Chapter 1 SNAFU - Situation Normal All Fragged Up

Be sure to read and follow the guidelines for our forums.

Dec 1, 2017 2:45 am
It is a cold, cold Seattle winter evening. The rain is coming down in a hard drizzle, melting the snow that fell earlier in the morning. Your crew is barreling down 120th Ave toward Redmond in a stolen GMC van. The van is being driven remotely by a rigger named Rig. Redmond means the barrens, and the barrens is where you can disappear.

In Greer's hands is a box. It is a sealed white plastic case. Recently pilfered from a Hacksbro (TM) armored truck. The snatch and grab went well enough. The driver of the Hacksbro armored truck is unconscious but will live and the goods are in your hands... for now. Because unfortunately another runner crew was casing the same truck. But they were 30 seconds slower than you.

You were the better team. You have the case. Of course, now you have three crazy ass slotters on your tale.

One is a huge bullheaded man with an smg.

A creepy dude with a deck

And this guy...
https://i.imgur.com/UM7zKFc.jpg

Off the top of your head you haven't heard of these guys/gal before but they look creepy as frak. They are currently riding three suzuki mirages. https://i.imgur.com/IxQusWv.jpg
And they are gaining fast.

But it don't end there. There is more bad news. You just got an incoming message on comms.

OOC:
Your mission

SNAFU - Situation Normal All Fragged Up

is to evade the runners and find a new safehouse. You need to keep the case safe until 8am tomorrow.

At 8am you are supposed to be meeting the Johnson at Roberto's, a snazzy brunch joint, in Bothel. You will be paid 3,000¥ each.

Your current location.
SNAFU location

Van and rigger. When Keleth gets his character up he can take over for Rig the rigger.

I am thinking speed up play a tiny bit. So if you wish to make a perception/matrix perception/astral perception or some other skill check. Declare what you want to do AND roll at the same time. If the conditions were incorrect (minuses for noise/weather/range/background count or whatever) then we can worry about it after the fact.

Image of Greer
https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/pediaofinterest/images/c/cf/4x10_JohnGreer.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150220173057

Greer sighs as he bounces around in the van, clutching the case tightly.

"Damn. I thought this was just a simple smash and grab," he grumbles as he holds a small mirror up to the van's rear window to take a look. The reflection of the pursuers behind him waver as his hand shakes as the van swerves, and he observes the runners in detail.

[Perception Roll]

Having gotten a better look, Greer holds a hand to his temple as he mutters softly to himself while bouncing around in the van. Greer closes his eyes and collects his thoughts briefly - maybe he's met these runners before or heard rumors of them. That big bull guy definitely stands out.

Greer thinks and thinks. He remembers hearing of a rumor of The Bull. A rough and tumble type known for going into rages. In fact, The Bull was supposedly involved in last years Starbucks massacre. The Bull is deadly with his SMG as well as his hands.

Unfortunately these other two aren't known to Greer.

Wyvern's checking of the neon world of the matrix gets him spammed by a #DollarNLoanStore ad as they pass the physical store. A tornado of nuyen credits tries to sweep Wyvern into signing a loan with a clearly unethically high rate of 47 percent.

Easily cutting through the noise Wyvern sees that The Bull has his smartgun activated. He also has a cyber eye icon.

The Shark guy is black. No icons.

The decker's motorcycle is running some wireless software that seems to help guide rhe bike. However he has his deck protecting The Bull and himself running a firewall that looks like a pixely bunch of creepy kids in halloween costumes holding bloody knives.

The Shark guy revs his engine and begins catching up with the van.

Wyvern smashes past the little pixel creeps and claws into the persona of the decker. The decker seems to shimmer in place disrupting Wyvern's attempts to learn more. The slash on the decker remains. The decker's persona looks very similar to his real world meat body. The decker seems to be playing with his fingers and he is holding a butcher's cleaver. "When we get to your meat bod, I'm gonna make some sausage." He says to Wyvern. He then launches at Wyvern with his cleaver attempting to cut her up.

As the decker launches the attack his bike wavers a bit and begins to slow down.
OOC:
You have one mark on the decker. But the decker resisted the rest.

Merks eyes the situation carefully as he is rocked around the the back of the van, as he releases himself from the safety Belt, he opens the back door from within he looks up to Greer and asks: Fire or Lighting? and not waiting for the response he realizes that the lighting could overload the follower's vehicles and goes for it:

OOC: Casting ball lighting F=6
I'll make it stactic and try to time it so that i gets the 3 bikes or as many bikes as possible.

The elf is rattled and shaken by the sudden change of pace. "A chase?! What now?" he mutter to himself. He shifts his wait around his romp, giving his legs some stretch and his ass some scratch. He pops his shoulder and neck, and readies himself for what is to come.

CRACK!!!

Nail ducks and covers in his seat as a stream of crackling energy seethes out of the van. He yanks his belt and hurts his sternum but he regains composure after a while. He barks into his commlink and gestures towards the graying man "Any idea who or what those are? Keep the box down. It might not be bulletproof."

He pulls out his pack and produces a hefty amount of rope. He starts making two lines with the front seats as anchors. He coils one of them to his left leg thrice before passing both along and exasperating "Howdy folks. Please keep your hands and arms inside the vehicle and remain laid low at all times. The decker slams on the breaks, smoke burning from the rubber wheels. The decker jumps off the bike and sits on the ground. Merkx' ball of lightning aims to get The Bull, The Shark and the decker all in the same hit. But The Shark was much slower than The Bull so the lightning ball hits The Bull and his bike. Both crackle with damage waivering temporarily.

The Bull shakes his head and revs his engines. He raises his arm and sprays the van with SMG lead. Merkx, standing at the open door, takes 3 hits from the fire (-2 to dodge for burst fire. 3 net hits. If Merkx doesn't dodge he has to resist 8+3 Physical damage minus the dodge successes).

The Shark then pushes forward on his bike. He pulls up along side the van and looks into the window. He holds a heavy pistol up to the window adjacent to Greer and smashes the glass. "Give us the package!" He yells in a wind muffled voice.
OOC:

Initiative order
Wyvern 27
Nail 23
Greer 16
NPC runner team 15
Merkx 11

I think initiative is going to be a challenge in PbP. My opinion is to let Wyvern, Nail and Greer have a one more go whenever you are convenient (i.e. not necessarily in order). Then the NPCs, then Merkx. And back up again.

If you all have a better idea on how to run initiative in PbP put it forward. Shadowrun PbP is new to me.

Wyvern takes 1 box of matrix damage.

I rolled Merkx' edge to see how many motorcycles he could get in the blast. 1 success so he can get 1 motorcycle.

Merkx lightning gets 3 hits so a damage value of 6+3=9 AP -6 and he takes 3 drain, correct? the rules for electic attacks for vehicles is as follows:
page 171 core book "Vehicles can be damaged by Electricity attacks but do not suffer any secondary effects. Specific systems of vehicles
can be targeted by a Called Shots (p. 195)."

The bike takes 5 boxes of damage.
Bull takes 6 boxes of damage.

VEHICLE DAMAGE
Whenever a vehicle is hit by an attack, it resists damage
as normal, rolling Body + Armor. If the attack’s modified
DV is less than the vehicle’s modified Armor, no
damage is applied. Note that since many vehicles have
large Body dice pools, gamemasters are encouraged to
use the trade-in-dice-for-hits rule (4 dice equals 1 hit)
to simplify tests. Your average tank, for example, will
automatically get 4 hits on a Body Test through that
trade in, so there is no point in rolling unless the tank
needs more than 4 hits.

Also rolling ranged defense and damage soak, I am assuming no ap on the bulets.
Sorry new to the system.

also I didn't understand why I had to roll edge to hit multiple targets since ball lightning's radius is 6 meters and the average street is 12 meters wide, hence a 6m radius ball covering the whole street.

So given the results I take 2 stun damage from the drain (since my spellcasting had less sucesses than the spell force) and 4 damage from the bullets?

The creepy decker flies through the matrix holding his butcher knives. He pulls up next to Wyvern. "I've been following you since you first started the snatch and grab. You are faster than me." He begins slashing at Wyvern with his knives. "But I'm meaner and nastier."

He takes a moment and thinks over the underworld landscape... he remembers rumors a few years back of a guy who arranged safe passage out of Seattle, surely someone like that has boltholes all around the city? The gangs in the area definitely have place out of sight too, the question is - which is the lesser evil? Best bet, maybe one of the numerous motels or hostels will be silent if extra nguyen is paid...

The restaurant is long and thin with bright orange plastic seats. Much of the linoleum is ripped up and a musty scent mixes with the Chinese Mexican food smells.

From the back you can hear what sounds like a loud crowd excited about something.
Jan 14, 2018 1:20 pm
Wyvern stows her gear in her backpack and saunters after him.
Jan 17, 2018 10:48 am
Greer flashes a grin at Rig, "Nice driving, son." He slides out of the vehicle and follows Rig and Wyvern into the restaurant.

Motioning the rest of the crew to follow, he mouths, "Let's talk over tacos, need to figure out next steps here."
Jan 19, 2018 2:19 am
As you sit down for tacos a short but squat lady comes over chewing gum and smacking her lips. ""What you want to order? We are all out of everything but soychick tacos and nuke salsa or General Pow Pow's soyapork rice blitz." Her head turns as some yells of excitement erupt from the back. She doesn't even wait to hear your order as she runs to the back. "Did the demon rat win?!"
Jan 24, 2018 10:21 am
After sitting silently a few minutes Wyvern suggests, "Maybe we need to split up. Harder to find that way."
Jan 24, 2018 12:16 pm
Greer grimances, "I wouldn't recommend that. Find one of us, and it's dominoes from there."

