Doesn't she take strain to maintain that form?
Oct 20, 2017 3:08 pm
Should we be making periodic Perception vs. Deception checks to notice "something is amiss"?
Oct 20, 2017 3:12 pm
She takes strain to assume a form, but I don't believe it costs strain to maintain (I'm away from my books at the moment, I'll double-check when I get home). I'm fine with opposed checks happening when the GM thinks its appropriate. Once the group has a chance to interact more and scrutinize her identity there will probably be an opportunity.

The fighters are still out of range of our cannons, but within range of the concussion missile launcher. Is it worth expending a missile to thin them out, and if so, who is in a position to fire the missiles?

(And I double-checked: Clawdites suffer 3 strain when they assume a form, but the rules say nothing about spending strain to maintain a form.)

The pilot or co-pilot would be able to fire missiles, I think.

And I'll just ask for Perception checks when appropriate, no need to keep doing it.

I had thought I'd throw in a little bit of space combat at the end, mostly because I'd never done it before and wanted a quick taste. I had no idea just how many things I'd need to keep track of! I need to stat out the crews of the freighters! Really wish I'd just throw a couple of minion groups of fighters at you guys now!

:-)

Yup. Took me a while to decide what I'd do because I've also never space combated before...
Oct 26, 2017 3:04 am
Yeah, I have no experience doing space combat either. I'm not sure what G'Rehth can do to be helpful from the sensors position anyway. Maybe spend his time turn scanning, to help the targeting systems on the missiles or turret? Roll well enough and grant "linked" quality on the attack?

Anq 3.6 Tracking Computer
The Anq 3.6 is a computer/fire control system that allows the Pathfinder’s sensor operator to coordinate fire amongst all ship weapons. The sensor operator must designate one target and make an Average (2 Purple) Computers check. If he succeeds, all combat checks made by ship weapons against his designated target upgrade the ability of their check once. If he has 3 Success or 1 Triumph on his check, he may designate an additional target.

Ok, G'Rehth will do that computers check for his action. Maneuver will be to "aim" to get a boost die...he's concentrating really hard on the readout.

Targeting nearest minion ship.

Rolls

Computers check for targeting.

2 Success, 1 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 1 Threat

The Serenditpity only has one weapon which works at Short range, the concussion missile launcher (stats for all weapons below). Because of Flamiel's check just now, any attack on the two M3-As gets upgraded once. Kaigen’s Aim maneuvers mean the next attack will get two Boost dice. Because of Monehs’ Gain the Advantage action, you get to ignore any Evasive Maneuvers next turn.

So what that means is that Ta’hida could snap off a shot from the Concussion Missile launcher and the roll would be his Gunnery with one Upgrade and two Boosts. Difficulty would be three Purple because the interceptors are two sizes smaller than the Serendipity.

I think that’s right, does it look to anybody like I missed anything?

Forward-mounted light laser cannons (Fire Arc Forward; Damage 5; Critical 3; Range [Close]; Linked 1).
Dorsal turret-mounted light ion cannon (Fire Arc All; Damage 8; Critical 4; Range [Close]; Ion],
Forward-mounted concussion missile launcher (Fire Arc Forward; Damage 6; Critical 3; Range [Short]; Breach 4, Blast 4, Guided 3, Limited Ammo 8)

Also, the Concusion Missile is Guided. The book says about Guided weapons...

Certain types of projectiles, such as guided missiles, may benefit from course alterations after being fired. If a character misses while firing a Guided weapon and if Guided is activated, he may make an attack check at the end of the round. The difficulty of the check is calculated by comparing the weapon's silhouette of 0 to the silhouette of the target (see page 249), and the check's Green Dice equal the weapon's Guided rating. If the test is successful, the weapon strikes the target, and damage is dealt normally.
Guided requires Three Success to activate, unless otherwise specified in the weapon's description. Remember, the Guided effect can activate on its subsequent attacks, representing the projectile continuing to track the target.
"Spoofing" is a countermeasure designed to work against a particular type of projectile, such as flares designed to draw off infrared missiles. Spoofing directly increases the defense of the target against attacks with the Guided quality.

Are the interceptors Silhouette 2? Most starfighters are 3, which would make it an Average difficulty check for the attack, but I'm not familiar with this particular model.

Also, I'm pretty sure you can't Aim for other people, so Vorin is the only one able to use those boost dice (they may not even be relevant by the time she has a chance to shoot, but I didn't really have anything better to do). Ta'hida could still use the upgrade from the targeting computer, though.
Oct 27, 2017 4:43 pm
Right on both counts. So the attack would be Average with one Upgrade.

I’m away at a wedding this weekend so I’m away from my books. Gunnery keys off of agility yes?
Oct 28, 2017 3:01 am
Agility, yes.
Oct 28, 2017 2:01 pm
So, if anyone wants to tell Ta’hida what he ought to be doing he’ll fire off some stuff. Since he has no idea.
Oct 28, 2017 6:28 pm
:-)

Use the Force!
Oct 28, 2017 8:43 pm
It's interesting that this is a gunnery check. I was imagining he'd just need to push a button, so computers or mechanics (or warfare). The turret would definitely be gunnery.
Oct 28, 2017 9:05 pm
Apparently operating complex targeting computers and automated weapon mounts fall under the Gunnery skill (F&D core pg. 130). I think there's a valid argument to be made that Computers would make more sense (or at least using a different characteristic from Agility), but then, in a setting like this that's true of a lot of things.
