Romana shoots her fire beam on a rat, which goes down in horrendous shrieks of agony as it is burnt to ashes. Romana gains a Slayer Point.

The rats will swarm out, two of them getting in the hallway and attacking the person they notice first, the person straight in front of the door: Romana. Another two rats will remain in the room, but will still attack some party members diagonally through the opened door: one on Devin and one on Kanyil.

One rat bites Romana for 7 points of damage, but the other one fumbles, jumping on Romana's quarterstaff: Romana can make un undefendable melee attack on that rat. A rat also bites Devin for 4 points of damage.

Berryn is up next and can make his way onto the map.

Rats are Tiny size, this mean you'll have a -4 penalty to your attack and spells rolls to attack them and they have a +4 bonus on their attack rolls to attack you.
If Romana (or any other ranged attacker for that matter, we don't know how the fight will progress...) wants to attack a rat adjacent to her with her targeted spells, she will take the -2 penalty for attacking an adjacent target with a ranged attack.

To avoid waisting too much time waiting for me to roll the rat's DEF after each of your attacks, you will roll the rat's DEF while attacking them (and I will roll your DEF while the rats attack you).
