Ygne can only manage a snort and a laugh as Khiva addresses Elspa, though it's not certain if it's in a "told you so" manner, or if it's simply due to Khiva's speech pattern, which seems to thoroughly entertain her.

She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef is scarcely over 5 feet tall and maybe 100 lbs., but she admonishes Elspa like a child.

"No, you are not 'clean enough' . Shit Eaters carry plague in the bad air around them. If you want to die in your bed roll shitting your guts out, go back to Shit Eater Island. You want to enter Panitube? Then honour the request of your host."
Apr 9, 2017 6:53 pm
Ygne gives Frick a sideways glance and, with a huge grin, says, "Shit Eaters. I need to say that more." Looking toward Elspa, she rolls her head to stretch her neck a bit, and urges, "Just go use the dumb stinkrod so we can go inside and get some food, eh?" She gives Rygnar a glance, only so much as to apply the same suggestion to him.

Rygnar scoffs at the woman as he adjusts his greatsword out of the way and takes a seat on the steps.
Apr 9, 2017 8:43 pm
"You've given us safety on your land, and for that I am grateful," says Elspa, "but I don't need your witchcraft." She gives the masked figures a once-over, confirming for herself that these do not act like natural beings.

She taps Rygnar on the shoulder. "Come on," she says, and turns to head back down the steps. "We've slept outside city walls before; this is no different."

She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef merely shrugs and watches the two return to the beech. The drumming resumes and things start to go back to normal in the village. However, as She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef escorts you to your lodgings, you notice that some of the villagers look upon you with mistrust, while others avoid your gaze entirely. A brave few still show curiosity.

Your lodge is a spacious, round wooden hut with a thatched roof. There is one entrance, adorned with a string of scarlet lanterns, and once inside you find it spacious and cool. Empty windows ring the entire structure that can be shut with brightly-dyed canvas blinds. The only item of furniture is a long table with benches on either side.

Food is brought almost immediately. Wary villagers carry platters of smoked fish and roast chicken and pig on skewers, complemented with copious amounts of taro, cabbage, sweet potato, sugar cane, and coconut. A variety of nuts, herbs, and spices are liberally sprinkled on everything. Another set of villagers carry in bamboo mugs full of coconut water and another set contain strong mead. There is easily enough food for 2 full days of consumption.

The chief's daughter gestures for you to help yourselves.

"May you enjoy the legendary hospitality of Panitube! Now tell me, do you have other business here, or merely passing through on your way back to the Beyond?"

I can only speak for myself as I only recently join this group, but I think that we will only be passing through.
Moss takes very small bites of everything, keeping them in his mouth and closing his eyes doing satisfied sounds....
OOC:
Moss is suspicious of this "generous" meal and will try to check/taste everything he eats for poisons...If asked what he is doing, he will answer he is only savoring each bite of a so graceful meal, witch is not a lie considering what he has been eating since the last months. Ygne's excited attitude dims somewhat as Elspa and Rygnar choose to not enter, and she watches the two of them travel back down the stairs. Quietly, she follows their hostess to the hut.

As food is brought in, Ygne's eyes light up and she seems to have forgotten her previous disappointment. She does not share the same suspicion as Moss, and she happily begins digging in as soon as she's physically able. With her mouth half full, she replies to their hostess, "Passing through, but not back where we came. We're going to the big island, to find gold and jewels and get really rich."

Jarveena curses silently at Ygne's babbling. She chews her food thoughtfully. "Aye, jus' passin' through. Need supplies. Thank ye fer th' grub. What about our friends on th' beach?"

Elspa looks for a place to shelter for the night, preferably away from the wind. Once camp is found, she will try to find whatever herbs and other medicinal plants she can scavenge to supplement her kit and possibly take care of sickness, if these strangers are to be believed.

Rygnar follows Elspa down to the beach but keeps an odd distance away from her. His face looks like he is in perpetual pain.

If the guards stops me, I'll just sit back...
After Moss is finished eating, he start pilling a platter with half of it in meats, two mugs of mead (he didn't drink his) and the rest with some vegetables and fruits. And brings it outside to Elspa and Rygnar. He speaks with one of the local before going out.

I'm going to bring this to my friends outside, I will bring back the platter tomorrow morning if it's ok with you.

Jarveena watches Moss and nods with approval.

Frick stuffs his face as much as he possibly can, ravenous from their efforts in killing the trogs. When he sees Moss attempt to deliver food to the others, he gives him a respectful nod.

FRICK, JARVEENA, MOSS, YGNE

"It is okay, Jarveena, the Maimed. I have spent some time with your people; To hear Killer of Lizards and Saver of Kings speak this truth so plainly is refreshing. But, listen:"

Then she leans in close, and speaks in a quieter voice.

"This whole island is cursed. Venturing beyond our borders is very fucking dangerous. Others from beyond the reef have tried, and just make things worse"

She sits back up, adjusts her garments, and returns to her usual way of speaking.

At Jarveena's mention of passing through:

"And what do you mean passing through? Where are you going? There is no way off the islands anymore, not since that fukcing Farshore expedition."

At Moss's request:

"Ah, yes. Your filthy friends. Fine, but do not bring the platter back. And wash yourself, of course."

ELSPA AND RYGNAR

The beech is very spare of features and vegetation for quite a distance, likely by design to give invaders zero cover.
OOC:
In your search for shelter, do you want to prioritize proximity to the village or suitability for comfort and survival?

Ygne seems very pleased that she is referred to by her title. Compared to her upbringing, she feels like a person of royalty here. After wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, she adds, "I always speak plain." She grows very quiet as Khiva does, and leans in to hear her lowered voice. After her warning, Ygne leans back and, with a slap on the table, she glances at Frick, then back to their hostess and confidently states, "A cursed island isn't a worry! That last island was cursed, too. We had to kill those lizards two times, cause they didn't want to stay dead."

OOC:
Effective survival is preferable, so if we have to set up camp far from the village that is what Elspa will do.

ELSPA AND RYGNAR

The two of you make your way along the beach. Eventually you come across the jagged opening of a cave, more like a wide crack in the cliff than anything. It would make effective shelter and be highly defensible, but no guarantee that some other creature thought the same thing and is holed up inside.

Your efforts to find herbs strong enough to cure a full-fledged disease have not yet come to fruition.

MOSS

While carrying the food to the beech, you get a chance to observe the village a bit more. Daily life has mostly resumed now that your counterparts are housed in the guest lodge. However, you hear people whispering to each other as you pass.

The 6 masked guardians are no longer here, and as you approach the stair to the beech you see that neither are Elspa and Rygnar. Looking around, you spy the mysterious white-masked figure cloaked in black feathers is heading toward the waterfall at the rear of the village.

The warrior on the bridge continues his exercises, seemingly oblivious to all events around him.
