ELSPA and RYGNAR

The spirits begin to flicker and start to move in quickening, frantic circles as the sun sets. Eventually they tire and speed off into the night, descending beneath the waves.

Against the last dying light, you watch the black outlines of the sea and the islands war against the orange sky. You have to look twice, but you realize that among the islands you see the silhouette of ship on the water: a big, three-mast man-o-war. Its silhouette is positioned against the dark outline of the troglodyte island, making it very difficult to see. If it wasn't for the three spirits, you probably would have missed it entirely.

It is moving rapidly toward you.

Rygnar reaches back for his sword, resting a tight grip on it "I think we should warn Ja...that jaded village about this; I will not leave you alone."
Apr 20, 2017 12:19 am
"We don't know their intentions," says Elspa, "but no boat sailing without lights means well." She stands and dusts her rump before slipping her shield around her arm. She does not draw her axe just yet and says, "Let's go."
Apr 20, 2017 12:34 am
With a nod Rygnar takes off in a sprint towards the village at Elspa's confirmation; if Elspa doesn't match his enthusiasm, he'll slow slightly.
Apr 20, 2017 12:37 am
OOC:
Elspa's speed is 40, but like a wolf she knows their destination and does not have to be in close proximity during travel.
Apr 20, 2017 12:44 am
OOC:
Rygnar's speed is also 40, for unknown (to Elspa) reasons he would of dashed for 80 though but he is also like a needy puppy so he'd slow if Elspa doesn't match his pace.
Apr 20, 2017 12:48 am
Elspa does not dash, reasoning that a steady pace is good, especially if it means she retains focus on the surrounding night environment. The jungle is hungry, after all.

Frick watches with interest, then whispers to Ygne, "Think they'll let me fight the champion?"
Apr 20, 2017 2:13 am
Moss appears behind Frick,
From what I heard, he is called the seventh because six others are better than him. Maybe you should wait for one of them if you really want a challenge...just make sure your still alive so I can patch you up after.
If Frick or Ygne looks at Moss, they can see he is not betraying any emotions, but is intently watching the girl challenging the Seventh...

"Yeah, well, he's bigger an' tougher-looking. I bet he'll make short work of 'er, for sure." Ygne says, arms crossed and her weight shifted to one foot. She adds, "And not sure if you can fight 'em, Frick. They seem to have some strange rules."

She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef surprises you that she has overheard your conversation. She tries to yell over the drums and the crowd, keen to deliver exposition:

"The Seven are the seven greatest warriors of our people! Anyone can challenge the Seventh, but only the Seventh may challenge the Sixth, and so on! None of the Seven have to answer a challenge from an outsider, but they rarely deny any challenge! If Lumia wins here, she will be the first outsider to become one of the Seven, and the first from Panitube in 10 years!"

Jarveena watches with interest. She doesn't uunderstand what the ritual fight is about (if ritual it is) but she's secretly rooting for the girl, of course.

"Hmm..." he says, considering what he's learned, "I'll have to give it a try!" he decides.

As you run along the beech the last light fades and jungle grows still. However, the silence is suddenly broken by thunderous drumming coming from the village.

Keeping an eye on the ship, you can see landing craft being lowered from the man-o-war, and six great black shapes take flight from its deck.

"Perhaps they already know," wonders Elspa at hearing the drums. She continues to lope across the beach, but warier now that some things have taken to the sky.
Apr 20, 2017 5:34 pm
At the sight of things taking flight from the ship, Rygnar slows his pace to be at the side of Elspa, ready to fight by her side if they are spotted.

The whole village watches as the two fighters trade blows. Jahenna's speed barely keeps ahead of the Seventh's power, dodging savage blows left and right. He pushes back further and further until she ends up in a tight spot, but when he goes for the killing blow, she pulls off a feat of astounding acrobatic prowess to reverse their positions. With his mistake made, Jahenna unleashes the power of her amulet, enveloping The Seventh in a great orb of fire.

The crowd gasps at the turn of events, but as she turns triumphant towards the villagers, The Seventh strides out from the flames, unharmed. He tightens his grip on his massive sword and prepares for another round when his face suddenly turns to the sky. Jahenna does the same, and a short second later, they begin to scream out a word you have never heard:

"JAKATTA! JAKATTA!"

"Pirates!" She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef yells at you. "We are under attack!"

You turn your head to see six dark winged shapes in the sky, and suddenly crossbow bolts rain from the sky, thudding into bodies indiscriminately.

The village has erupted into chaos, as far as the sounds of it. You manage to make it to the base of the cliff stairs before the landing craft, which are still ~20 seconds away from the shore. There are 6 landing craft, each one loaded with 6 men. In addition, you've been watching the man-o-war turn its broadside toward the village.

Try not to bite of more than you can chew, because there's lots to chew here.
