OOC:
Mostly brambles and bushes, though you do see a few pine trees sparsely dotting the plateau where you are.

I will stay at the back in the marching order

OOC:
Eldritch will hang somewhere in the middle.

OOC:
Would it be possible for Kanyil to attempt a "Hunter" check or some other survival roll to find the materials necessary and make a pine pitch torch with a nearby tree to take into the ruins with her?

OOC:
Barekeln will also volunteer for the middle seeing he's the only healer and sort of need to be close to everyone.
@ funfungiguy: Yeah sure, go ahead and roll.

Kanyil attempts to find materials to make a pine pitch torch from flora in the immediate area. Unfortunately she doesn’t find any usable pine sap to harvest in the area.
OOC:
Kanyil would prefer to be in the middle having no strong melee abilities to take the front, and questionable ranged capabilities for watching the rear, but is ultimately rather indifferent to her position within to group, so if nobody else wants those spots, she’ll shrug and fall in. As far as illumination, she has some candles, but I’m not entirely sure how much light those will provide. Does the GM know?

Looks like a the pine torch is out of the question. What else will the party do for lighting?

Eldritch and Barekeln already claimed the middle, so I guess Kanyil can hang out in the back with Feridir. This would leave Ulfgar and Grapthor up front (the corridor in front of you is 2 meters wide and can accommodate a 2-wide formation).

Kanyil falls back towards the rear with Feridir.

Sorry, I thought I messaged earlier, I figured Ulfgar would be at the front with his Warhammer ready.

The party is ready to enter the depth of the ruins, with the dwarf playing seeing eye dog to the humans, and eventually the elves when no light will enter the ruins by the looks of things...
About 9 meters from the entrance, everyone can see a door on the eastern wall. Then only the elves and dwarves will be able to see past this point, another door on the western wall this time, about 5 meters from the first one (14 meters from the entrance total), Then the entrance to what looks to be a corridor on the western wall, another 5 meters further (19 from the entrance), a larger entrance of a corridor on the eastern well this time another 4 meters further (23 from the entrance), and finally what looks like a collapsed stairwell a few meters after that...

"Let's hit this first door on the eastern while we all still have a bit of daylight to see, if you guys don't mind", Kanyil says.

"Check it for traps before we go bustin' in." Grapthor murmurs, hefting his warhammer.

"That’s a good idea Grapthor," Kanyil says and examines the door and its surrounding area for any signs of traps.

As the party make its way to the first closed door, they notice that large cracks run along the corridor. You realize it would be possible, with some effort to crawl on your belly in one of these, if you so choose.

Once having reached the door, Kanyil examines it and finds it free of traps.

OOC:
Can you elaborate on these cracks? I’m having trouble picturing in my mind what you descrcribed.
Apr 10, 2018 7:53 pm
I have candles if we need some light later.

OOC:
@ funfungiguy: There must've been some geological event here as the whole complex seems to have cracked. There are long cracks running along the walls, small enough so that a person crawling on their bellies could potentially explore them. though, whether such crack would lead to soma place interesting is up to which crack you decide to explore. In fact, you can see them on teh map, especially if you zoom in.

@ Knifes: That's better than nothing. A candle is still a 5 meters radius of illumination.

"Being as I’m no taller and less stout than they are," Kanyil says nodding at the dwarves in the party, "I can light one of my candles and try to squeeze through these cracks if we want to explore them. But first we might as well try this door."
Apr 10, 2018 10:11 pm
Kanyil opens the door which is not locked only to see a small corridor which soon disappears into darkness (she can see about up to the dotted line on the map). The dwarves and elves will be able to see further though, seeing a corridor which is in a worse shape of disrepair than the main one the party is currently in, with many similar cracks. They also notice what seems to be passageways going south some 5 and 9 meters away from the door, and what seems to be in intersecting corridor going north-south at a T-junction some 14 meters away.

"It’s up to you guys, what we do from here. Anyone with better eyes than me want to make a call?"
