Ygne beams, "Ha! I like her. I'll handle this." Before it can be protested, Ygne steps forward and calls up, "The fuck is that our ship is a pile of wood on a beach and we just killed a lot of fucking lizards! We didn't have anymore lizards to kill, so we came here!"
Apr 6, 2017 5:16 am
Elspa nonchalantly elbows Ryngar in the chest without looking at him, a wordless gesture of restraint.
Apr 6, 2017 5:38 am
Like a dog spritzed with water, Rygnar shakes his head and stands still; his fists uncurl, his growling and scowl cease, and his eyes open as they break contact with the woman and observe his surroundings.

Elspa rolls her shoulders while waiting for those talking to establish the proper negotiations.
Apr 6, 2017 7:49 am
"She goan get us all killed." Jarveena mutters. With subtle hand signals and voice pitched just so, she says to Ygne, "Hey, watch it. These folks got nuthin' we wanna take. Killin' em's waste o' time an me arrows."

Frick chuckles, appreciative of Ygne's 'tact' and 'diplomacy'. He stands casually and waits to see what is gonna happen.
Apr 6, 2017 3:54 pm
Ygne glances over at Jarveena and looks somewhat surprised, as though her immediate thought is did I say something wrong? She takes a moment, plainly thinking over her words, and then calls back up, "Eh, not that we're here to kill anyone else!"

She clicks her tongue a few times, scratching her chin, "Unless there's someone ya don't like, up there!"

"Shit! You came from that island?"

The woman points to the island you came from and then speaks to the others in their mother tongue. There is a murmur of surprise that spreads through the group, and you detect a hint of approval. Someone makes a comment and the whole group bursts into laughter.

Laughing, she adds "That is a story that I must hear one day. I am Khiva of the Jaguar, first daughter of Kava - chief of Panitube - and She Who Has Gone Beyond The Reef. Who the hell are you?"
Apr 6, 2017 4:07 pm
Moss bows towards Khiva,
Greetings Khiva of the Jaguar, My name is Moss, I am a healer and for a change of clothes and a warm bed for the night, I would be willing to lend you my services...

"That's not how it's done," the barbarian says quietly, and steps forward.

"I am Elspa," she announces, "Friend of Bear, First Hunter of the Grey Pack, and Iron Wolf of the Sea Witch."

"And I'm Ygne the Wicked!" The thief calls out, trying to stand tall, as Elspa does. "Killer of Lizards!" After a pause, she looks around the party, spots Moss, and adds, "And Saver of Kings!"
Apr 6, 2017 5:09 pm
Frick stands and puffs out his chest importantly like he's about to make a grand announcement, then he laughs, "I am Frick, Drinker of Booze and Killer of Shit that needs killing!"
Apr 6, 2017 6:23 pm
It takes Jarveena a moment to realize she's expected to make a grand introduction of her own. "Jarveena. The Maimed." she says levelly, and without bravado, her one-eyed gaze steadily on Kava. A female chieftain. She likes this tribe already.

[ +- ] She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef
They toss down a cloth-wrapped bundle that clatters at your feet, opening to reveal ivory rods and simple, colourful garments of style that you see other villagers wearing.

"Scrub yourselves with these in the ocean to rid yourself of the smell and disease of the Shit Eaters. These clothes are yours if you wish them. These are our gifts to you in thanks for killing fucking Shit Eaters."

She then gestures to a stair cut into the rock in the cliff face, and the six black-clad figures standing at the top. Their faces are covered in a hammered copper mask that have the contours of a face but with no openings for eyes or mouth.

"When you are clean, our ancestors will bring you to your hut, where we will talk more. You will keep your weapons because we respect you as warriors. But there will be many with weapons watching you, because we respect you as warriors. I tell this to you not to frighten you, but to make sure there are no misunderstandings."

"Have I made myself clear, Moss the Healer; Ygne the Wicked, Killer of Lizards and Saver of Kings; Elspa, Friend of Bear, First Hunter of the Grey Pack, and Iron Wolf of the Sea Witch; Frick, Drinker of Booze and Killer of Shit that Needs Killing; and Jarveena the Maimed?"

Rygnar makes no effort to announce himself, wear their clothes, or wash off his filth.
Apr 7, 2017 1:15 pm
Sick of smelling like a trog, Frick gladly takes the offered cleaning products and clothing.
Apr 7, 2017 1:42 pm
Moss will gladly take up the offer to wash himself...
Apr 7, 2017 3:58 pm
Elspa inspects one of the ivory rods, and ignores the offered clothes. She is not opposed to cleaning up, reasoning that even a wolf likes a bath now and again, but she wonders how the rod factors into all this.
[ +- ] If she can't figure it out...
"Rygnar, even a bear takes a dirt bath," she jokes to the big man.

Jarveena is glad for the opportunity to wash the trog stink off her. She doesn't mind the clothes either. For a moment there she was worried they'd make her wear a dress!

CancerMan says:
... but she wonders how the rod factors into all this. Elspa washes her face and hair in the ocean, rubbing her exposed skin with her hand.
Although the ocean does a pretty good job of washing way the grim, no matter how hard your rub your skin with your hand, the smell of Troglodyte does not come off. You look to your pack members and see them scrubbing the rod against their skin. When you give it a try, you discover the ivory rod seems to pull the smell from your skin on contact, and begin to exude the absorbed odour themselves instead.

You conclude the ivory rods are possessed of powerful magics.
OOC:
Feel free to make your own conclusion instead, but I figured a investigation roll of 2 should have something fun attached to it. :)