Greer pauses a bit as he looks around the restaurant, and then at the white plastic case. He leans forward and lowers his voice, "We're in this together so we do this together. We hide.

"I have a contact in Chinatown. We can lay low at a cost, unless you have other options....?"

Just then the door to the back of the taco shack bursts open, and a tall gaunt ork looking like he's ready for a night at the goth club walks in. He grumbles something about about a fracking demon rat, and quickly takes a seat at the counter, he's obviously hungry and ready to order. He raps his knuckles on the counter and hollers across the restaurant... "HEY! Dollface! Can ya get me summa that General Pow Pow's?"

The waitress scoffs, and shakes her head, begrudgingly muttering "Whatever you want, your highness..."

The Ork smiles a big tusky grin, and takes a hit from a flask as a couple more sleazy patrons enter from the back. One of them stops next to the Ork and starts talking to him. "So how bout that Demon rat Hugi, hunh?" He laugh's uncontrollably and appears obviously drunk.

Huginn hands him the flask, saying "Yeah, yeah, yeah - Shut down, Deekz. How drunk you gonna get tonight anyways? Dont yak up in the Taco Shack, that'll getcha on the blacklist for sure." He playfully smacked the dwarf in the arm and snatched his flask back.

"Look Huginn... I like ya chumm - you're smart, and you always do good business, but... But word on the street..." The dwarf began to talk, but the ork didn't let him finish before running him over...

"I know Deekz, trust me I know what their sayin'... Look, those booster rats are dorphed outta their minds. Truth is, this juiced up Trog came at me in the middle of the day, and I just froze up Deekz, I was ready to meet my maker. He made it halfway across the street then that bus came outta nowhere. But if you think for one minute that I could make that kinda shit happen with my head, then why would i find myself down here in this slumpit with all you greazy gonks; when I could be off dusting boosted out bangers and petty crooks - like YOU - for enough swag to drop a stack bigger then them scrapers out there, smoothie? Truth is, this nutjob was so geeked out his gourd, and the cyberdoc prolly got his wires crossed in the first place. Whack job walked right into the Number Seven. I'm just glad that bus was on time, or maybe your good buddy wouldn't be here to get smashfaced with ya and loose all his money making dumbass bets with ya all night, eh? "

At this, the dwarf smiled - "Buddy, eh there Hugi? ...Don't know about all that - but look, you keep bringing me goods, and I'll keep buying em, baby. Your not like these other dregs round here... you always bring good stuff, so keep it up, and maybe you will be my bud - one day.... Stay in touch, Hugi!" With that, the dwarf left - and in the same moment Huginn's bowl of General Pow Pow's showed up. The orc quickly turned his attention to the steamy bowl of food, scarfing it down in a few brief moments.

He raises a finger to point at the odd couple, and says "Hey wait a seccond, I know you two... your that cyberchick... ah... what was your name... Dragon? Yeah! Dragon. And the old dude. What's up old dude, how you chums doing? Hell.." his tone hushes down a bit and he darts his eyes quickly to see who is still in the shack... "You chummer's wouldn't happen to know about any good runs coming up anytime soon, would ya? I just lost all my pocket cash on this stupid bet I made with my scumbag friend... goddamn demon rat... anyways, I'm down and out - but you two know me, I'm good for it! Just looking for a piece before my girl gets back from Rapid City. She hates it when she comes back flush and the best I can do is pluck the lint out my pockets, ya know what I mean?" The Ork looks pleadingly at the pair, hoping they can help...

Nail seems to ruminate on Wyvern's option to split the group. He pulls an arrow from his quiver and begins spinning it on the table.
He looks up at the ork. He acknowledges the ork by holding up his hand as if to say "just a minute."

"As Wyvern says it would be easier to hide if we split into smaller groups. How about some of us take the van to throw any followers off the scent of the box?" He grabs Merkz' shoulder. "And the dwarf can come with me. We'll meet you all tomorrow at the Johnson's meet up point." He then puts his hand down and heads out the door. Rig lifts his head up, "What about my tacos?! I'm fraggin' starving!" Rig then shoves Merkz. "Come on, let's go."

Whoops - I just realized that you can do character-specific portraits. I've updated Greer so he's an curmudgeonly man instead a chick.
Greer eyes Huginn as he approaches the group and tries to pull his hat lower over his face, but the ork seems to notice him anyways.

Huginn... we meet again., sighs Greer. Your luck is uncanny, as always. The good news is that we may need another body.

Greer pauses for a moment nonchalantly scans the people in the restaurant, noting that only a handful of patrons are orcs. He switches languages to the Orkish tongue of Or'Zet before continuing, "We're in the middle of a run and things got hot. Need to go underground for a while. Our other...companions have gone their separate ways. I don't have high hopes. We need some firepower, if you get my meaning? You in?"

Greer is always tapped into the underground rumormill. Some would say he may even control the flow of rumors.

There's already rumors around town that Huginn used magic to geek that Troll. I would say that having run with Huginn before,he has two reasons to suspect magic, but no hard proof. With five hits I'd want to give him more juice than that - but the best I could say he came up with is that Huginn is a known Deepweed smoker. Good to note: Huginn is an Astral Chameleon

Huginn cock's his head sideways - "That's not low-key... that's just racist. Every dreg in this bar will understand you chum, maybe you don't come down here much, but this is where I live - perhaps you need some street smarts more than you need a gun. If you wanna be discreet - Sioux is my native tongue..." He looks around the shop, nervously - "Look if you guys are trying to lay low, like I said, I live right around the corner. I should go home and gear up anyways. It's not much for amenities, but it's a secure location, and it's almost impossible to find. Lonestar doesn't even exists out there - just gotta worry about boostergangs... But look - I ain't offering outta the kindness of my heart - If I take you to my private lair, i'm gonna expect a cut."

Huginn smiles at that. "Smart move, Dragon - you won't regret it. Thing about the Barrens is, you don't wanna look like a tourist, you get what I mean? You come down here looking like Mr. Johnson with an uptown girl - you're bound to raise eyebrows." He takes a long look at Greer... "Only time suits come down here is when they're slummin' it with the geese - I'd suggest you loosen up, untuck that shirt - and give your Jacket to good 'ole Dragon over here... that way she looks like just another goose, following the ork dealer to get a fix ... get my drift?" He pauses for a second, taking a slow hard sip from his flask. "Anyways... whatever we do, we better do it soon - Chopstick King ain't exactly laying low around here... "

Greer stares at Huginn for a long while before slowly saying, "I've forgotten more than you've ever known. Don't tell me how to do my job."

He then gets up with a small bag at his side and slides into the restroom. When Greer emerges again, it's as if he's a completely different person - his suit is rumpled and spotted with various stains and his shirt is no longer the clear white it was before. There is a visable bulge under his shirt and Greer's face has morphed into the visage of somebody who has seen far too much and no longer cares. He holds himself in differently too - the near-military precision that he moved with before is now replaced with the shuffling resignation of someone who's been beaten down hundreds of times. He shambles through the room as if he's been living in the Barrens his entire life.

"Come now chummers, we have places to go," says Greer as he moves to exit the restaurant.
OOC:

@Huginn, I just want to make it clear that Greer is a proud creature, so he's a bit snappy with Huginn. As a player, I'm thoroughly enjoying the exchange, just want to make it clear!

He smirks at Greer... He always got off on bossin' round his elders.

"Follow me chummers..."

With that Huginn promptly heads for the door, and as soon as he gets outside, he pulls out a Deepweed blunt he rolled up earlier. He torches the blunt and takes a big puff, quickly saturating the area with the pungent smell of the dried flowers. He took a big deep hit, and the astral realm materialized before his eyes. "Gotta stay safe.." he thought to himself. Intoxicated on deepweed, Huginn could do the one thing any other mage on the block could do - perceive the astral realm. Without it, he would not only be blind to the presence of spirits, but he would have no way to gauge the astral signature left from his use of magic. He took another long pull off the blunt, as he waited for the others to join him.

It's not far to the safehouse, but the way is dangerous - and it's already pretty late....

As the three are making their way down the street a small figure emerges in front of you. She looks to be about 15 or 16 and she is crying. It is cold and dark but this young blond girl is wearing a slim white blouse and blue jeans. She rubs her tears away and walks quickly toward you.

"More friends of yours... ?" Huginn asked, but the tone of his voice registered his doubt. OOC:

1. It is the mist form that gives this away. The girl must be infected with a form of HMHVV. The non-medical term is vampire. However the mouth full of teeth like that seems inconsistent with vampires. Is it some variant or a whole new strain? Hmmm. With 4 hits I will say you also know that a variant strain of the virus might be of interest to certain types of people, bad people that might weaponize it and good people that might want to study it.

2. After the shots are fired no lights are turned on in the derelict buildings around you. If anything the street gets quieter.

If you don't plan to do anything more with the mist girl let's move this back to Huggin's place. Huggin can you set the scene?

Just a bit of an explanation. I am not a fan of fighting to the death every time. It seems likely that many people would want to live to fight another day. Also it makes it more fun when you run into the npc again and now you have a bone to pick.

Huginn looks down at the halfsmoked deepweed blunt in his hand, then up at Wyvern and Greer. The look on his face is one of priceless bewilderment, and if it wasn't for all the drawn weapons he'd have been convinced the whole thing was a hallucination. He quickly looked about, ensuring the mist was truly gone, then turned to the others:

"Allrightie then... whadda ya say we get the fuck on with this then..."

