Chapter 1: The First Hunt

Brunhilde wipes at her face. The rain is making it hard to see. Even worse, it's melting her makeup! The constant pelting on her helm doesn't help either.

Krenq walks up to the hut and knocks on the door.

Lotus blindly follows Krenq, reasoning that sticking with the group is far better than wandering the storm alone. She hopes the others have the same idea.

Anyone have magical light? Lena, maybe?

Actually, no. Lena says disappointedly. Then she brightens up But I can see quite well in the dark!

"As can I." Brunhilde offers. "Shall we go together?"

"Isn't a torch good enough?" says Lotus, trying to find some cover from the rain.

Kremq uses his keen ears to listen, his honed hunting nostrils to smell.

"Are we here to get out of the rain?" Lotus asks, hand futilely covering her eyes from the downpour. "Why's everyone standing outside?"

Then it seems to dawn on her. "Oh, right. Rude to just barge in," she says, then voices loudly to the interior of the dark hut, "Hello! Anybody home?"

Lena lights a torch. Does it illuminate the room at all?

"Well, doesn't look like anybody's home," says Lotus. "We should move on."

"Inside," Lotus says, without skipping a beat. "We should move on inside." Without hesitation, she enters the darkness.

Brunhilde takes a deep breath and follows Lotus through the door.

Krenq moves with his group into the darkness, his smile widening as he contemplates this new challenge.
