OOC:
Do we still have Kanyil's candle, or did that burn out? If we do...
"We only have one candle and we don't want to be caught in the dark by the mother bear, let's all head back so we can stick together."

OOC:
Candles last for several hours IIRC.

I hope this plan works. Fighting an angry mother bear in a pitch dark tunnel with only the light of a single candle sounds very unpleasant.

you just need DV XD
Agreed.

Okay, so slight retcon, the whole group heads back to the room where they fought the rats and gather several dead rats to be used as bait for mama bear.

"Maybe these things will be good for something after all."

Taking up the dead rat corpses, Berryn leaves one by the main entrance of the tunnel, and proceeds back up the tunnel towards where the bears were. He suggests to the rest of the party to go back to the room where they found the pendant of Helia and wait there, he'll go with the candle and the last of the corpses to try and lure the bears down the tunnel, retreating back to the room with the rest of the party when the bears start moving, hopefully the bears will follow the trail of corpses, and proceed outside.

"If you here me screaming in agony assume the plan didn't work."

Woodroya claps Berryn on the shoulder. "Good luck," she adds and slips into the room, holding her spear with the butt on the floor.

I forgot to mention above, but I think once the rest of the group is settled in the room, Berryn will take the candle with him, so his retreat is not slowed down by his lack of sight.

The party waits in a room off the path of mama bear and in the dark while Berryn decides to go risk his own life (and the party's only means of illumination) into luring mama bear out.

Can Berryn roll a MND+AU roll to see how well he manages to lure the bear (and hopefully leave him mauling-free)...

This just got a lot more serious when you put it that way...
Berryn carefully tiptoes his way down the hallway, dropping a rat carcass here and there in a trail. As he approaches the point where the bear and her cubs were, he tosses the last carcass in the direction, and hightails it back to the room where the rest of the party awaits...

Rolls

MND 8 + AU 2 = CTN 10 - (1D20)

(3) = 3

Berryn makes his dead rats trail and then hurries off to the room where the rest of the party is waiting for him. After several long minutes, the party can hear the bear approaching the intersection leading to the party's hiding spot where the bear stops and grows in your general direction for several more minutes as some sort of warning to you before continuing down the trail of dead rats at a slow pace, and eventually leaving the complex altogether.

While not as fast as the party had hoped (the whole process will take about 30-45 minutes unless the party decides to interrupt it), it is still successful as it now leaves the party bear-free and mauling-free.

Netdreath is good with waiting.

Devin is happy to wait

I think Berryn needs to catch his breath anyways, so he's probably ok waiting a bit.

"I love it when a plan comes together."
Jan 26, 2019 2:21 am
Well, in that case...

Victory!
Though, you did not defeat the bear in combat, you did managed to overcome it, so you get the XP. Everyone gets 27 XP.

Nicely done!"

Devin lets out a sigh of relief, "So glad we could solve this without bloodshed."

"Spiffing job! noh let's see whats going ohn at the end of that hall? Goodness me!" Netdraeth exclaims as he streatches then heads down the hall.
