Jacketch, good to have you! The basic rules include the classic Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, and Human races. There are other races in the players handbook and other supplemental books, but the classics are a good place to start. If you have an idea in your head, let me know. I can send you the info on a race that either matches or comes close to your idea.

Daykinator, an ex-knight sounds like a great idea! I would choose Fighter for your class and Noble for your background, although any background can work.

Starting HP depends on your class, so you have to look under the class description part of the rules. For a fighter, look on page 24 of the basic rules. It says "Hit Points at 1st Level: 10 + constitution modifier." What's your constitution modifier? This chart will tell you what constitution modifier you have for your constitution score (available in a more pretty version on the bottom of page 7 in basic rules):

1: -5
2-3: -4
4-5: -3
6-7: -2
8-9: -1
10-11: +0
12-13: +1
14-15: +2
16-17: +3
18-19: +4
20-21: +5

So, if you have a 14 for constitution, your constitution modifier would be a +2 and you would start with 12 HP.

Coincidentally my constitution was 14, thus I've got my HP figured out. Im going to do some more work on my character and develop his background a little more after I get off work tonight (I bartend at a local Longhorn Steakhouse). So I should have a better developed party member soon!

Looks like character creation is just about done, and ahead of schedule! Just a reminder to make sure you include your personality/flaws/bonds on the sheet (you can use the Notes section) for my and your easy reference.

Seems like you guys have woven together a pretty solid story for how this party formed. My preference would be to leave that as cannon in the backstory of the game, and start the game on the road. Everyone okay with this?

If so, then we will start tonight. I will describe the situation and ask each player a specific question about their character's journey cooperatively build the story of how the journey has gone so far. Then we will go to the "now," and you can start reacting to situations as they happen.

Feel free to ask questions anywhere about anything! Once the game starts, the best place to ask questions about the game is in the OOC thread.

Sounds good! Unfortunately I work tonight & we're having our 7 year anniversary party immediately after. So once I head in I wont be able to post until I get home at like 1am (eastern standard time). But I will be sure to post as soon as I can!

I'm Jabes, in my forties, from Manila, Philippines (GMT+8). Besides the time zone difference I also keep odd work hours as I am a chef running my own cake business. We like making geeky cakes. Here are just a few D&D-themed ones.

I was introduced to D&D almost 30 years ago (AD&D back then) and to this day I still play with the same group of guys, my best friends. We played 3.5E when that came out and spent 10 years on a campaign, skipped 4E, and started a 5E campaign as soon as it came out. I've been on GP since early 2015, and have enjoyed every one of Len's games that I've participated in. So I'm here have some fun and maybe help out a little.
