For our game it says 4d6 drop the lowest, or take the standard set, 15,14,13,12,10,8 so it looks like yours might change a bit.

Jacketch: yes, 7, 15, 10, 16, 9, and 15 are your attribute scores. You can assign those in any order. I will try to take a picture of the kenku race write-up in my copy of Volo's Guide and send it your way. As a Kenku, whatever number you assign your Dexterity will be increased by 2, and your Wisdom will be increased by 1.

Here is an example how you might assign your attribute scores:

Str: 7
Dex: 16 +2 (for being Kenku) = 18
Con: 15
Int: 10
Wis: 15 +1 (for being Kenku) = 16
Cha: 9

This assignment of attributes would make for a very agile, hearty character with strong perception and intuition. They are quite physically weak, and roughly average intelligence and charisma

So this is my character Aegar Gornhill thus far. He's a Half-Elf Fighter, with a bone to pick with those who trashed his village and killed his wife and child 20 years ago (more to come on this when I fully develop his backstory). Please take a peek and let me know what you think or if theres anything I need to add/fix. Thanks!

Alrighty!

My character is going to be Iman Pyregrip, the Human Barbarian. I will be using the Human variant.
Iman was born in a small town, Veolia, just a days walk south of the Arkasian Capital where they commonly practice the art of fire magic. At the age of 5, Children begin to practice the basic fundamentals and techniques to prepare themselves to be able to cast spells going into their teens. But it was at this age when the hordes up north charged the empire and brought it to ruins.
Iman and a few other townsfolk were saved by an Arkasian patrol unit who helped fight off some of the invaders in Veolia. Together they managed to escape to safety, but everything else, along with the loved ones in the town, stayed to fight an unwinnable battle.

The family secrets in magic arts were lost, so Iman and the few others he could call brothers and sisters were trained to fight in melee combat as they grew, and were taught to hunt and gather to help with the rebuild. Years passed, and Iman grew stronger and stronger, but was never able to fight with a proper technique. He preferred brute strength and raw power, and refused to use a shield.
He wielded a Halberd and was able to control enemies at a distance, and wanted no armor equipped to ease with the weight of the polearm.

For years they tried to settle but kept being driven away by bandits. Iman seeks to help rebuild the great empire where his family was raised, but knows little about it himself. So from time to time, he ventures out on his own to train, and find others who know more about the fallen empire.

Aegar and Iman both sound awesome! Don't forget to submit the character sheet to the game. You should be able to do that here.

G3rmanicus, I really like Iman's backstory. Perhaps Iman and Aegar might form an interesting connection, as Aegar was once a knight of the old Empire.

Starrbeardo, your character sheet looks good. If you rolled for your attributes, it is common practice to roll in a forum for everyone to see. If you used the standard array, then I think you miscalculated something. You should only have gotten bonuses to Str and Con. Either way, no big deal. Barendd is awesome.

I will be using these rolls for my stats:

Rolls

4d6

(6132) = 12

4d6

(5114) = 11

4d6

(2264) = 14

4d6

(4342) = 13

4d6

(3441) = 12

4d6

(3241) = 10

11, 10, 12, 11, 11, 9 are my results. I’m as average as you can get I guess :P

Yeah, those are some pretty mediocre rolls, G3rmanicus...

Playing a character with low attributes can be fun. But hey, this is your first game and you probably didn't envision playing Joe Average. If you like, you can take the standard array instead: 15,14,13,12,10,8.

Tarrick’s limp body hanged by the wall opposite the entrance of the room. The scene caused Raishe to drop the food tray along with its contents, a broth prepared by him for his brother in the faith. A letter along with a clay cup filled with water lay on a simple wooden desk next to a well-kept bed.

"I hope you can excuse me from our evening discussions over supper brother Raishe. Since the bishop and I arrived a month ago nothing has provided me with more joy than our time together. Our conversations, the services alongside the clergy and common folk, it has all been soothing to the soul. This place, the people here, you. For the first time in my life I have felt welcomed, loved. At least, It all felt true. Perhaps, that is what the good tomes speak of.