He led them through alleyways, back lots and into an abandoned factory. After climbing an old fire escape, squeezing through a window, walking a tightrope across an old steel I-beam sixty feet over a concrete floor - they finally descend down into the bowels of this dilapidated building until they find a large steel door with boldface print across it reading "BOMB SHELTER." Huginn ushers them through the door, and as it closes behind them a loud crunching clank echoes on and on throughout the concrete catacomb. Built over a century ago, this relic from an age long gone was the closest thing Huginn had to a home.

Huginn made a bee-line straight for his Katana - and with the sword in his grasp he felt safe for the first time all night. He looped the sword onto his belt, then scrounged up a couple cans of beer from a shopping bag in the corner. He offered the cans to the others, as he cracked one for himself and sat on the foam mat that was obviously his bed. Taking a long deep drink, he fished out the half blunt from earlier and torched it, looking up at the crew as he took a big hit. His exhaled a fragrant cloud of Caribbean deepweed and addressed them both:

"So... what's next?"

Probably got both of you suckin' at the same teet - just a lil 'focus group test ' to sort out who's who. But I doubt those booster rats will find us down here... and even if they do, I already got us rigged up a little contingency plan." At that he laughed, but his mirth fell silent as a rustling echoed from the distance of the fallout shelter. Although it was almost certainly a rodent of some sort, the sudden noise was enough to startle Huginn silent. He slammed the rest of the beer, and laid his empty right hand down on the hilt of his blade. There was a special sort of comfort he felt with his hand on that bladegrip. The echoing died off, and his hand relaxed off his weapon. He got up and sauntered off to go scrounge about in the corner, the rustling of old bags and empty cans occurred for quite some time before the Orc returned with half a fifth of whiskey. He unceremoniously cracked the twist top open, and guzzled a hearty shot of the dubious liquor. Still buzzing from the deepweed, he took a moment to assess their security from the spirit world perspective, as they continued to wait in silence...

Greer scans Huginn's bolthole with a poker face while making mental notes.

"If we stay here, we need a plan if attacked. What kind of firepower are we working with? How many entrances?" says Greer as he gingerly places the white box onto the table.

"If we get hit by another runner group like the last, we need to be prepared. We need traps or an escape plan.," murmurs Greer, deep in thought, as he assesses the room for tactical possibilities.

"Ok, team. I see a few different approaches to assaulting us. Knight Errant would typically do [things Knight Errant do here], gangers prefer brute force - straight through that door there. Worst case, if we pissed off a corp enough, we can be facing something like Red Samurai. Twenty years ago, their M.O. was...." instructs Greer, as he tries to capture all scenarios the group can be assaulted.

The good news is Greer knows things - should I roll all applicable knowledges or something like a logic/intuition roll?

Wyvern jumps onto the matrix to look for icons and tracers (I am guessing AR not cold or hot sim correct?). The matrix in this place is pretty dead.
OOC:
This is almost a static zone. Matrix from the outside world has noise level 6
Wyvern sees ghosts of signals whispering through the air. Against this dark static background the box is even darker. It seems as if the box is a black hole in the matrix. Pings sent to it diffuse into nothing. This is very unique for Wyvern. Just the box itself is pretty impressive.

Wyvern marvels at the mysterious box a moment before turning to her companions and saying, "Assuming we weren't followed, the hard part is going to be getting from here to the meet, I think."
Feb 6, 2018 3:01 pm
Greer takes another look around Huginn's apartment and then cracks into a small grin.

"Dropoff should be easy. People are looking for a team of six, but there's only three of us. Add in a little disguise and we can just walk straight in.," says Greer out loud to the group. He ruffles around in his bag and pulls out a set of unobtrusive street clothing.

"I might be a geezer, but I keep up with style. How else do you blend in?," mutters Greer to himself as he begins sizing up Wyvern and Huginn for disguises.
OOC:

There's two-ish parts to what I'm trying to do.
1) Create disguises for each person, to make them seem "generic NPC"
Greer Disguise, 5 hits
Huginn Disguise, 4 hits
Wyvern Disguise, 3 hits

If you guys want to describe what your disguised characters look like, I think that could be a lot of fun!

2) Rolling knowledge tradecraft to get an idea of what the drop may look like. Greer's been a spy/corporate infiltrator for longer than most people have been alive, he may know traps/setups that I as a player don't know.

Tradecraft: The location should be safe. This is in a good neighborhood and in front of many people. If the Johnson pulls any shenanigans there he will expose himself as much as the runners. However, on the way to the run could be problematic. Will "the predators" show up again? Was that a double cross form the Johnson or from a rival corp? You don't have enough info to go on.

Greer looks at his handiwork after stepping away from Huginn and Wyvern.

Greer himself looks like a different person. Gone is the starched shirt and well-ironed suit. Scrumpled sleeves are rolled up, displaying a line of ugly-looking tattoos (fake) up both his forearms.

"Let's wait until a few hours before meetup time to head out? Meetup area should be safe, but we need to keep eyes open during transit.," says Greer.
Feb 9, 2018 1:09 am
Hours pass by. You split watch between the 3 of you to get enough sleep to keep exhaustion at bay. The evening seems to have gone remarkably smooth considering the change of plans.

Huggin fell into a slight drunken stuper. Greer is sleeping near the case and Wyvern is playing a small game of snake on her comm.

Greer wakes up to a vibrating alarm. He raises his head and sees it isn't an alarm, it is the case. He thinks he can hear a sound coming from the case. "Get me out!"
Feb 10, 2018 8:18 am
Huginn wakes up suddenly, and snorts loudly. He looks down and see's he's wearing a a fresh synthread tracksuit, with florescent stripes and neon rainbow trim. He seems startled after his appraisal of the garments, muttering something about mixing deepweed and whiskey. Speaking of, he polished off the little splash left in the bottom of his bottle, however it fell short of scratching the itch. But then he suddenly noticed the case buzzing away, and spoke in a loud gruff grumpy tone...

"What the hell happened... we got drunk and had a fashion show? What the hell's going on with that case anyways? "

Wyvern doesn't even look up from her game as she responds, "Well, some of us got drunk. And wouldn't call any of this fashion." She gestures down at her chain-bedecked black leather outfit with distaste.
Feb 11, 2018 7:36 am
"You ever see fashion shows today? Madness. This is that, just toned down," says Greer as he looks at the team.

"We need to move now to make the rendouvous. We don't need to know what's in here,," says Greer as he knocks the box against the table a few times until it quiets down.

"Can't get too involved in an op. We're runners, not humanitarians."

"I wouldn't normally bring someone new on a run this late, but we need to get to the rendezvous.," sighs Greer as he eyes the group around him.

Greer pulls out a shabby looking commlink before he "dials" a number from memory. He murmurs the location, time, and price before making a quick sound of affirmation. Call completed, he drops the commlink and crushes it beneath his feet.

"Ok chummers. ETA 10 minutes. Grab your gear and get ready to move.," barks Greer.
OOC:
I normally would've waited for group consent, but we gotta bring in our new friend soon!

Also, one of Greer's burner commlinks is destroyed.
Feb 12, 2018 12:40 pm
"Drek", The Colonel muttered under his breath after hanging up the call that had interrupted his trawling of the local comms traffic he was listening in on.

He wasn't happy being contacted this way, it compromised him, drew him out in a way he didn't like to be drawn out. He reflected a moment, calming the rising paranoia-induced panic. Only a select few knew that number andiIf Greer had called him instead of using a dead drop, knowing the risk, it must be important. He would give him the benefit of the doubt, years of service together earnt him that.

He checked the satlog when he concluded the call and took a moment to comfort himself that his tracks were carefully disguised through cryptobouncing the signal across networks and satellites across the globe. He was 97% certain it was untraceable should anyone be looking. He didn't like the 3% remaining chance though so began an instant datawipe of the old commlink the call came through on and quickly broke it down to scrap, careful to take the RFID tag and data chip with him, he didn't fret his other commlink was quarantined from these sorts of intrusions from his past.

He gathered his belongings and made ready to exfil, as in his mind that 3% might as well have been 300%, he was compromised. He would have to find a new bolthole, but he was used to that and had stashes and caches all over the city. Before he left the musky room he was holed up in, he released a censor spray charge, allowing the chemicals to remove any biological evidence of his presence.

Emerging on the street from an alley, his possessions strapped to him in one way or another, he hung back in the shadow checking for watchers and tails before he made his move.

He knew the area and noticing a transit bus pull up near by and recalling its route, heslid underneath and nestled himself into its undercarriage and hitched his way, unknown to its occupants, to within walking distance of Greer's reported position. He checked his watch, 3 minutes and 34 seconds had passed since Greer contacted him.

"Getting sloppy, you old bastard," he scolded himself.
OOC:
I realise that the characters can't see/hear any of this, its more for a smoother intro. The Colonel is en route but I will wait and see if anyone else wants to do anything in the remaining 6 minutes and 26 seconds before he gets there.

Let me know if you want any roles for any of the above, but I thought I'd just keep it less rule bound by way of introduction,
but happy to go back if you prefer.

Knowing that The Colonel is always on time the three slightly exhausted runners go through the miniature maze that Huggin has set up to exit his "house". As they emerge into the misty Redmond's air they see a bullet pocked transit bus. The bus has sheets of steel welded onto it to cover up some of the bullet holes and the windows are deprived of any glass. The bus stops and up pops from nowhere Greer's old "friend".

Wyvern exits next. The matrix signals here aren't all that great, noise levels are pretty high and reception is spotty, but it feels as if the world is full of life again compared to Huggin's black hole.

Huggin exits last. The light drizzle obscures visibility. Making the exit all the more hard for any suspicious types to notice. He looks down at the ground and sees a bottle of "Likker" a nasty vat grown whisky with about two thumbs remaining.

