Chapter 1: The First Hunt

Lotus swings her legs to and fro as she sits in the chair, easily clearing the floor. "Are they all like that?"

Trial? Oh my, the competition must be fierce! Brunhilde had hoped to breeze through this audition, but many details appear to have been overlooked and so she'd been unprepared. Ah well, it's better than being sent home. Be a professional. Best foot forward now. "Any notes for us? Was that the treatment you were looking for? Wasn't too Wagnerian?"

Brunhilde is taken aback. Less singing?! Whatever could the director mean? Why else would she have been attached to this production if not.... Oh, does he mean to sing parlando, perhaps? But I am a dramatic soprano! What a waste it would be! No, such thoughts will never do! I will rise to this challenge! I can do this! Brunhilde nods her head enthusiastically.

"Were we going to be split up?" Lotus asks.

"Okay!" says Lotus, swinging her legs again.

"Wow, are we back in character already?" Brunhilde whispers to Lotus.

Lotus slides off the chair. "If you like," she says to Brunhilde. "Oh wait, is that it?" she adds, glancing to the half-orcs.

I walk up to the human Mynok, look him up and down, and then I wait, following him wherever he takes us.

"So I get to hang out with these guys and you get to pay us? How handsomely are we going to get paid?

"You never told us the assignment other than waiting... and if waiting is the assignment, how much are we getting for that?"

Lotus leaves the haggling half-orc and walks over to Mynok. "Do we have rooms?" she asks.

"Okay!" says Lotus, claiming one of the beds.

Markus takes the bed farthest from the exit.

"So, we are now a team. I am Markus. I used to be an enforcer for the local Guild, put their pay rate was quite a steal."
