Eldritch pokes the toasted rat with his staff to make sure it's dead before nodding to the newcomers, "Looks like you arrived in the nick of time. I'm Eldritch."
Jun 6, 2018 4:20 pm
Devin bends down over the fallen dwarf and offers a prayer for him before responding, "Oh yes, of course! My name is Devin and this is my companion Woodroya. We were on our way to Cendor, but we got a bit lost and wandered up here to look for a cave to shelter in for the night."
Jun 6, 2018 4:23 pm
"Yes, I am Woodroya, of the Jagged Spear. I search for honor and adventure," she says proudly, defiantly. "Keep ready. There are goblins outside."
Jun 6, 2018 5:05 pm
Feridir gathers a bit of cloth from the fallen dwarf and puts it in his bag, Seeing that Kaynil is taken care of by the healer he turns towards the new adventerures.

and with a flourish he introduces himself

Feridir is the name, Adventurer of trade, Looking to make a name and also find honor and friends

After Devin Mentions they were on the way to Cendor and got lost he turns to him

Cendor, we came from there, got hired for a job to explore some ruins, and im guessing were in them atm. Thanks again for the help with the rodents, and i might speak for myself but i wouldnt mind if you stay and help even more. We can travle back together to Cendor when were done. Since we lost one of our dwarven companions, May his spirit find honor in the afterlife. we could use the help

After Woodroya introduces herself.

Ah Honor and Adventure a fine goal to look out for, and we Saw the goblins outside, 1 of the got roasted by our wizard here, and i dont think they are going to be a problem, more worried about whats inside the temple then outside.

Does Kanyil wake up from the healing spells, or does he remain unconscious for 1d20 hrs or until shaken awake?
Jun 6, 2018 11:42 pm
OOC:
Kanyil is awake.
Barekeln will simply continue to try to heal himnself since he busted his CTN each time he tried...

Kanyil comes to, and spends the better part of a few minutes quietly sitting on the floor collecting herself, ignoring her fellow party members. Finally she stands up and angrily throws her sling against the wall, which hits the corridor’s floor with a quiet slap. In the darkness, the sound of her crowbar banging violently against the floor and rock chips clattering off each strike can be heard as she takes her frustrations out on nothing in particular.. Finally the sound of flint scraping against steel can be discerned and Kanyil re-lights her candle before picking up the useless sling and stuffing it in her pocket.

"We should continue on", she sulkily tells the the rest of the group.

alright, this should give Barekeln a few more opportunity to try and heal himself...
Barekeln manages to completely heal himself, he then turns to the onlooker, addressing them in his thick dwarven accent.

"Th' name's Barekeln. Th' lass is reit, we shoods move oan, but first, we shoods move Grapthor's body intae 'at room sae ah can gie heem th' lest rites ay Cur. 'En we can swatch intae his gear tae see whit can help us; he willnae need it whaur he's gonnae..."

Woodroya kneels before the fallen one, and leaves a small piece of her diminishing food supplies in his hand.

She then stands and twirls her spear, then tries to flick rat blood off and onto the wall.

"Are any of you injured? I have some experience with the healing arts," Devin offers to these people. If no one takes him up on the offer, he will assist in giving last rites to the dead dwarf.
OOC:
Changing which spell is prepared is a MND + IN check?

Jun 12, 2018 4:45 pm
"I’m not one hundred percent yet", Kanyil admits, moodily.
OOC:
Kanyil is at 10 of 18 Hit Points.
Jun 12, 2018 5:03 pm
Devin approaches Kanyil and places a hand on her wound, channeling his energy into her to close the wounds.
OOC:
Is there a penalty to trying to cast a spell over and over again? If not, can we just assume that (if there's enough time) everyone is fully healed between encounters?

"Thanks", Kanyil tells Devin, gaining 5 more Hit Points.
OOC:
That’s what I always figured as well. It seems like if a healer can make unlimited Healing rolls on "downtime", rolling is sort of pointless, and Healing rolls should only be relevant during combat when actions and turn order count.

I know this was supposed to be a houserule-lite game with as few homebrew as possible, but rerolling those spellchange and Healing Touch checks again and again makes me wonder if I should reintroduce my rule for taking extra time...

OOC:
In my opinion, re-rolling Spellchanging or Healing checks outside of combat shouldn’t even be necessary at all, because it’s more or less pointless. Rolling for those things is only important when the characters are in combat, because a character only has about 5seconds in-game time per turn. So if a spellcaster attempts to cast or change spells and they fail, they lose their turn to their own party’s detriment.

But out of combat, like where our party is now, we have time to recover, loot bodies, discuss plans and strategies, etc., and time isn’t pressing us. So in theory, if it takes five seconds to cast a spell, a spellcaster should get about 12 attempts per minute, and if the party is recovering and regrouping and looting and messing around for five minutes, a spellcaster would basically get sixty rolls to succeed in Healing the party back up and or whatever. Making the player roll 12 times for however many minutes we catch our breath or loot bodies or eat lunch or whatever seems pointless.

I’ve always played it that if it’s during combat, spellcaster rolls are really important because time is of the essence. Outside of combat, the spellcaster is assumed to just patch everyone up in preparation for dangers to come. For roleplaying purposes it can be assumed that the spellcaster probably botched a few rolls in the process of healing the party, but as time wasn’t pressing, they eventually succeed enough times for everyone to heal.

If there was some hidden enemy approaching or planning to attack them unawares, then the spellcaster s might not have enough time to patch everyone up, so the GM May require the player to make a limited amount f rolls according to how much time the party has before they’re attacked or in-game turn order becomes relevant again.

Just my two cents. That’s about a size accurate as you can get from the 4th Edition rulebook.

I was going to make this same post layer. Thanks for saving me the trouble!

Seeing that she's still wounded, Devin takes some extra time to make sure her wounds are all healed up.
OOC:
Taking one minute per the house rule to heal another 5 hit points
Satisfied now that she is all better, Devin turns to Woodroya, "It seems these fine folks could use some extra help. What do you think about staying and helping?"

Now, Jabes erased his character and never posted his character sheet on the character creation thread. I remember he had a warhammer, but that's about it. Whatever armor he had, we'll assume the rats shredded it when swarming him. As for the rest, we'll consider he had the basics, with the 2 healing herbs probably being what will interest the party more after the warhammer...
Barekeln will start moving Grapthor's body into the room the party found the rats in and begins laying him to rest.

"Thes mauna seem loch much ay a burial, but he has th' ben abune heem, which is mair than enaw fur onie dwarf."
Jun 13, 2018 8:54 pm
Feridir keeps an eye out to the entrance as the rest of the party heals up and as he hears kanyil outs her frustration, he waits till she is done and then aproaches her.

Feel any better?, you look like you feel better. sorry i couldnt get to you sooner, or shoot the rat before it got you, it was fooloish of me to leave you alone in that corridor. I hope you can forgive me

He bows and then sits next to her while the party heals and burries the dwarf.

Might i ask, why do you use a sling and not a bow? Bows seem a more effective weapon compared to a sling.