The Colonel see his old companion Greer emerge from an alleyway. Greer is dressed in gawd knows what and his companions are dressed even stranger. Greer is holding a simple white case. As Greer nods his recognition the case seems to shake a bit then goes still.
OOC:
This is the last bus out of here for 30 minutes. Unless you are going to walk this is your ride.
Feb 13, 2018 2:56 am
The Colonel lowered himself quickly from the bus's chassis. Peering out from from under the bus he spotted Greer immediately and noticed a human and an ork near him who he assumed was the crew he was running with. He would meet them soon enough but first there was work to do...there was always work to do.

Quickly assessing the situation, The Colonel recognised the potential need to stall the bus he had hitched here on. Reaching up under the wheel base he attempted to dislodge a series of cables leading to the rear door in an effort to have the rear doors stay open as he tried to buy some time.

After he finished with the wires he rolled out quickly from the bus and moved casually to the wall of a nearby decrepit looking used electronic parts store. He nonchallantly lit a cigarette as he absent mindedly patted his hidden weapons to ensure they were there. He locked eyes with Greer with a quick movement of his hand ordered him to stay where he was. The Colonel wanted to get his bearings, check for tails, do his due diligence as he looked about and took in the scene.
OOC:
Ok so here goes, please bare with this noob...

Realising The Colonel has default knowledge of automotive mechanics, I still want to attempt an automotive mechanic success test to pull the correct wiring to the rear door of the bus without breaking the bus, trying to buy time. I guess the roll is: LOGIC [MENTAL] against what ever threshold you set? My attempted roll is below but I might got it wrong.

Also want to do a full blown perception test of visual and audio combined. Checking for followers, anything out of the ordinary, dangers etc.

Given his skillset am assuming a PERCEPTION + INTUITION [MENTAL] with a series of modifiers from gear including: +3 Per and +3 limit (Visual Enhancement), +2 Per and +2 Limit (Audio Enhancement)

Am I doing this right, do you need me to spell it out like this etc?

Rolls

Automotive Mechanic (Default) [Mental 4] on Bus - (3D6)

(353) = 11

Visual: Perception(5+3) + Intuition(4) [Mental 7] - Surrounding Area - (9D6+3)

(134526311) + 3 = 29

Audio: Perception(5+2) + Intuition(4) [Mental 6] - Surrounding Area - (9D6+2)

(452611462) + 2 = 33

OOC:
So Shadowrun is crazy crunchy and itsn't easy at all to understand the mechanics. Everytime I want to do something in the matrix I go back and look it up. Also in the other SR game I play a mage and I totally got the drain wrong on summoning a spirit. And I have been playing this game every week in real life for 2 years.

Just now you did many things correct. You didn't wait to roll. You just rolled as many things as you thought necessary. That is great because it keeps the game moving.

That was my preface.

The Colonel doesn't have the Automotive Mechanic skill. Automotive mechanic defaults to Logic -1 die. The Colonel has Logic 3 so he should roll 2d6.

Visual perception: The Colonel has Perception skill 5 and Intuition of 4. Cybereyes with vision enhancement rating 3. So you should have rolled 12d6.

Audio perception: The Colonel has Perception skill 5 and Intuition of 4. Earbuds with audio enhancement rating 2. So you should have rolled 11d6.

I hope you are OK with me helping out :) No need to reroll.
The bus seems to have stalled. The engine is running but it isn't moving.

The Colonel notices that in the dreary smog like this his enemies could be anywhere.. However they also will have a hard time finding him and he can blend into cover easily.

OOC:
Not at all, really appreciate the guidance and welcome being pulled up on anything I'm doing wrong

Thanks for the advice on rolls too. I realise I should have added to the dice pool rather then the result. Dur.
The Colonel, satisfied with the scan of the street gave Greer the all clear. He kept one eye on the bus hoping his handiwork would keep the bus driver busy enough to give this crew a logistics option to area of operation.

Huginn opens the large iron door to the antiquated fallout shelter, as it's deep groans reverberate endlessly throughout the concrete bunker. It was hard to recognize him, his green skin was now a rustic tan complexion. The tusks and pointed ears were gone. His hair was blonde instead of black, and short instead of long. He shaped the face to fit the clothes, and everything fit the part - except for his voice, seeming all to gruff for such a refined look.

"So you chummer's ready to blow this popsicle stand yet or what?"

Underneath his cloths, his form fitting body armor was snug against his skin. The thermal dampeners made it warmer than other suits of the same brand, but appearing as little more than a blur on thermal imaging was worth the sweat he lost for it. The Katana was a bit trickier to hide, but slung down low on his back would have to do. After the incident last night, he decided he better keep his blade by his side these days.
OOC:
I've been in one of these fallout shelters in real life - used to do a bit of urban exploring and i stumbled across one in an abandoned hydroelectric plant. That Iron door is a real thing, along with the acoustics. I think it took something like 2-3 minutes for the echo's to fade away.

Huginn looks at his Katana, and adjusted it. Obviously, in a high class neighborhood, you would want to carry a weapon where everyone can see it - so you don't look like your trying to hide anything. This seemed to make sense to Huginn, who then trotted after Wyvern, and boarded the vehicle.

The bus driver swears and gets out of the bus. He has a riot helmet, an armored vest and a shotgun. He starts poking around the bus underbelly.

Greer, a man that has been around, sees Huggin get on the bus with his long sword banging the seats as he walks past an old lady holding a chain link hand bag. This is fine for the barrens but it will definitely show him for an out of downtowner where they are going. Wyvern follows next. She seems to be practicing to be highfalutin, she pulls it off... kinda. The Colonel seems to have gotten his wires crossed again. He keeps trying to hide all his guns in his coat then looking in the mirror to see if they are hidden.

Three ork youths are in the back of the bus. They are dressed in black slacks, a white shirt and neck ties. They seem to be eyeing the new people that just got on the bus.

The bus driver kicks the side of the bus, screams and yells for a bit, then gets back on the bus. He slams the steal doors closed and starts up the engine. The bus lurches forward and is on the way.

The three orks seem to be chatting. One of them pushes his friend forward. The friend looks at the four of you and then sits down. He pulls out a pack of pamphlets and makes as if to pass them to you. The pamphlet reads The New Universal Brotherhood, Now bug free!"
Feb 15, 2018 9:37 am
Wyvern smiles and takes a pamphlet, interested to see what these starched-types are selling.
Feb 15, 2018 9:48 am
Greer nods politely as he takes a pamphlet, face painted with a fake smile.

Holding the pamphlet up as if reading it, Greer leans towards Huginn and whispers, "People will shit themselves if you carry that sword in the open. Hide it."

Greer then proceeds to scan the crowd from over the top of his pamphlet...

The Colonel jumped onto the bus at the last minute, satisfied that the whole crew had made it on board and they won't being followed. He spotted the runners toward the back of the bus with three suspicious looking orks sitting near by, one of which seemed to be accosting them.

Probably drekking corporation spies running a counter op, he thought to himself with annoyance.

Sliding a hand to his lower back he rested his palm on the concealed street line special he had nestled there as he made his way toward the back of the bus. With the other, gripping his dufflebag guardedly from all the other suspects on board.

Did that bearded dwarf woman just look at my bag?

This space is too enclosed with only two exits. Drekking death trap.

As he got closer he was taking in the scene and analysing the three orks very closely, checking for concealed carries, comms gear or anything else that stuck out.

The Ork introduces himself as Alfred, he spends about five minutes covering how the New Universal Brotherhood saved his life and how all the rumors about bug spirits was fake news. He says fake news about 15 times in the 5 minutes it takes him to give his spiel. After his memorized sharing session he seems to get cold feet and goes back to his buddies. All in all, he seems like a good kid.

Huggin and The Colonel see that most everyone is packing. But to be honest that is how it is here in the worst part of Seattle major. Suspiciously the only one not packing was Alfred. Though his two buddies had concealed pistols tucked into the back of their pants. Such amateurs copying the trids. These kids can't make up their minds to be gangers or youth groupers. They'll figure it out some day...

The bus gets you all within about 6 blocks of the Brunch joint. It is about 20 minutes to the meet. When the bus driver lets you off the rain has let up quite a bit and it is less foggy. A Knight Errant patrol car just passes you all by and seems to keep on going. Wyvern notices that it has a SIN checker scanning for SINs. In this part of town you can get arrested for running your SIN silent. But it is mostly used as a way to shake down suspicious types.
OOC:
Who is broadcasting their SIN and who is running silent?

Renton is one of the most "average" districts in Seattle - which isn't saying much. It's primarily a middle-low class residential neighborhood. Renton’s problems are less serious than those of the Redmond Barrens, but the district has definitely seen better days. -copihed from the shadowrun wiki

My feeling about the SIN check is that in this part of town there will be sensors from businesses that pick up your SIN and try to sell you stuff. Similar to Minority Report. In true AAA downtown there would be cameras that are scanning for SINless that use facial recognition software to match the face with the SIN you are broadcasting.

The Colonel kept his eyes on the orks the whole time.

Religious mumbo jumbo zealots...obviously some sorta of counterintelligence op by a rogue shadowrunning unit. Any of these fools goes for those weapons they have nestled in the back of their pants I'll drop them.

The Colonel realised he hadn't actually introduced himself to the crew and was simply relying on Greer to non-verbally signal acceptance of his presence. The time would come for such introductions. His objective was clear: protect this crew, if not for them at leas for Greer. Besides at this point he was intrigued.

Exiting the bus, with one last glare at the orks, The Colonel took in his surroundings. His stomach dropped as the first thing he fixed his cybernetic eyes on was a Knight Errant on SIN patrol.

"These goddamned UCAS spooks never give up," he said, eyes darting for any other agents that could be in tow. "Must have the satellites, always with those piece of drek satellites, always watching and scanning..."

