OOC:
As per the rule book, I acted too quickly and the failed Attack roll should actually be interpreted as a fail Perception CTN7 check to try and get Kanyil’s bearings on the situation.
Roused from her deep sleep after two long days of trecking and standing a late watch, Kanyil lumbers to her knees amidst a commotion of leaves rustling and someone giving an alarmed shout. By the light of the campfire she sees an unfamiliar and somehow inhuman face standing over her companion Ulfgar, but can’t make sense of it or any of the chaos happening around her.

Rolls

Kanyil Wake Up (CTN15): - (1d20, RA)

(2) = 2

Kanyil Attack (CTN7): - (1d20, RA)

(19) = 19

Orc Defense (CTN14): - (1d20, RA)

(14) = 14

@ Gaz: I assume you attack the orc in r13 (horned helmet, screaming, grey and black border)?

@ funfungi: You played a bit too fast. After successfully waking up, you have a free Perception check (no modifiers) to see if you catch your bearings or if you're groggy from just being woken up. If you succeed, you can act normally, if not, you are considered to have delayed your action as per p.41.

@ everyone else: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we'll be using the optional Slaying Dice and Slayer Points optional rules on p.43. So since Feridir has harmed the orc, he gains a Slayer Point. Monsters can use Slaying Dice but not Slayer Points.

OOC:
Ah gotcha! In that case, the Wake Up Roll was successful still but the second roll, which I had rolled as a failed attack, would actually be a failed attempt to get my bearings. So I will go back and edit my post accordingly, and I’ll move my character back where she was on the map. Next round I have a +2 to my initiave for delayed this round, correct?
Dec 12, 2017 5:51 pm
@ Gaz Cool. Bonuses from Slayer Points last all round, so any attacks until the beginning of your next round will be done against your increased DEF.

@ funfungi: correct.

Eldritch is up next, Wake Up at +8 and then a Perception check to see if you can act normally.

Eldritch has never been comfortable sleeping outdoors but with all the travel, his exhaustion took him and deeps of dark shadows and green skinned things plagued him.
OOC:

(Perception Mind+In right?)
Remembering his training, he grabs his staff, chanting the familiar words, ending with the shout "hutaashavaktraM!"

Rolls

Wake Up (12) - (1d20+8)

(4) + 8 = 12

Fire Beam (14) - (1d20)

(1) = 1

Defence - (1d20)

(12) = 12

OOC:
Yes. Also, since we are using the Slaying Dice optional rule, when you roll a 1 you can roll again at the same CTN. Also tell me which orc you target, if there are any obstacles between you and your target, it's a -1 penalty per such obstacles.

OOC:
The nearest one.

Roll again for the same attack or an additional one?

OOC:
For the same attack. Think of it as a "critical hit".

OOC:
Slayer dice roll

Rolls

Slayer roll (14) - (1d20)

(4) = 4

Dec 14, 2017 3:14 pm
OOC:
Nice, your Perception check please?
Dec 14, 2017 7:04 pm
OOC:
Did earlier : Wake Up (12) - (1d20+8)

( 4 ) + 8 = 12
Dec 15, 2017 12:04 am
OOC:
No, not your Wake Up check, your Perception check. As I explained earlier to funfungiguy, if you succeed at your Wake Up check, you still need to succeed at a free Perception check to see if you manage to catch your bearings and act this round.
Dec 15, 2017 7:08 pm
OOC:
My bad, I thought it was the same roll.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20)

(6) = 6

Dec 15, 2017 11:00 pm
Eldritch wakes up and immediately spots the closest orc, shooting a fire beam right to his face, the orc however is quick to bat the flames away with his free hand taking relatively small damage from Eldritch's dead-eye spell (this orc took 6 damage so Eldritch gets his Slayer Point).

Avante is up next (Wake Up and Then Perception before acting).
Dec 22, 2017 11:59 pm
To move things along, we'll assume Avante does not wake up, so we'll move right no to Grapthor. Wake Up and Perception check to see if you wake up and catch your bearing so you can act this round.

.

Rolls

Wake up - (1d20)

(1) = 1

Perception - (1d20)

(1) = 1

Warhammer (MAT 18) - (1d20)

(20) = 20

Dec 26, 2017 7:36 pm
OOC:
Unless I’m mistaken, Jabes, Grapthor succeeded in waking up and assessing the situation quickly enough that he can immediately take action right now.
Dec 26, 2017 7:43 pm
OOC:
Yeah, sorry, spotty internet cutting out before I can finish. Douvle Coup, then Fumble LOL
Dec 26, 2017 9:59 pm
Grapthor wakes up and immediately spots the nearest orc. However, as he goes to swing it, he drops his warhammer.

Next is Barekeln... Who remains alseep despite the noise...

Ulfgar is up.

Rolls

Wake Up (MND+IN+8 for combat/loud noises, total CTN: 18) - (1d20)

(20) = 20

Perception (MND+IN, CTN:10) - (1d20)

(7) = 7
