Chapter 1 SNAFU - Situation Normal All Fragged Up

Breathing heavily from exerting such effort to lug himself and his gear up the rusty and slippery fore escape ladder in a mad rush to avoid the ire of the mother Troll, The Colonel took a quick moment to collect himself and look about the scene before him trying to locate a spot with decent firing lanes to the window of the diner and any approaching vectors but that also offered good concealment and cover. He also decided to find another escape route off the roof in case the fire escape was compromised by maternal trolls or other combatants.
OOC:
Thanks for explaining edge to me, much clearer now. Rolling visual perception now as described above.

OOC:
Hi all. I am a bit busy, I have a sick kid at home. Will try to get back to this within a day or so.
Feb 28, 2018 12:13 pm
OOC:
No worries, no rush and good luck with the kid.
Mar 1, 2018 11:15 pm
Frank has eyes on the restaurant. He can see the Johnson and his team. He can hear a woman's voice "If you punk kids are smokin' up there again I'll call the super!" But eventually she seems to go quiet. Tactically, he marks all the blind spots and possible ambush spots. Frank feels confident he has a good handle on this layout.
OOC:
So from here on out Frank should have narrative advantage if any ambush goes down.

The only thing that seems like it might be out of the ordinary is a motorcycle moving very quickly on the road.
The hostess seems to lose a tiny bit of her patience. "Please sir. You MUST check your weapon."

The Johnson grabs the case. He pops the fasteners and pulls out what looks like a furbie. It has large animatronic eyes and unrealistic faux fur. The eyes move back and forth then the mouth moves even though the voice sounds like it comes from a spreaker. "Pappa!" The toy says and moves mechanically.

The Johnson almost breaks down in tears. "Nemo. Oh, I am so happy you are safe."

He then rips the fur off the toy revealing the animatronic inner workings. He looks for a small switch and flips it.
Mar 2, 2018 2:21 am
Wyvern sees a matrix persona emerge from the toy. It looks to be a young boy with dark black hair. He looks like a hand drawn comic character. He seems to be looking around with curiosity. He looks over at Wyvern and says "Hello.
Mar 2, 2018 10:14 am
She waves back with raised brows, "Hi." She runs another scan to see if she can identify what he is. In the matrix, a tiny two-legged dragon flies up from her shoulder and circles around the boy playfully.

Greer crosses his arms, leans back, and sighs.

"What's the point of hiding what's in that case if you open it up right in front of us?," Greer says as he scowls. "Let me guess. There's a part two to this saga."
Mar 2, 2018 11:22 am
The Johnson's eyes seem to not be focused on Greer. But he responds by pulling a couple of cred sticks out of his pocket and throws them on the table. "Nemo was born in the womb of a host. You helped get Nemo out." His eyes seem to be watching AR.

Nemo begins to play with the dragon. He giggles playfully. He then flies up to Wyvern. "I'm Nemo, who are you? Are you nice?" Wyvern's dragon takes diagnostics and relays information indicating Nemo's persona as having an artificial nature.

The Colonel notices the motorcycle is moving very fast. Too fast for this street.
Mar 2, 2018 1:20 pm
The Colonel, in his overwatch position, noted the exchange between the Johnson and Greer. It looked tense but not in any lethal way...yet.

He suddenly noticed a motorcycle thay was moving at a pace out of the ordinary. To the layman it might just be a typical biker hoon. To The Colonel it was clear and present danger.

Switching into a higher gear, The Colonel shifted his position slightly bringing his assault rifle to bear as he acquired the target. His cybereyes worked quickly as he took in the biker and his bike.

In the same moment he quickly keyed his commlink and raised an alarm on the channel hoping Greer would hear it.

Rat Pack, Rat Pack, this is overwatch. Identified potential hostile incoming via road. Hostile is mobilised and moving quickly on our location. Target is acquired, will engage if hostile moves into AO, over....probably government spook, drones must have... his voice trailed out on the commlink as the paranoia induced mumbling continued until The Colonel released the transmission button.

