Oram did shift up a step or two from the middle and purposefully
took a position to join the front line. In the end, he wasn't following the intent of the formation, but he does not understand the language or have familiarity working with you guys. Also, in his mind he needed to get his ass up and on-line with the others so that he could do his part and also protect his severely wounded fellow armsman behind him.
In my head, I sort of loosely pictured him between Kray and Thorn. After looking
here again though to review, I think the positioning mapped would have made it more likely that he moved between Kray and Ivor, as you said. So that Sentinel OA was definitely justified. Unsuccessful this time, but we can keep it in mind.
So now, after the initially flurry of short positional shifts and combat chaos, the line roughly looks like this I think, with dogs kind of crammed in there not so great on accuracy but hopefully good enough to picture...