His voice trailed of into an incoherent muttering filled with curses and laced with various odd references to satellites, spies and other Milspec that became unclear.

Despite his prattling, he was quickly at work almost on auto-pilot, moving with the grace of a practised doomsday prepper as he set up his jammer and made ready to jam the Knight Errant's scanning for SINs.
OOC:
Ok so I am going to use the Jammer (Rating 4) to attempt this, but also use the wifi setting to ensure he and the crew remain unaffected by the jammer. Because its an area jammer its potency appears to be affected by distance. It doesn't appear that there is a roll for this. IT just seems to suggest that it generates noise equal to device rating, so I am assuming if noise generated is greater than scanner the jam succeeds. I really have no idea though.

As you walk closer to the restaurant the AR spam seems to fizzle out on the edge of The Colonel's jammer's signal. As the Colonel walks past a trendy young couple they seem to be a bit disoriented as their feed gets fuzzy. However this being Bothel, just a step above the Barrens, spotty matrix connections aren't completely uncommon.

Roberto's is a hip and trendy brunch joint. Plenty of glass, concrete and plasteel. The neon sign is in bright purple. In AR the place is bedazzled with a neon light show enhancing the RL situation. It is a medium sized restaurant with an older friendly looking woman at the door. She has on bright green lipstick and a purple wig, yet she feels conservative.

She takes off her glasses and shakes them as if they seem to be not working properly. She then puts them on and flashes you all a smile. Her smile seems to drop just slightly when she gets a real world look at this ragtag group of 4 disparate people. She then adjusts her glasses once more and says, "A table for four? Do you have reservations?"
OOC:
Greer and Wyvern met the Johnson last time. He seemed to go by the name of Johnson.

For the paranoid members of the crew (isn't that all of you?) The security seems to be a bit discrete. There is a small video camera above the door. The hostess is packing a light pistol in a shoulder holster, not even concealed by her pink servers vest.
Feb 19, 2018 7:40 am
Not seeing the Knight Errant anymore, The Colonel switches off his jammer. He stands at the rear of the group looking outwards towards the street with his back to the lady and one hand nestled on the Colt pistol he has in a shoulder holster under his coat.

"Ask why we need reservations?" he says, leaning back toward Greer. "Are they expecting us? Why would they be expecting us?!"

After a moment's hesitation he adds, "Ask what the soup di jour is too."

Considering his options and wanting intel on this location, The Colonel uses his commlink to send an emcrypted message to Greer:

Target request follows: decker to hack vid cam asset abovd doorway. Intel request schematic for building. Focus back door entrances, escape routes etc.

The hostess smiles broadly as she stares blankly at space in her AR glasses. "Sometimes people make reservations so they are guaranteed a table. Some people don't like to wait. She says not impolitely bit not particularly politely. She consults her AR again. "The soup of the day is Cream of Aparagus with lime shavings." She smiles awkwardly as she waits.
OOC:
Rereading this it sounds so passive aggressive. I am reading Haruki Murakami's Dance Dance Dance. I think it is seeping into my writing...

Through the glass windows Greer and Wyvern catch a glimpse of their Johnson. He is sitting alone in a dark grey sports jacket and jeans. He is in his 30s and human. He is looking at the menu. He looks up from the menu and sees Greer and Wyvern. He smiles a large smile as his eyes dip to see the case. He waves you all in.

OOC:
Sorry guys, been without any wifi since the 16th. Back now!
Greer, after spotting the team's Johnson, glances at his watch and motions the team to take their positions. Greer then walks into the diner, nodding politely to the waitress as he passes, taking his time to slowly approach the Johnson's table while subtly looking about for signs of threat.

To the members of the team watching closely, Greer's body language during his sweep signals the presence [THINGS THAT COULD BE THREATS], where Greer subvocally confirms the number and location of each potential threat to the team.

Tilting his head in acknowledgement as he locks eyes with the Johnson, Greer approaches the table with a fake smile plastered across his face. Pulling back the chair slowly and sitting down, Greer says, "Have you tried the soup here? It's to die for."
OOC:

Perception 2 hits.

Trying to do a couple things here - Greer is going to approach the Johnson directly, the other PC's can choose to do the same or spread out and try to do things their characters would do (ie: hacking video feeds, scoping out escape routes, or spotting out potential threats...

I left my approach open deliberately so you can insert your characters in the scene as you like.

Again, sorry for my absence!

The Colonel nods as Greer gives out the orders.

Old fella's still got it, he thought to himself.

Not wanting to to cause a scene with security, The Colonel looked for a spot nearby that he could set up over watch on the diner, especially his old friend and this Johnson through the glass window. Somewhere he could get a clean headshot on the target if need be.
OOC:
Ok, so I think a simple visual perception role here would be needed to help The Colonel find a spot with clear line of sight and in range of his assault rifle. Maybe somewhere across the street, or a low rooftop with easy accessibility. It would need to have some privacy as he will be taking his assault rifle out of his duffel bag and equipping it.

The hostess drops her smile for a second as The Colonel ignores her. "Oh, you are waiting for that gentleman." She leads you to the table.
OOC:
The Colonel sees a dumpster that leads to a fire escape opposite the reatuarant. The fire escape can get him to the roof. Colonel make a Str and Bod check or acrobatics. 3 successes means he gets up by the time Greer and co sit down. 5 hits and he has time to prep his gun. No successes means he is still climbing up. Crit fail and he has to resist stun from fatigue.
The Johnson seems to have come alone. The few tables with customers seem to be engaged in either conversation or more likely checking their AR feeds.

The Johnson smiles back. As he glances at the case his smile is genuine and very eager.
"Sit down! Please." He doesn't seem to notice you have lost people and gained new ones. "First things first. Did you open the case?"
Feb 24, 2018 7:10 am
Greer slides his chair forward as he sits down while deftly tucking the package under the table, one foot resting on the case.

Upon hearing the Johnson ask whether the team looked in the case, Greer stoically answers, "No. I know the rules this game is played with."

Leaning back in his chair, Greer steeples his fingers as he stares at the Johnson's without saying anything. Just as the silence begins to get uncomfortable, Greer begins to speak softly "My team's done our end of the deal. Now you deliver your end and we pretend we've never met.

Greer pauses briefly as if considering something, and then continues, "You might be interested to know that this run had competition. There was anther runner squad gunning for that case too. I trust you would have told us if you knew. "

Greer sits back in what looks like a supremely relaxes posture as he waits on the Johnson's response.
OOC:

OOC: Greer thought this run would be a milk run, but an easy run wouldn't have a rival team and knight errant so interested. He's deliberately probing the Johnson to try and milk some more information out of it, potentially for a follow-up run or information he can sell later on.

The Colonel climbs upon the garbage dump. It smells gawd awful. It takes him a bit if time as he slips on something slick. Finally he makes it up. He jumps for the ladder and grasps the rung. It slides down with a loud clatter clatter clang. The Colonel starts his slow ascent up the ladder. As he passes about half way he hears the sound of a baby crying through a window. You see a large female troll with her curlers all askew. "Who is making such a racket they are waking baby Thor!?"
OOC:
I'll give Frank a chance to react before she sees you. Think what he will do and make a roll.

Meanwhile Greer is staring down the Johnson.

The Johnson pauses."Hmmm. Another runner team. Drek! Musta been Arnold. How'd he know I was getting Nemo out?!" He seems distraught. "Did they open the case!? Givit here!" He demands.

As he demands that of Greer and Wyvern the hostess walks over to Huggin."Excuse me, ummm, sir. That thing in your pants is not allowed on the premises. We will put it, um, in a locker for you while you, um, um, dine"
OOC:

Feb 25, 2018 7:02 am
The Colonel, cursing to himself under his breath climbed the ladder, trying to keep as quiet as possible. Unfortunately, the acoustics of the alleyway combined with the rickety old ladder seemed to be working against him with every rung.

That and the drekking troll kid screaming from the window he was now peering in.

The Colonel vainly tried to make a silly face to calm the kid down, not realizing that his shrapnel scarred grizzly face couldn't be made kid-friendly no matter how much idiotic twisting he did of it.

Hearing the kid's mother storming into the room, he recognised the situation has escalated and he needed to get outta dodge.

Combatant inbound, exfilling to rooftop, he thought to himself as he summoned his strength and made a mad dash up the ladder holding his breath and hoping that she wouldn't look up and that the rusted ladder would hold out.
OOC:
Thinking of my choices here. So she hasn't seen me yet although I am assuming she will approach the window to check?

I guess his options are to slide down the ladder or go faster up? What rolls do you want for either or?

How far down is it?

I am itching to taze her but if I am seen perhaps I should try and intimidate instead (my charisma is terrible so don't want to try a con.

Will edit this post for IC once I get an understanding of my options.

EDIT: ok decided on an unassisted climbing test using athletic (default) + strength roll to beat a mean path upward to the roof.

Breathing heavily from exerting such effort to lug himself and his gear up the rusty and slippery fore escape ladder in a mad rush to avoid the ire of the mother Troll, The Colonel took a quick moment to collect himself and look about the scene before him trying to locate a spot with decent firing lanes to the window of the diner and any approaching vectors but that also offered good concealment and cover. He also decided to find another escape route off the roof in case the fire escape was compromised by maternal trolls or other combatants.

Frank has eyes on the restaurant. He can see the Johnson and his team. He can hear a woman's voice "If you punk kids are smokin' up there again I'll call the super!" But eventually she seems to go quiet. Tactically, he marks all the blind spots and possible ambush spots. Frank feels confident he has a good handle on this layout.
OOC:
So from here on out Frank should have narrative advantage if any ambush goes down.

