OOC:
Kwo, did we lose you?

OOC:
Hey so it's been like a week since the last In-character post. Are we still doing this?
Aug 27, 2017 10:20 am
OOC:
I am wondering the same thing. Cazzumz, are you still there? I'll send Kwo a PM. I do need to know how many people are playing so I can scale the fights properly, but I can proceed regardless of the number.

Retcon:
Nestor lays back, his heart easier knowing that you are going after the children. You and the old man have grown close over the last few months, so leaving him behind in pain is difficult, but you both know the children need you more.

You run along the path and soon begin to hear sounds ahead that are unfamiliar in the forest...the thud of booted feet and the whimpering of children.
Aug 30, 2017 2:59 pm
Chanler begins to slow his pace down the path. "Larlow? Broland? Is that you?" He says as his hand slides down to rest on his dagger. "If you've found the children come back this way! We need to bring them home. Taela's worried."
Aug 30, 2017 11:50 pm
The sound of booted feet stop at your words, and you hear a warbling teenage voice call out, "Chanler, no, run! They'll kill..." before being suddenly silenced.
Sep 1, 2017 1:26 am
Chanler glances back towards the faint light from the torch he left near Nestor in silent prayer that Morak and the others arrive quickly, and drops his torch onto the packed earth of the footpath. Chanler draws his dagger and turns to where the voice emanated from. "Let them go! The entire town's come out to search these woods and all it'll take for me to draw them here is a yell!"

You hear some muttering and then a coarse voice replies in broken Common, "You yell, we kill tall ones. Take small tasty ones. Run away. Maybe kill you!"
Sep 2, 2017 10:41 pm
Chanler steps slowly towards the voice, until he can see the figure in the dark forest. "I said you should let them go."

Chanler steps forward through the forest, his torchlight casting dancing shadows on the trees, until it illuminates the sickly complexion of a small but heavily muscled man. He sneers at Chanler until the magic of the bard's words transforms his expression and he repeats, "We should let them go."

Secret Roll

Just behind him, Chanler can see the group of terrified children, surrounded by 5 other green men. Goblins, the bard realizes; though he has never seen them before, they are unmistakably a match for descriptions he has heard many time. The other goblins begin shouting at their ensorcelled leader, who responds by yelling and shaking his sword at them. They subside into disappointed grumbles. One asks a question pleadingly while holding a small halfling girl by the arm, but the leader cuffs him and pushes him off along the path. The other goblins seem enormously confused, but the leader gives Chanler a nod as they disappear into the gloom.

Not a moment after the goblins get out of earshot, the confident façade Chanler had barely kept together falls from his face. "Thank the gods that worked." He says relieved. He crouches down and helps the all the children to their feet. "Stay close." Chanler rises back to his feet. "We'd best get moving. I don't know how long that goblin will stay enchanted." Chanler scoops up the smallest of the group, and begins to usher the rest along the path back.
Sep 6, 2017 12:01 am
The children crowd around, and one of the teenagers takes the torch so that Chanler can more easily carry the child. Another ushers the children into a group, with the smallest in the centre, as they make their way back along the path. Before long, another torch can be seen bobbing through the trees ahead.
Sep 6, 2017 1:28 am
"Morak! Taela! I've got them! We're all fine!" Chanler calls out down the path.

You hear cries of joy and relief as the three adults run into view, the fathers grabbing up their children and hugging them desperately close. All of the children begin crying again and the careful order is shattered as they mill about.

Morak nods to you, "Well done, lad. Don't know how you did it, but well done." He peer around into the inky forest, "But we're not out of the woods yet."

Chanler gives a half smile, glad to be back with a group. "Well we'd best get out of them then, shouldn't we?" Chanler motions for the adult holding the torch to lead the pack, and follows not far behind them.
OOC:
Which three adults ran in to view? Morak and Taela I would assume are two, but there are three options for the third. (Larlow, Broland, and Nestor.)

OOC:
Morak, Larlow and Broland. Nestor is critically injured and Taela stayed behind.

Chanler takes his first steps down the path back, and turns gray-faced with realization. Chanler turns back to Morak, "Nestor. Is he ok?" Chanler blurts out, making no effort to hide this knowledge from the children.
Sep 8, 2017 9:32 am
Morak rumbles, "He's not with you?" The children begin to cry.
Sep 8, 2017 4:13 pm
"No. I left a torch near him. I thought you would- I-" Chanler pauses, trying desperately to form a plan through the worry clouding his thoughts. "I will find him!" Chanler turns heel and snatches a torch from the hand nearest him (as well as puts the child he was carrying down if they haven't ran to their father already), and sprints down the path desperately searching for the torch he had shoved in the dirt before.
