In Jorrel's anger at Eris, he swings and misses the Kobold. Edwin swiftly moves behind the kobold, stabbing his rapier through his heart. The kobold makes a high pitched, guttural scream and it falls dead.

Edwin spits on the corpse of the little bugger.

Sorry for tripping up there you lot. I'm usually not that bad on my feet, not sure what came over me. I wonder what drove these bastards to seek out our camp to begin with? he says as he bends down to see if the bleeding corpses have anything of value on them.

The only possessions these creatures seem to have is a crude looking dagger apiece.
Feb 1, 2018 4:24 pm
Edwin takes a pair of the daggers and slips them into his waistband. Always good to have a weapon that people don't immediately associate with you. he says simply.
Feb 1, 2018 8:48 pm
Jorrel still stands there, breath coming in huge gulps, while he lets the pain of his wounds engulf him. After some time he stretches his back and cracks his shoulders, before wiping the gore from his sword with one of the kobold’s cloaks. He finds a rock to sit on and peels off his armor, examining the wound underneath for a time before calling on the power of his god to knit close the wound.

He looks up as Edwin takes the daggers and grins,

"I prefer they know it was me who killed ‘em, whoever they are."

He glances at the still-catatonic May and quickly looks away, then whispers to Edwin,

"I’ve seen this before. She won’t be much more help on this mission. We should drop her at the next inn."

Hmph. Stupid lizards waking me out of my sleep. Eris mutters to himself. Edwin, good efficiency. Jorrel, less power more accuracy. And YOU, Eris turns to May You're about as useful as troll shit to a dragon! Consider your term of service ended. Everybody else, load up. Eris returns to his bedroll and begins packing.
Feb 2, 2018 8:51 pm
Edwin shakes his head at May's dressing down. How she got into the group to begin with is beyond me. Seizing up like that in the face of the enemy. Gods above only know what would have happened had it been something more dangerous than these little scalies. he thinks quietly as he starts packing his own gear up, getting ready to move out.

You certainly seem able to take a beating Jorrel. We could likely use that advantageously in the future. If you can draw their eye, I can pincushion them pretty neatly.

Jorrel grins at Edwin,

It'd be my distinct pleasure, he says, a note of grim humor in his voice, "wouldn't want yer pretty clothes gettin' torn by some nasty sword, would we."

Jorrel then squeezes Edwin's shoulder in a sign of camaraderie, the closest he will come to giving any kind of compliment.

"Not long until it's light. Ya'd better get some rest while ya still can."

No rest. We’re already up. If he needs sleep, he can do so in the cart. It shouldn’t be long until we arrive. I’m pushing the rate of the animals and we should arrive in a half day. Eris says

You push through the day. The skies are clear and the temperature is good. Your travel makes good time. The sun is where it would be in late afternoon when the mountain peaks over the plains. As you approach the mountain, you see a city built into it. You see different layers going up the mountain and presumably within. At the front of the city is a large wall and sturdy gate. As you approach, the human guards look down, see Eris, and immediately open the gates.

You enter the city. For those that have never been, it's a wonder. Rock homes and shops are everywhere. Steel, rock, and iron dominate the scenery. You see dwarves running to and fro, all of them seem to be unarmed with the exception of a few with picks and shovels. Everything seems to be mechanical, which is highly uncommon everywhere except here. You leave your cart at the stables and Eris tells you to follow him.

Eris leads you to a shop, not too far into the city. A sign on the outside reads Kashin's Inventions. Inside is like nothing you have ever seen: vials of various sizes and shapes and colors are everywhere, sometimes dripping into each other, weapons and items of all shapes and sizes hang on walls and lie in cases. There are only two people in the store, a gnome who seems to be moving from vial to vial talking to himself, and a female human behind a counter.
Feb 13, 2018 5:24 pm
How do you react to all of this?
Feb 13, 2018 10:01 pm
As they head through the city, Edwin is amazed at the sheer size of most of the things. The only real time the wonder leaves his eyes is when a sneer of disdain fills them at the sight of the dwarves.

Edwin looks at Jorrel before turning back to the two folks in the shop.

Kashin Soiltwister? he says simply, addressing the gnome.
Feb 15, 2018 3:12 pm
As you turn to look at Jorrel, it seems he has disappeared. In fact Eris led you into the shop, but now seems to be nowhere around either.

The gnome is moving about the shop quickly. Yes, yes. Kashin I am. Any orders can be placed with Heliana.
Feb 15, 2018 3:25 pm
No need for an order, I'm here to pick up. Edwin says, rolling up his sleeve to show the angry red brand on his arm.
Feb 15, 2018 3:34 pm
Pickup, order, order, pickup. Same words different meaning. the gnome says quickly, never glancing at you. Where did I place that ore... The gnome wonders off into a back room.
Feb 16, 2018 7:37 pm
The small human woman approaches you. Perhaps I can be of assistance. She says, her voice soft and high.
Feb 16, 2018 8:37 pm
Edwin sighs and faces the woman. I was ordered explicitly to talk with Kashin. The king instructed me to show him my brand and he would give me the package due for the king. There was no mention of intermediaries of any kind. Though if you can help, so be it. Edwin says, keeping his voice steady. Is the package for the king ready?
Feb 16, 2018 9:48 pm
The woman sighs. Unfortunately for the last few weeks, Kashin has been declining mentally. He's rather old, even for gnomes. He mostly gets his jobs done on time, but this one he could not. You know the ore he was babbling about? He doesn't have any, hasn't for some time. About three weeks ago or supplier stopped delivering for no reason. The only way the package is getting made, is for someone to retrieve the ore.
