, Goat seeks to:
Grapple Qiu - Grapple Advantage STR Athletics for capability, but Disadvantage because of Prone condition. Cancellation of adjustments. Single roll will apply.
Cut Qiu with sickle blade - Disadvantage from Prone condition

Result:
Grapple Attempt: 19 (number to beat on comparison)
Sickle: Hit 18, Damage if successful 11
OOC:
For any nerds reading between the lines, I'm formally coming out on the side of the debate that a Grapple attempt is an attack. I know there was some back and forth on Admin about it being either that or an Ability Check. I was in the Ability Check camp at first, but was swayed by the strength of argument (fielded capably by Counselor Ezeriah, esq.) and a thorough read on the rules. The differentiation doesn't always make a difference in a practical way, but sometimes it does. Like now. Should goat, Prone, get a Disadvantage on the wrestle try? Yes if it is an Attack. No if it is a check. We are going with Yes here.

All of Bird-man's claw attacks miss. Spending Reaction for Riposte Maneuver.
Round 5 Action: Menacing Attack Maneuver: If hit, Bird-man must save vs DC 14 WIS or be Frightened of Ivor until Ivor's next turn.

The bird-man is quick, but Ivor's battle-honed reactions are quicker. He dodges the sweeping claws and retaliates with a short thrust of his own, aimed for the hamstring. Ivor snarls, spittle flying, as he follows up with yet another jab.

[note="DMJ"]Thorn can’t help but be impressed with this strange creature’s flurry of blows. The short sword catches him, then the knife snakes out, and he is able to parry it aside and strike at his opponent’s wrist before the short sword reaches him once more.

Thorn intuitively realizes this ghost thing can take him down. His sense of urgency is still there. He needs to get back to his people. He steps right, feigning a swinging attack, but then, using the momentum from his parry, he makes a short drawing cut at the man’s knife-wielding forearm, hoping to take one of these weapons out of the equation.

Assuming the Riposte misses. Feint attack roll is 24, if this is a hit I calculate 20 total points of damage (3+5+4+8)

So, just to make sure I've got this straight:

Bear and Goat are on Qiu, in the drink with gators approaching. Talius is going to help Qiu with them. Ivor is fighting Bird (where exactly I'm not sure-- an external level of the building, a lower roof area?), and Phantom jumped on to the roof and moved to fight Thorn, wherever he is fighting Fingol Creature?

Also, are we officially at BR5 PC's turn? I know Thorn(?) and Ivor have already acted for R5 against their opponents, and it seems the NPC's are done. It's the 'seems' part that has me checking, just in case there is some surprise on the way since J hasn't rung the 'BR5' bell. Not that anyone wants more surprises.

Ezeriah says:
[color="blue"]So, just to make sure I've got this straight:...
OOC:
Good call. Crazy ass scene blowing out in every direction. A moment to clarify:
OOC:
Bear, Qiu, and Goat are doing a wrestle sandwich out at knee-level swamp water, approx 40' from where Bull/Talius/Kray were fighting down close to the outer deck of the hut in the low root covered ground.

Talius is now a little over half way covering that ground to get to them. If everything stays on schedule/position, Talius will arrive next round and be able to act at that locale during BR6 BR5.

Ivor is on the outer cabin deck fighting Bird. That deck is about 10' - 16' high (because of slanting ground) and connected to the cabin. The deck overlooks both fight locales below in a way because one corner is near the Kray/Bull fight scene near the dry side and then it also is built partially over the water so the other corner is out over the lake. The deck does not have any real stairs going up to it. To reach it is more like a rugged climb on slippery roots and then the support beams and boards of the deck itself.

Thorn is really out of the picture. Or no one sees him or knows what he is doing at the moment. Behind the proverbial game-play side room curtain, his actions are a little bit ahead for reasons we could talk about later, but we will blend back together as I see how the other stuff develops.

And yes, the Phantom Menace is gone. Ducked out over the roof of the house.

Keep in mind what people can and can't see. I don't think anyone on the ground has had any visual on Thorn or Ivor or Phantom for quite a while (a while of 6-12 second intervals that is). Bird was there with everyone for a while, but ditched and Jedi thrust jumped up onto the upper deck to make introductions with Ivor.

We are still, for now, in the middle of TOP OF ROUND 5. Bad guys are still attacking.
At this moment, awaiting counter wrestle moves from Qiu. Not 1, but 2 of them (from Bear and Goat each).
After that, Bear will decide his second Attack based on result.
Plus the alligators are about to go buck wild Discovery Channel, but I have to see what the whole scenario is with the Battle in the Bayou pay-per-view.

In advance, I have Ivor's Bottom Round 5 actions. Those will be covered first after we transition from TR5 to BR5.
