Prologue: Destiny Calls

The docking clamps release just as the station spasms, violently pushing the Serendipity down and away.
OOC:
You are at the side of the station furthest from the planet, the two groups of pirates are stationed about sixty degrees apart in the opposite direction from Zaddja IV. The station is at Close Range, the planet and the pirates are at Medium range, but in opposite directions.

Vorin studies her display intently. It's a target-rich environment for the pirates. Between the more helpless ships and each other, there's plenty of things higher up their list than a small scout ship. Odds were good they could slip away and jump to some other system unmolested.

But memories rush unbidden into her head: Hiding in the desert, watching a lone man stand against dozens of slavers. She figures he's doomed, but this isn't one of the farmers and ecologists she knew. This is a Jedi with a lightsaber, one he clearly knows how to use. Her wonderment increases as she watches the battle inexorably shift in his favor, but her astonishment does not outweigh the fear that keeps her rooted to her hiding place. She could go help him, but what if a slaver gets away and some warlord gets wind of it? What if the Empire finds out? What if...

Vorin takes a deep breath to steady herself and returns to the present. She could easily stay quiet. It's not her ship, and it would be impolite to try to tell the Captain what to do when she's just using it as a lifeboat. Still, if she doesn't want to keep hiding, she needs to keep stepping forward.

"I'm not generally one to pick a fight," she says into the comm, "But if we don't do something, those pirates are going to hurt a lot of people."

Kaigen says:
Vorin:

"I'm not generally one to pick a fight," she says into the comm, "But if we don't do something, those pirates are going to hurt a lot of people."
G'Rehth ponders that. "Hmm, she has a point. What are the combat capabilities of this craft, captain?"
Oct 9, 2017 11:32 am
Mayron takes his eyes from the viewport for a moment.
"Er....." he says. His eyes rove across the controls looking for status indicators. "Forward laser....ion....something....concussion....missions, I mean missiles."
He looks at the others and sees conflict in their eyes. His own sense of self-preservation is screaming at him to flee, but the scanners showing the pirates buzzing like flies on carrion make the decision for him. He swears.
"Pick your targets!" he calls out as he throws the ship onto an intercept course. "Give people time to flee,
and someone plot a course out of here for when it gets too hot!"
Oct 9, 2017 4:22 pm
"Aye, plotting a course." Here we go..., G'Rehth thinks.
Oct 11, 2017 2:11 am
"I'm attempting to get a reading on these ships, to see if we stand a chance against them or not. Stand by," G'Rehth scans the pirates to see how cut for battle they are. Maybe these are just a rag-tag assortment of cowardly vultures....
Oct 20, 2017 9:27 am
A particularly bright explosion marks the destruction of a small courier ship and the pirates then turn their attention closer to the station.
Oct 20, 2017 1:43 pm
"Well, Paqa, you're going to get your wish," G'Rehth mutters. "Hostile ships incoming!"

OOC:
The pirate group off to the port side is led by a TL-1200 transport, a converted freighter. It’s escort is three HH-87 Starhopper fighters, a venerable but capable craft used by the Hutts, among others, for decades.

The other pirate group consists of a Corellian YZ-775 medium transport, officially a freighter but it packs a hefty punch, with a screen of two fast but lightly armoured M3-A Scyk interceptors.

The two groups are at Extreme range from each other, and the one to starboard is closing to Short.
Oct 20, 2017 9:28 pm
Mayron throws the ship around to intercept the closer group and give his companions a chance to aim at them.
OOC:
Maneuver
Punch It!
Speed:4

Action
Gain the Advantage (on one of the Interceptors)
OOC:
Edit - And another Purple in case they are going the Speed 4 already.

Rolls

Piloting (Space) [assuming Serendipity going faster than enemy]

3 Success, 2 Advantage

Total: 3 Success, 2 Advantage

Piloting (Space) [in case Interceptor Speed = 4]

1 Failure

Total: 1 Failure

Oct 23, 2017 5:41 am
OOC:
Sorry, forgot to mention their speeds!

Group 1 - Medium Range
TL-1200 Speed:3
3x HH-87 Speed:4 (minion group)

Group 2 - Short Range
YZ-775 Speed:2
2x M3-A Speed:4 (minion group)

Result of Mayron's turn; 2 Success, 2 Advantage

We'll call this a Surprise round, after everybody has had a turn we can roll Initiative for the next round.
The Serendipity explodes out of the cloud of station debris towards the second pirate group, leaving in its wake a station in its final death throes, although the central refinery section appears to be intact. Once clear, the ship turns and lines up on the two interceptors which are harassing the fleeing ships, the pilots of those fighters hadn't been expecting a threat from this direction so late on.