You’ll remember our discussion last week, regarding the corruption within our ranks, especially above us. How the church contributed to the empire’s fall. How our intermingling with the powerful led us down a path where we forgot the people who most needed help, love, the truth. That conversation weighed on me. I hope that with my actions over the past few days I may help, demonstrate love, and shed light on the truth shrouded under the bishop’s shadow.

I’m sorry for not telling you until now, I wanted to, but I, I felt far too much shame. Perhaps you’d mention redemption, but I do not feel worthy of it, not even of a new life, if it were even possible. I only wish that no one else will have to go through the hell I've gone through. The humiliation I feel at failing our brothers, myself, our lord…

Enclosed are names, locations, notes, whether for judgement, reform, or a new start I leave you to decide. Perhaps doing nothing with it is the best course of action, regardless bishop Malcor must be stopped. Today he asked me to escort a young one to his room for company before his party leaves on the morn. The enclosed writings detail further, but hurry. I risk having this letter reach the wrong hands unless you’ve arrived in time for supper. The guards are taken care of. Tell whomever might help…

May the Lord give you life overflowing and light your way, in this life and the next.
- Tarrick

P.S.- May this cup serve as a worthy memento."

Raise approached Tarrick, closed his eyes, dipped fingers into the cup, wet his friend’s lips, and whispered a prayer. With tears in his eyes and intense anger welling up inside him he took the cup, drank and left. Storming through the hallways and gardens, the acolyte did not heed the greetings, calls nor fingers pointing at him from his fellow brethren. There weren’t any brothers near the westernmost tower, but neither were there guards. The hundreds of steps could not extinguish whatever was burning inside Raise, the reinforced door's handle could not either.

Upon entering the room the bishop stood, as did a young lad who excused himself, relief evident in his eyes.
"What is the meaning of th… No, please mercy!" The bishop’s indignation turned into pleading at the sight of the human acolyte. Malcor pleaded no longer as he fell out of the window. Walking out of the room fire waning, Raishe slowed down, and turned as he caught a glimpse of himself by a mirror. Silver, previously dark hair shown silver. He had been marked by above, but mark or no the monastery would no longer be home. He would be a wanted man.

-------

Raishe - Human
Alignment: Neutral Good
Ideal: There should be judgement for the corrupt, reform for the church or a new start.
Bonds: Raishe love the common folk and lower clergy.
Flaws: Wanted for murder. He does not receive the acolyte feature for help by people of his faith. Plagued by doubt, and conflicted by his crime/sin, Raishe knows not whether to turn himself in, seek the leader of his faith to turn in the proof of Melcor's corruption or seek a new life.

Yeah used PC Gen to roll as I was making a character because I found it easier to keep things straight I'll reroll here and adjust my bio as needed.

No need for rerolling. It's not like your stats are OP or anything and I mostly mentioned it so you know that's how it works for future games on GP.

Ok, I'm glad it's not OP, if I don't have to reroll that's cool, thanks for letting me know for future characters.

Ramen: If you want everyone to see your character sheet, you have to post it to the library. Some people do, but some people don't. I've done both, depending on the game. The DM can always see it once you've posted it to the game. Anyway, if you want it in the library, click on the Characters drop-down menu and then click All Characters. Click on the icon next to the character that will post it to the library.

Starrbeardo: I did the same thing in my first game. I couldn't figure out how you were supposed to roll dice, so I rolled them on my phone. It seemed odd to trust it to people's honesty.
Nov 5, 2017 2:10 am
I agree, and I'm totally down to reroll if other people want, it's not a big deal to me. I figure if the rolls change dramatically then I can just get more creative.
Nov 5, 2017 2:18 am
I also think that my character sheet as is, probably has incorrect modifiers as was mentioned earlier, my original roll values came out as:
16-str
14-dex
17-con
13-int
12-wis
11-cha

Based on the table I found in the ability modifier table in the rules, plus the racial abilities and such is how I filled out the characer sheet, was that incorrect?

Thanks for the pointers, I went ahead and added it to the library. I still have to finish picking my spells, so I'm following some of lenpelletier suggestion regarding websites, and apps that have them all conveniently compiled. Hope everything is in order.

I'm cool with your rolls. And even if I weren't, that's up to the DM, and he's made his ruling!

As a Mountain Dwarf, you add 2 to your Strength and Constitution, which brings them up to 18 Str and 19 Con. I know who I'm standing behind!