The only thing that seems like it might be out of the ordinary is a motorcycle moving very quickly on the road.
The hostess seems to lose a tiny bit of her patience. "Please sir. You MUST check your weapon."

The Johnson grabs the case. He pops the fasteners and pulls out what looks like a furbie. It has large animatronic eyes and unrealistic faux fur. The eyes move back and forth then the mouth moves even though the voice sounds like it comes from a spreaker. "Pappa!" The toy says and moves mechanically.

The Johnson almost breaks down in tears. "Nemo. Oh, I am so happy you are safe."

He then rips the fur off the toy revealing the animatronic inner workings. He looks for a small switch and flips it.
Mar 2, 2018 2:21 am
Wyvern sees a matrix persona emerge from the toy. It looks to be a young boy with dark black hair. He looks like a hand drawn comic character. He seems to be looking around with curiosity. He looks over at Wyvern and says "Hello.
Mar 2, 2018 10:14 am
She waves back with raised brows, "Hi." She runs another scan to see if she can identify what he is. In the matrix, a tiny two-legged dragon flies up from her shoulder and circles around the boy playfully.

Greer crosses his arms, leans back, and sighs.

"What's the point of hiding what's in that case if you open it up right in front of us?," Greer says as he scowls. "Let me guess. There's a part two to this saga."
Mar 2, 2018 11:22 am
The Johnson's eyes seem to not be focused on Greer. But he responds by pulling a couple of cred sticks out of his pocket and throws them on the table. "Nemo was born in the womb of a host. You helped get Nemo out." His eyes seem to be watching AR.

Nemo begins to play with the dragon. He giggles playfully. He then flies up to Wyvern. "I'm Nemo, who are you? Are you nice?" Wyvern's dragon takes diagnostics and relays information indicating Nemo's persona as having an artificial nature.

The Colonel notices the motorcycle is moving very fast. Too fast for this street.
Mar 2, 2018 1:20 pm
The Colonel, in his overwatch position, noted the exchange between the Johnson and Greer. It looked tense but not in any lethal way...yet.

He suddenly noticed a motorcycle thay was moving at a pace out of the ordinary. To the layman it might just be a typical biker hoon. To The Colonel it was clear and present danger.

Switching into a higher gear, The Colonel shifted his position slightly bringing his assault rifle to bear as he acquired the target. His cybereyes worked quickly as he took in the biker and his bike.

In the same moment he quickly keyed his commlink and raised an alarm on the channel hoping Greer would hear it.

Rat Pack, Rat Pack, this is overwatch. Identified potential hostile incoming via road. Hostile is mobilised and moving quickly on our location. Target is acquired, will engage if hostile moves into AO, over....probably government spook, drones must have... his voice trailed out on the commlink as the paranoia induced mumbling continued until The Colonel released the transmission button.

Rat Pack, Rat Pack he spoke into his comm link again Hostile is bullheaded with bandaged chest. Target is not slowing and threat is critical. Will engage imminently.

The Colonel switched on the laser sight mounted on top of his Ares Alpha and, shiftinf his finger onto the trigger, he tracked the red dot of the laser on the threat. He also uses the smartgun system to capture vidfeed of his target reticle and transmit to the team via his commlink.

He switched his assault rifle to burst fire mode and made ready to intercept the hostile.

Attacking Frank's cybereyes
His cybereyes have 9 boxes for its condition monitor. Frank resists with Device rating (3) + firewall cyebrwear is usually slaved to your comm link, and... you have a rating 7!!!! Damn son.) =10d6

The Matrix Condition Monitor is similar to other Condition
Monitors. Each device’s Matrix Condition Monitor
has 8 + (Device Rating / 2) boxes. Matrix damage
is always resisted with Device Rating + Firewall. When
a persona is hit for damage, the device it is running on
takes that damage (except technomancers, who take it
as Stun damage).
Unlike other forms of damage, there is no penalty for
having Matrix damage until your Matrix Condition Monitor
is completely filled.

Mar 4, 2018 12:08 pm
The Colonel was focusing intently on the incoming hostile target when he noticed a sudden noise flicker across his cyber eyes. His years in spec ops and counterintelligence identified the noise not as coincidence but an incoming matrix attack. It was hard to catch the precursor and usually was really only identifiable in ocular cybernetics where a visual cue was the only telltale sign. Recognizing the warning signal he immediately shutdown his cyber eyes. He rebooted them only moments later constantly keeping an eye out for that precursor noise he had hoped he had done enough at least for now to ward off whoever this unforeseen matrix user was.

His cyber eyes rebooted, he quickly refocused on the hostile target his smartlink had continued to track despite losing visual on the target.

Rat Pack, target is in AO, situation critical and matrix attack is likely. I am engaging target, I say again, I am engaging target. Shits about to get real.

The Colonel took a moment to steady his breathing
OOC:
Damn, cyber attack! Nice!

Ok, I am guessing what I am doing is starting combat so I have included a roll for initiative below.

Frank is taking two simple actions in his turn - Take Aim (+1 to accuracy) and Fire Weapon (Ares Alpha assault rifle (Burst fire - 3 bullets) at biker)

Can I get some advice on how to go about adding up all modifiers etc to make the right rolls?.

Rolls

Inititiative for combat - (1d6+8)

(4) + 8 = 12

Mar 4, 2018 1:09 pm
OOC:
Alright everyone roll initiative.

Recoil: Ares Alpha has RC 2. To figure out your recoil penalty, start with the amount of recoil compensation you have. You get 1
free point anytime you start firing, then you add your Strength/3 (rounded up) and the recoil compensation of
any guns you are prepared to shoot. So 1+2+2=5 recoil comp -3 round burst. So no recoil penalties.

Range: The target is at long range but Frank's cyber eyes have vision magnification so they offset the range.

Smartlink: A wireless smartlink provides a dice pool bonus to all attacks with the weapon: +1 if you’re using gear with a smartlink or +2 if you’re using an augmentation for which you paid Essence. Is Frank running wirelessly?

The Colonel, hesitates only a moment, letting his breath flow all the way out. His lungs empty, he pulls the trigger.

He sends three quick rounds downrange at the bullheaded target.

Time seems to slow as the rounds leave the chamber and travel to the target, neons lights of the adjacent building illuminate one side of Frank's grimacing face as the barrel flashes light the other. His flare compensation kicks in as he watches the target, looking for bullet hits.
OOC:
Ok so I think the attack roll is:

Agility (5) + Skill (Firearms Group (6) Automatics (2) + Assault Rifles (4)) + Modifiers.

For the modifiers I am adding the following:

RC = +1 for shockpad and then 5 for three bursts. So 6-3 = 3 so still no RC penalty?

Smartlink = +2 as its in my cyber eyes so wireless I think?

+1 to dice pool for Take Aim

So that's all a dice pool of 20d6?

So where does accuracy come into it?

...man I'm so confused...

Rolls

Ares Alpha 3-burst on bullhead - (20d6)

(41536465313462463313) = 73

Mar 5, 2018 8:40 pm
OOC:

Ok, to break down the attack roll:

PART 1: ATTRIBUTE + SKILLS
The "base" of your attack roll is AGILITY + FIREARMS, which is 5 + 6 = 11.

PART 2: SPECIALIZATIONS
You get an additional +2 from specializations, I don't believe they stack though. 11 + 2 = 13.

PART 3: ITEM BONUS/RECOIL
This is a doozy, since there's so many different ways to use to add/reduce bonuses. In this case, you have a Smartlink + Cybereyes, so you get a +2 bonus.
13 + 2 = 15

Since this is the first shot, recoil isn't factored in. Recoil increases when you take iterative shots without resetting it (moving/taking aim/any other simple action). So if you stand still and keep burst firing for 20 rounds, your recoil penalty will continue to increase. The more bullets you fire continuously, the higher the recoil bonus becomes until you "reset" it.

PART 4: ACTION BONUS
The actions you take before/while you shoot can impact your dice or the opponent's defense roll. Take aim is +1 in this case:
15 + 1 = 16

I'm not sure which version of 3 round burst you used, but it can either result in doing more damage or making the shot more difficult to dodge.

PART 5: ACCURACY
Accuracy for any weapon is the MAX number of hits possible for that weapon.

For example, if you have a gun with 5 accuracy and you roll 10 hits, only 5 of those hits will count.
If you have 5 accuracy on a gun and you only roll 3 hits, then nothing changes - you still have 3 hits.

In the end, you should be rolling 16d6 dice on the enemy.

Knowing exactly where Bullhead will be coming from, Greer takes a knee, discreetly pulls out his taser and holds it tightly against his chest as he leans against against the cold metal of the table in an attempt to hide from the Bullhead.

"There's a lone hostile coming in on bike. My team has eyes on him, just wait here and don't draw any attention," mutters Greer to the Johnson as they're hunched over behind the table.

Eyeing the hostess, Greer yells as if panicked, "Don't you hear that? Get DOWN!"
OOC:

Greer wants to blend in with the sheep in the crowd so that the Bullhead doesn't know who he's looking for. Greer is also wearing the disguise from Huginn's place - so he doesn't look the same as when he last engaged Bullhead.

Creepy Decker reaches out with his blades to and swipes at Franks cyber eyes. A red light on his comm blinks and buzzes in his ear. "Intrusive software alert. Engaging defenses.

Nemo scared but brave flies over to the AR sign of the shop, grabs it and tries to throw it at the Creepy Decker. The Creepy Decker easily jumps out of the way. "There's still time for you little thing. You are the prize."