Are we really doing this? We're heading towards the enemy? Pick my targets? I don't even know what I'm looking at!

Ta'hida looks around desperately, hoping to see what he's supposed to be doing.

Pull yourself together, these scum are the same sort of people that killed mom and dad.

Ta'hida calms down enough and focuses on trying to survive.

Is there an owner's manual that tells me what these buttons do? Is there anything I should be doing?

Vorin breathes deeply, trying to hold on to her center. The captain is doing a good job of positioning the ship so that she has a clear shot at the interceptors, but the targeting computer is still indicating that the enemy fighters are out of weapons range. She carefully sights in on the nearest interceptor anyway, hoping that their captain isn't forced to make any sudden maneuvers before she has a chance to fire. Still, if there is anything she's good at, it's waiting.
OOC:
Maneuver: Aim at the nearest interceptor.
Action: Trade down to a second maneuver to Aim again.
Oct 27, 2017 2:51 pm
"I've got a lock on the nearest ship. Fire when ready!" G'Rehth announces.
Nov 2, 2017 8:13 pm
Ta'hida calms himself still further. I can do this, everyone else is too busy to carry me.

Closing his eyes is strangely difficult for such a simple task. Reaching out with his as yet underdeveloped sense he knows is there at the edge of his thoughts, he tries to find the button that feels right.

There!

Ta’hida presses down then opens his eyes.

Rolls

Firing that missile

1 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Advantage

Nov 3, 2017 2:26 pm
The missile goes thundering out of the tube towards the oncoming fighters, it's exhaust trail glowing brightly behind it. The nimble interceptors react by splitting up, just in time for the missile to fly right between them, exploding just far enough away that small bits of shrapnel ping off their hulls but doing no harm.

Now the pirates have noticed that you are looking for a fight. They change their heading and streak towards you.
OOC:
With the concussion missile, if you miss but get three advantages you can activate the "Guided" quality and it will swing round for another pass. Just so you are aware for next time.

The next player to perform a check against these fighters can get a Boost because they are now out of position and not covering each other properly.

Both Fighters close to Close Range (one maneuver); they want to eliminate any threat you pose! The YZ-775 and the other pirate group are continuing with their own operations and are ignoring you so far. They stay at Short and Medium Range, respectively.

The Fighters attempt to Gain the Advantage with their Action.

Edit: No no no no no. Actually, that was the end of the Surprise Round! Now we roll Initiative! You guys use Cool and the Pirates can use Vigilance (since you have surprised them).

Rolls

Fighters: Gain the Advantage

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 2 Threat

Total: 3 Success

Fighter group Vigilance check

4 Success

Total: 4 Success

Nov 5, 2017 5:40 pm
"Well, we got their attention. Can we please not miss with the next shot? Captain, maybe you should take the shot."
Nov 6, 2017 9:20 am
Mayron turns to him, eyebrows almost in his hairline.

"Fly...and shoot? But I...er..."

The afterglow of their failed attack highlights the pirate's as they begin to line up their attack runs.

"Here goes nothing."

Mayron lines up his own shot and squeezes the trigger for the forward cannons.

Rolls

Gunnery (forward cannons)

1 Success, 5 Advantage, 2 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 3 Advantage

Nov 6, 2017 10:18 am
OOC:
Since the interceptors are flying towards you, their Fore Defense rating comes into play, so I need to roll a Setback to represent that, and it gets added to your roll above.

Edit: oof, that's now a miss. But you have three Advantages to spend, I'll assume you're passing one of them over to the gunner as a Boost.
Mayron sends some red beams streaking towards the interceptors. The lasers pound against your adversaries' shields, causing them to twist and weave to avoid any more fire. As they do so, they come further into the sweet spot for the turret.
OOC:
See next post.

Rolls

Interceptor defense

1 Failure

Total: 1 Failure

Nov 6, 2017 12:27 pm
OOC:
I think my Gain the Advantage is still in effect from the first round, and the pirate's haven't gone yet this round,
so I can choose where they are hit? Is that right? If so, I'll go with their aft sections, or whichever is least shielded.