Wyvern quirks a smile at the "boy" as she replies, "Most of the time, yes. Are you?"
Mar 3, 2018 1:55 am
The little boy puts his finger on his chin."I am a nice boy... But I don't like bad guys. The Dawn Guard always tried to kick me out. Do you know any bad guys?"
Mar 3, 2018 1:57 am
Frank sees a large bullheaded man riding like a bat out of hell down the road. He looks like he has bandages wrapped around his chest.
Mar 3, 2018 11:26 am
"I know more bad guys than I care to, but I don't like them either. Who are the Dawn Guard?"
Mar 3, 2018 1:30 pm
The Colonel tracks the strange bandaged figure as he came closer. He didn't recognise the hostile but he was almost certain he intended harm.

Rat Pack, Rat Pack he spoke into his comm link again Hostile is bullheaded with bandaged chest. Target is not slowing and threat is critical. Will engage imminently.

The Colonel switched on the laser sight mounted on top of his Ares Alpha and, shiftinf his finger onto the trigger, he tracked the red dot of the laser on the threat. He also uses the smartgun system to capture vidfeed of his target reticle and transmit to the team via his commlink.

He switched his assault rifle to burst fire mode and made ready to intercept the hostile.

Nemo looks down at his hands and wrings his hands nervously. "The Dawn Guard belonged to the mama host. They didn't like me explorin'." At about that time Wyvern sees a creapy persona flying forward. You recognize him as the decker from the night before. He smiles his big smile. "I told you I would see you again..." He then flies over to Frank in matrix space.
OOC:
Attacking Frank's cybereyes
His cybereyes have 9 boxes for its condition monitor. Frank resists with Device rating (3) + firewall cyebrwear is usually slaved to your comm link, and... you have a rating 7!!!! Damn son.) =10d6

The Matrix Condition Monitor is similar to other Condition
Monitors. Each device’s Matrix Condition Monitor
has 8 + (Device Rating / 2) boxes. Matrix damage
is always resisted with Device Rating + Firewall. When
a persona is hit for damage, the device it is running on
takes that damage (except technomancers, who take it
as Stun damage).
Unlike other forms of damage, there is no penalty for
having Matrix damage until your Matrix Condition Monitor
is completely filled.
OOC:
Frank's lucky fraggin' day not even 1 success. Jabberwocky can narrate how The Creapy decker failed so badly.

Wyvern hisses, "Nemo, hide! The bad guys are here." She shifts the settings on her deck and prepares to defend their Johnson and his ward.

The Colonel was focusing intently on the incoming hostile target when he noticed a sudden noise flicker across his cyber eyes. His years in spec ops and counterintelligence identified the noise not as coincidence but an incoming matrix attack. It was hard to catch the precursor and usually was really only identifiable in ocular cybernetics where a visual cue was the only telltale sign. Recognizing the warning signal he immediately shutdown his cyber eyes. He rebooted them only moments later constantly keeping an eye out for that precursor noise he had hoped he had done enough at least for now to ward off whoever this unforeseen matrix user was.

His cyber eyes rebooted, he quickly refocused on the hostile target his smartlink had continued to track despite losing visual on the target.

Rat Pack, target is in AO, situation critical and matrix attack is likely. I am engaging target, I say again, I am engaging target. Shits about to get real.

The Colonel took a moment to steady his breathing
OOC:
Damn, cyber attack! Nice!

Ok, I am guessing what I am doing is starting combat so I have included a roll for initiative below.

Frank is taking two simple actions in his turn - Take Aim (+1 to accuracy) and Fire Weapon (Ares Alpha assault rifle (Burst fire - 3 bullets) at biker)

Can I get some advice on how to go about adding up all modifiers etc to make the right rolls?.

Rolls

Inititiative for combat - (1d6+8)

(4) + 8 = 12

Mar 4, 2018 1:09 pm
OOC:
Alright everyone roll initiative.

Recoil: Ares Alpha has RC 2. To figure out your recoil penalty, start with the amount of recoil compensation you have. You get 1
free point anytime you start firing, then you add your Strength/3 (rounded up) and the recoil compensation of
any guns you are prepared to shoot. So 1+2+2=5 recoil comp -3 round burst. So no recoil penalties.

Range: The target is at long range but Frank's cyber eyes have vision magnification so they offset the range.

Smartlink: A wireless smartlink provides a dice pool bonus to all attacks with the weapon: +1 if you’re using gear with a smartlink or +2 if you’re using an augmentation for which you paid Essence. Is Frank running wirelessly?
