Phandalin

Aside from your gathering, there is nobody in the streets. You do notice a few people have come to their shutters or windows to peek outside.

Sister Garaele nods. "When you are ready for this task, I will tell you everything. You may find me here, tending to the shrine."

She pauses. "Unless you mean to do this now? I thought you were looking for someone."

Andafir says, "Who knows, it might help to know what help you need, in case we run across something that's relevant in the meantime. Unless it's a long story?"
Mar 27, 2020 6:25 am
Sister Garaele shrugs. "Not so much a long story, but a long journey. The person I was to seek resides near a place that's two days' travel from here."
Mar 27, 2020 8:23 am
Andafir nods. "Then please let us know their name and place and what you seek, in case it's difficult to return here quickly."
Mar 27, 2020 3:01 pm
"Her name is Agatha," says Sister Garaele. "She lives in a place a few miles outside the ruins of Conyberry. I was to bring a fanciful item to her, in exchange for the answer to a question regarding a lost item."

OOC:
Does Andafir know where Conyberry is? If not, she will ask for details.
"Thank you," Andafir says. "We will return. In the meantime I think our next stop will be the Sleeping Giant." To Rhene and Qiora: "What do you think?"

You are not familiar with the name of the town, but after inquiring about its location and being given a map, you realize that you passed through on your way to Phandalin. You had journeyed through the abandoned area along the Triboar trail, after you had crossed the Starmetal Hills.

Qiora nods. "Anyplace is as good as any," she says. "Thinking of kicking more Redbrand ass?"

Rhene seems hesitant to agree with that statement, but she adds, "If your cousin is there, I think we should go. Is he there?"

Andafir says, "That's the last place Angar was seen headed towards. Radley went directly to the manor. Perhaps we should follow Radley there, instead." Andafir gathers up her rope and gets the horses ready. "Shall we go?"
OOC:
Do I need to keep track of food/if we're hungry?

OOC:
If you're in a reasonably-civilized area, you won't need to track your supplies. Only when we find ourselves in a survival situation will that be necessary.

Which location do you choose to go? The Sleeping Giant, or the Redbrand Manor?
Mar 29, 2020 10:42 am
Andafir bids goodbye to Sister Garaele and motions to the team to head east. "Let's head toward the manor. Keep an eye out as we pass the Sleeping Giant."

OOC:
The location of the manor is labeled "Tresendar Manor" on the map.
The walk to the manor is unremarkable save for the emptiness of the streets. You pass by the Sleeping Giant and notice no activity, no movement. The manor itself is alone at the east edge of town, sitting on a low hillside amid some woods and thickets.

You notice that the manor is in ruins. Gaping holes in the collapsed roof leave little to the imagination, and the fallen brick walls litter the hilltop with rubble. The ruins of the manor make it look more like it used to be a castle than a house, but it is obviously uninhabited on the surface.

The grounds of the manor may be deserted, but you easily spot plenty of tracks through the area. The tracks lead to a stone staircase just off the empty ruin of a large kitchen, and at the bottom of the stairs is a door.

Andafir says, "Okay, you two, let's take a look around and not barge in. See anything of note, or dangerous? Be careful." She indicates to leave the horses outside the perimeter of the ruins. "Stay here," she tells Xena and Sam.

The horses are secured out of sight and away from the ruins.

You check through the rubble and do not find anything noteworthy or dangerous. It seems this area is never occupied, perhaps too exposed to the elements.

The door at the bottom of the stairs, leading presumably to a cellar, is unlocked.
Mar 30, 2020 9:42 am
Andafir looks up the staircase and examines the possible-cellar door.
Mar 30, 2020 3:37 pm
OOC:
The stairs descend into the ground from the ruins.
The door is made of wood with iron handles, hingles, and built-in locks. It looks well-used and maintained, and is not secured in any way.
Mar 31, 2020 1:58 am
Andafir looks around to see if there's a way to hide out of view if the door opens and be able to see the door. She also counts the number steps down to the door.

There is plenty of cover amidst the rubble. The stairs themselves number about a dozen, descending deep enough to imply a spacious cellar or underground level.
Mar 31, 2020 8:43 am
Andafir says, "Okay. We have no idea if there's someone near the door. Find some rocks to throw. We'll make ourselves scarce, out of the view of the doorway, but enough so we can peek out carefully outta their sight, and I'll throw a rock."

She searches around quickly for some rocks that wouldn't be seen as out of place if they fell against the door, then once she's sure that Rhene and Qiora are in position, she puts a finger to her lips to signal "Quiet." She winds up and tosses a rock down against the door before taking cover.
Mar 31, 2020 3:35 pm
The rock slams against the wooden door and falls with a clatter to the stairs. The door seems indignant at such treatment and does not open.

Some time passes, and there is no response at the door.

Andafir throws another rock at the door. She keeps an eye out behind and around them as well while she's doing this.