The Lion sees Nemo attacking and yells out in a growl "NO! Nemo. This is not your fight. Listen to the woman. Find a place to hide. He then belts out a sonic roar. The roar blows a gust of pixels from the decker's persona revealing an empty core inside. However the decker just smiles.
OOC:

Time seems to slow as the hostess pulls her pistol to aim at the Johnson. As the hostess hoists up her pistol to lock onto the Johnson, she grins as she is expecting no resistance. Putting pressure on the trigger on her firearm, a cup full of soycaf seems to materialize seemingly out of nowhere from the edge the hostess' vision and splatters all over her face. She misses her shot.

Face painted with surprise, the hostess glances takes a quick look and her eyes lock with Greer, who has a sly grin on his face. As she looks closer, the hostess realizes that Greer has a weapon in his hands and it's pointed right at her.

Greer fires.
OOC:

Narratively, the hostess missed because Greer threw a cup at her.

On his turn, he takes aim and fires his taser (9S(e) - 5dmg)

I'm going to post-edge this roll too. (2 of 3 Edge remaining)

TOTAL HITS, 6. Only 5 are counted due to accuracy on the taser.

Would this count as a surprise attack if the hostess wasn't expecting an attack from Greer? If so, she doesn't get to roll her dodge! :D

He sustained 3 damage. But the eyes can take 9 boxes total. There are no wound penalties for cyberware. So until they are completely bricked they work. But they will need to be repaired sometime if you want to "recover" the damage.

The Colonel shakes his head as though trying to shoo a fly away, his cyber eyes buzzing with feedback from the cyber attack.

Overwatch here, he said into his comm link, I can't do much overwatch without my eyes. I need that decker hostile off me, now!

Finishing his transmission, The Colonel took a moment to settle his aim on the bullheaded target barreling down on the team's position. Satisfied he had the target in his sights, his fired another three round burst at the target hoping to down him or at least critically wound him before he reached their position.

He had considered firing a grenade into the restaurant to take out the identified hostile hostess but he was confident his old pal Greer could bring her down.
OOC:
Ah ok, thought there might be a debuff of some sort. So The Colonel uses Take Aim and then Fire Weapon as two simple actions for his turn. I think Take Aim resettle the weapon so the burst fire roll modifiers should be the same.

As the sound of a shot from outside the cafe echos off the city buildings the hostess lifts her head with a grimace. One eye is twitching. The hostess says, "Bleed out you bastard."
OOC:
I realized why the hostess completely missed he last shot. I rolled d4s not d6s! Not sure how I made that mistake but such is my brain. It was better for the story anyways! But I decided to NOT give her penalties to he shot as compensation.
The Lion avatar ceases its roaring as it flickers violently. It seems to look around in a daze. Creepy Decker takes one last splice at Frank's Cyber Eyes. Reaching out and slicing the wireless connections with extreme joy.

Immediately after firing the shot, the Colonel felt the presence of the decker again.

"Son of a Drek!" he snarled in frustration at not being able to engage a hostile target.

However, in a moment of pure serendipity a middle aged Eugene Snow, from apartment 4E in the room directly below the Colonel, had finally gotten access to "VR Chicks XXX". He had been trying to get back door access to for so long...but the VR experience wasn't what he was hoping it would be.

Eugene was a lonely man and spent much of the day, when he wasn't working janitorial duties at the local burger joint, hooked into VR through an elaborate jury rigged and illegal set up he had twisted and plugged together himself form various components he had collected....all for the sole purpose of questionable gentlemen's entertainment. Little did Eugene know, "VR Chicks XXX" wasn't the holy grail of gratuitous satisfaction he had been led to believe. Instead it was a scamming op run by a group of ill-intentioned anarachist deckers from downtown Seattle and Eugene had walked right into their trap.

Rather than be shown to a VR room of tantalising delights, Eugene was shown to a VR room of digital advertisements all promising to elongate and prolong all manner of things. Lost in the cloud of overwhelming spam Eugene didn't see the matrix forms of the deckers pass through the door the other way, into his VR device. Now they had access to an illegally powerful and blackmarket VR machine they intended to use to hack one corporation or another. But Eugene himself was a crafty if not creepy sod and had built in countermeasures to anyone who would threaten his beloved love machine. This countermeasure was unkind to both parties. For the anarchist deckers biofeedback zapped their bodies at the other end of town leaving one with neural dysfunction, promptly soiling himself. Eugene hadn't banked on the countermeasures also 'locking the door' he had used to enter this room of sensuous spam. In a stomach dropping moment he realized his error as the exit disappeared. Looking about himself Eugene realized he was going to be stuck in this room for a very long time.

The saving grace for the Colonel came at the exact moment the Creepy Decker attempted to brick his cyber eyes as a wave of matrix code seeped from the VR machine as the countermeasures kicked in. At the precise moment this feedback acted as an unlikely shield for Frank before it dissipated.

The Colonel, not realizing this of course, simply put it down to good luck and set about taking down those hostiles he could see.
OOC:
That was an insane roll I agree, I would like to use 1 edge to remove limits. I think the accuracy of 7 would apply as he is operating wirelessly.

Bull is swerving back and forth trying to avoid the next sniper bullet. His lips move as if to say into a comm "Take Out That Sniper!" Unfortunately he seems to have an unreliable partner and takes another hit. This time the bullet slams into his chest. The Bull slumps over onto the handle bars of the bike causing it to veer to the side. It hits the curb and flips over slamming into the side of an abandoned building.

"Well, fraggety frag!" The Creepy Decker yells. He twitches his fingers and a plasma shield sloughs off the noise from apartment 4E.

Creepy Decker, reeling from the unexpected defenses of the sniper snaps his head and looks over just in time to see the matrix signatures of the Bull go offline.

Nemo flies over to Lion/Johnson and speaks to him in whispers. He seems concerned but the Lion yells at Nemo "Hide Nemo!" The Lion then jumps at the Creepy Decker and attacks with bloody claws. The Lion's bite tries to get through the plasma shield but seems unable to break the defense.

Wyvern's attack cascades ineffectually as the shield holds strong. The Creepy Decker smiles and laughs at Wyvern's petty attempt at attack."Hahahahha!"

The hostess "tries" to dodge the taser shot but instead moves into just the right angle so the dart hits her upper lip. The electricity pulses through her and her lip splits and explodes in a spray of red. She falls face first on the ground hitting a chair with her head on the way down.
OOC:

The Colonel, takes a long look at the crumpled form of the bullheaded biker and notes he isn't moving.

Rat Pack, this is Overwatch, he says keying the comm link. Incoming bullheaded hostile is down, no signs of life. Threat appears neutralised. Overwatch position is compromised, relocating to restaurant. We need an exfil mission for The Johnson. I count one bogey still active from matrix activity. Can we get a lock on his meat body so I can locate and destroy?

As he heads down he sees that the Troll mother has closed the windows of the apartment with opaque plasteel shutters. Seems this neighborhood has had its fair share of shootings. When he lands he hits his bad knee. That is going to hurt in later.

Nemo seems to make himself very small and disappear. If Wyvern wants to find Nemo she needs to take an action to do a matrix perception check.

The Lion limping but courageous slams against the shield. However, he is unable to break through. "Arnold! You bastard. I won't let you have Nemo!"

The Creepy Decker slices at the Lion through the shield. "I don't think you are going to have a choice..." CP says to the Lion. The Lion unable to move quickly takes a large blade to the throat. The Lion derezzes and disappears.

Greer then scoops up the Johnson along with the box and pulls everyone deeper into the recesses of the restaurant. As he drags the limp body of the Johnson with the case clacking along his thigh, Greer makes a sharp turn into the kitchen where he spies a huge walk-in freezer.

The kitchen staff, having cleared out long ago, left the kitchen a place full of delectable delights. As he scurries by a tower of delicious looking soy-cupcakes, a blood-smeared hand reaches out to grab a particularly tasty looking blue cupcake. The man on the ground throws the keys at Frank. "Take it!!!!" He yells and runs down the alleyway. As Frank catches the keys he glances down at the gore that was once the Bull's head. The fragger should have wore a helmet. The bike looks beat up but the engine is still running.

Wyvern teases out the matrix code that reveals the connection between the Creepy Decker's virtual and meat bod. It is a thin line, practically invisible, of green zeros and ones that flickers as she touches it. It leads to a small Stuffer Shack two blocks South. It looks like it must be somewhere in the back of the Shack.

The Creepy Decker takes his eyes off of Nemo long enough to see Wyvern not attacking him. He looks down at the marks and tries to scrape one of them off.

Rat Pack Grey Leader, The Colonel said into his comm link, stubbornly insisting on using code names over airwaves. Bullhead is confirmed KIA, I have vehicle here for extraction. Route to exfil vehicle looks clear. I will move to your location and provide escort. Listen for 3 fast knocks for signal on the door. Once our decker reports on the enemy deckers location I will move to intercept. Prep VIP fpr moving.

With that, The Colonel quickly knelt and searched the bulls body looking for any identifying material and taking any firearms.

Finishing his search he raises his weapon and moves into the restaurant sweeping for hostiles. He notices the dead hostess and checks her vital signs as well as searches her body.

Finally The Colonel gets tp the freezer door, noticing a trail of bluish cupcake crumbs.

He knocks three times and stands with weapon on the entrance to the kitchen for any potential hostiles entering.
Mar 22, 2018 9:28 am
Wyvern sniggers as the decker tries to scrape off her mark, now etched deeply into his side.

She sends a message to the team:
He's in a Stuffer Shack a few blocks from here, probably back room. I'll keep him distracted until you can get there. Try not to kill him, and do NOT wreck his deck. We need answers.

She sends the exact location with her message via a map, then launches into another attack.

The Creepy Decker takes the full brunt of Wyvern's deadly digital claws. Glowing red pixels spray out into the matrix. They make a tinkling sound as the hit Wyvern's face covering her in digital gore. The Creepy Decker looses his smile. He whips away at maximum speed back toward his meat body.
Mar 26, 2018 3:56 pm
Greer emerges from the freezer with the Johnson and case in tow.

"Let's get out of here, go go go!," yells Greer as he stumbles into Frank's freshly commandeered vehicle.

Wyvern returns to her own body and leaves AR. She picks up her deck and runs to the front door, leaping into the backseat of their car and calling out, "I'm in, go!"

The three of you pile into the Ford Americar with Johnson in tow. You head down the street. Wyvern pings her agent and it seems that so far they are in the clear. It is 11.00 before you get back to the Barrens and away from any chance Errant could follow you.

Wyvern gets a message on her comm "We are still on for later this evening right? I know you get busy and forget important things like meeting your brother."

Greer fires, but it's likely that the target is further away. Range increments for taser are 5/10/15/20, where anything past 5 meters takes a -1 penalty. Maximum range is 20 meters, or a little over 60ft.

OOC:

If Greer wants to shoot at Creepy make a Reaction + Edge Test vs 4 successes. If you don't make it the SMG DV value is 6.

Wyvern is halfway around the Shack right now.

You are both up in initiative.

From the pdf page 179-180
Any character who is in the suppressed area (but not behind cover or prone), or who moves into or out of the area before the end of the suppressive fire, risks catching some flying lead. That character must make a Reaction + Edge Test (+ any dice they may get as a result of choosing to use Full Defense) with a threshold equal to the hits scored by the suppressing attacker. Note that in the
test, you use your full Edge rating, regardless of whether you have spent points during the session (though you do not, of course, use burned Edge points). If the test fails, the character is hit, suffering damage equal to the weapon’s base Damage Value modified by any special ammunition being fired.

"No, I don't think so." Creepy looks somewhat handsome in real life. He is young in his late 20s. Close cropped blonde hair. "You see, I sent out a signal to my corp. A small subsidiary of Aztecnology. They will be sending a retrieval team shortly."

The Colonel lifts up his rifle and aims at Creepy's head. He belts out loudly"I say we frag this guy here and now. Let the Azzie's retrieval team clean up his corpse."

2. Knowledge: Corporate Protocol/b] and [b]Knowledge: Security Protocol - To get an estimate of what kind of extraction/response team Aztechnology will respond with and their ETA. ie: if Greer knows the approximate status of this decker, he can guesstimate how important Aztechnology considers him.

3. Going back to that earlier Knowledge: Corporate Rumor roll - Greer is probably confident that he can sell the information this guy knows or this person to another corp. Especially since this decker probably operates "off-the-books."

Since Greer is basically a knowledgemancer - I'm using his history of corporate espionage, sabotage, and spycraft to try and create as credible of an intimidation roll as possible.

Greer takes a second to take look Creepy up and down, evaluating the decker.

"Here's what I think. You're a low level, off-the-books Aztechnology asset. You're obviously not important or else Azzie would have spent the nguyen to make you look less like plastic doughface.

This was probably one of your first assignments, a simple asset retrieval. However, if you look very closely around you, it's clear you botched up your milk run in spectacular fashion.

That Azzie retrieval team that you're relying on is really just a cleanup team with one objective: no witnesses. They're going to put a bullet in you and stage the scene to look like a barrens turf war gone wrong."

Greer looks Creepy right in the eyes and says, "You're stuck at a crossroads now - either you turn off that signal and come with us, or I have my friend here put a bullet in you. "

Greer motions at the car's open door.

"AI Awakening?," sighs Greer as he shakes his head. This may be getting above his head...

The Colonel wraps a cloth around his head and takes the wheel. He drives well enough for someone that was just shot in the head. He drives for about 25 minutes when he pulls up to a small apartment building. He throws a set of keys to Wyvern. "Apartment 4B. Unlock only the top and bottom most key. If you try to unlock the middle lock, well... Boom." He mimics an explosion with his hands. "This place is paid for the month but once you are done I will send in a cleaner to make sure no DNA gets left behind. But anyway you should be able to use it for however long you need it to crack the deck and comm." He picks up a pistol and points it at Creepy/Arnold. "Anything in the deck that my comrade here should know about."

Creepy smiles. He slowly reaches over to the deck and thumbprints it on. "There. Now it is safe." He then winks at Wyvern. "That deck is worth something to me. If you are looking to sell it i will pay the ransom." He then leans back and closes his eyes. "I so want to cut you all to fraggin' pieces right now..."
OOC:
Sure Greer can have a stim patch. He is a seasoned veteran. He would remember it.

Apr 24, 2018 7:12 pm
OOC:

End of the day, Greer is a runner and he's been in the game for a long time. He's not one to leave loose ends...

Greer discreetly signals the Colonel to drive towards the Barrens in a nondirect route.

Greer then checks on the Johnson, making sure that his condition is stable and that he won't be waking up anytime soon.

Turning back to Creepy, Greer says, "Ok. Your old friend needs some medical help. I have a doc who does work and doesn't ask questions, we're paying him a visit.

We'll part ways there.

In the meantime, tell me more about Nemo and this 'AI awakening.' Why are people dying over this?
OOC:

In reality, Greer doesn't know a backalley doc and he's having the colonel drive to the barrens so he can off Creepy.

He's just pumping Creepy for information so he can have leverage on the Johnson later. When Greer was checking on the Johnson's condition, he's making sure that he is unconscious and will remain so for a while.

When the car pulls up into the barrens (which is not an unusual place for a back-alley doc to live) in an area with no cameras, Greer will motion Creepy to get out first. Then Greer will off him and drive away.

The goal is for all of this to take place in no more than 30 minutes.

The drive through the barrens is uneventful. Frank is paranoid and drives like it. If someone follows him he makes erratic turns, if he sees people up ahead he will pull over, observe the "hostiles", then find a new route. The Johnson seems out of it. He lost a lot of blood. Greer's assessment is he really does need a doc soon. His patchwork job is holding but he isn't sure it will be for much longer.

Creepy seems annoyed. "Talking to you all about A.I.s is like talking to babies about calculus."" Creepy attempts to open his door but the door is locked. Frank covers all bases. "A.I.s can do things your decker can't imagine. Even idiots like you know that. Just look at the arcology. That was a mess. And many many people like messes. The more chaos the better. Chaos is good for business. Have you ever seen the classic scifi flat film The Fifth Element?"

Frank takes an unanticipated right turn. Everyone sways from the force.

Pulling himself back up Creepy looks at your blank faces. "Of course not. No respect for the old films I am sure. Just watch whatever's on the trid..."

Just then Frank pulls into an abandoned school yard. He yanks Creepy out by the collar and throws him on the ground and drags him over to a cracked and broken slide. He pulls out his gun and shoots Creepy in the face before he can even say another word. The gore splatters on the slide and rolls down it slowly.

Frank gets back into the car and says to Greer. "Been good working with you again G. Give me my cut and I'll drop you off at a great Chinese Taco shop I know. Oh, and the Johnson don't look to good. I'll take him to a shop I know. I'll notify you when he is out."

Since I haven't really added contact info, can I add Frank as one of my contacts since he's an NPC now?
Greer nods, and hands over Frank's share of the run in a credchip.

-- SMASH CUT --
As Frank pulls the Johnson's car to the Chinese Taco shop, Greer says,"It's been a pleasure, as always." as he hands the credstick to Frank.

As Frank pulls away, Greer rings up the remaining members of the team (if they're around) and settles any remaining balances with them. He then drops his old commlink, crushes it under the heel of his boot, and tosses it into a couple different trashcans.

Greer has a meeting later tonight and he plans on bringing pastries.
OOC:

Greer started with two burner commlinks and he's destroyed both of them. Along the way, he's going to pick up two more commlinks for 100 nguyen each.

That leaves him with $790.

Not sure how much the other PC's have.

I had a lot of fun with that chapter! It was so unexpected. Definitely keep Frank as a contact. He is a great character.

I might advertise in the Gamers Tavern for a few new players. I think Shadowrun works well with people coming and going. In fact it is almost like we have guest NPCs!! And all the different players bring very different voices to the characters. Jabberwocky did military so much better than I ever could.

Oh and I realize I already posted the nuyen rewards in the Karma N Nuyen thread

Assuming you all share the nuyen from the cred sticks each of you get 5,000 each.

Besides that you now have a Ford Americar (probably GPS tracked). Not sure who will drive it. Will you keep it or dump it?

Greer has keys to the Johnson's car and the Johnson's ID card. His real name is Barnaby Snipes. He works for a SaederKrupp subsidiary called The Mimir Research Institute as a senior matrix researcher. He also has a deck. It seems to be of his own making. Wyvern would need to do some investigation to find out more about the deck.

Frank has 2 SMGs with 4 clips of explosive rounds.

Wyvern logs onto the deck and links to the comm. There are a few shared file folders. One is full of pictures. Scary, creepy pictures. This guy did some bad things to people.

You scan his MySpace account and see that he has only a handful of friends. They seem to be part of a hacker collective called The Sleven. The handles of each hacker are, Zero1, Blackjack, FreddieMurcurial, Faux Rabbit, and HappyBot. Most of their conversations are about meeting up in a matrix bar called The Harbor.

Finally you find a folder that is encrypted and password protected. The folder is called Project Slumberland. You want to dig deeper but your alarm pings and it is time to meet up with your brother.

I expect you would also like to look at his deck softs? I'll say you didn't have time but can look into it later

"Remind me never to bring a date there," Wyvern mutters to herself as she reads the files. She shuts down the deck before heading out, and tucks it into her backpack at the bottom, together with the comm. She leaves the room, careful to again only lock two of the locks, and heads to the meet.
