Episode 2

Dec 16, 2018 4:37 am
His back to Bryn and one eye on the encroaching mass of ooze, Thorn's arms work hard to mow down the enemy on their left flank, working his way methodically around toward the party's goal: further in to the room. Urdav's blade surges, weaving around attempted parries, finding weak places in the enemies' hides, and contributing to the growing pool of gore and flesh.
OOC:
Thorn is attacking 7 until it's dead, then working on 8. If by some miracle he kills them both this turn, he's going to move clockwise around Bryn's current position to enter melee with MY.

Thorn
R4

With two multi-armed enemies bearing down on him, Thorn knows he needs to put at least one of them down to control the sheer number of attacks coming his way. He heaves his oversized blade outward but tilts the angle at just the right moment. It connects with the forearm of one of wretched monsters, severing off a hand holding a sharp bronze poniard.

The spider fiend squeals at the pain, its body instinctively seizing up for a split second. That's all Thorn needs. He arcs the through-swing away, converts left and high, and then brings Urdav's blade flying down full speed to collide with the top of the bulging-eyed beast's skull. The wild fiend is killed instantly; the momentum of the killing strike drives the headless remains directly down to the floor with a thud.

Both Attacks Hit SM7

Thorn eyes the churning gel with periphery vision as the remaining spider man hybrid hacks at him relentlessly.

Uburatu sees Elam running full speed at him. He steadies and focuses closely to anticipate his adversary's movement. Uburatu knows that the traitorous upstart will try to glide by after a strike. He will have to time it perfectly to trip Elam in the pass.

"Shedu dog!" Uburatu shouts out in contempt, gripping his heavy curved blade at the ready.

Elam
R4

Elam watches Uburatu's movements and tell signs, deciding approach and series at the last fractions of the second. Elam sees the path.

Shifting trajectory slightly, Elam angles straight in towards the shield. He times the jump early enough so that the descent will bring him low at the right spacing. He braces for the hit, his foot connecting full force at the bottom of the shield, and then immediately tucks forward in a pull and crouch.

Using the shield as a barrier, Elam cuts off the angle. Uburatu has to shift to bring the khopesh around to attempt the strike. By that time, Elam is already making the turn counter clockwise, his back close to Uburatu's left side.

Elam swipes upward quickly at the end of the spin as he rises again and continues the run.

Curse! The brute's armor is too strong.

But Elam has the wind and can see the next pivot. Namtur is ahead.

They have to take away the shield, though it will be difficult.
But the foreigners only need a short time longer before they are free.

Oh, no. Akkeen. Adar-Malic.

Bellowing a trumpet-like MOO, the bull reflexively kicks back at the biting spiderman. He then drives forward, throwing his head side to side, attempting to gore the myrmidon.

Poison save failed. Not sure what the effect was. Assuming it is POISONED condition.
SM11 Kick misses.
MZ Gore misses too, I believe (13 vs AC)

Furious and frightened, the bull spins about and sees the opening, safety away from the attacking beasts. He dashes forward, leans hard to the right and turns, hooves sliding on stone to keep up with the acceleration. He comes to a stop and prepares to attack - beasts now only in one direction.

J, move Maeriks up-right about 20 feet, close-ish to the tatted twinsies, about a 5ft gap between them and Maeriks. This will likely provoke opportunity attacks.

Bull Maeriks
R4

In the form of the bull, Maeriks kicks and thrusts horns at the attacking myrmidon. The troop's sturdy armor saves him from being gored, and he briefly gives space to avoid being kicked. With head and horns low, the bull throws its rear legs up and back in a quick snap, forcing the spider fiend that was closing in behind to give space to avoid getting its head cracked by the hooves.

As Bull Maeriks turns to move away though the soldier steps up again to assault.

The pale spider fiend also tries to slash at the bull as it charges past.

Since you brought attention to it, will expose now that I'm trying to run a delayed effect of poison to make it more realistic. Few poisons I think are INSTANT effects in reality. Some short timespans pass before they set in.
Good news: a couple of rounds with no damage/no Conditions.
Bad news: 1 or both of those is coming.
Thorn and Kray sustained bite(s) in the past rounds also.
Movement completed to identified position.

Elam
R4 (cont'd)

A bull?! Elam thinks to himself. He cannot get trapped behind that obstacle.

And one of the hybrids is crossing. Being caught in their webbing is something he had to avoid at all costs.

Elam had to make the change.

"Akkeen!" he shouts, glancing at his distraught brother but only for a split-second. "Stand up! Fight!"

With that Elam turns hard right, shifting trajectory towards the other corner, keeping the main battle group to his left rather than his right.

Uburatu was already running behind. Elam could not see Balis, but he knew roughly where that savage was by now.

At the right moment and spacing, Elam turns and brings his two blades to guard. He stands ready as Uburatu closes in.

Uburatu
R4

Uburatu strides forward with hate in his eyes, bringing the heavy Khopesh to bear against Elam. The slippery Shedu had run out of room for the moment, but soon would try to slink away again and continue this cowardly chase. The big battle captain tries to trip the scrawny rebel to take away his mobility.

Movement
Attack 1: Khopesh at Disadvantage for Trip Attempt
Attack 2: Khopesh (with Trip Maneuver IF) first Trip is unsuccessful
Bonus: Shield Bash Attack

Uburatu brings a series of expert strikes that would down and likely kill many a worthy opponent, but Elam is simply too evasive. The swordsman's focus is exact, and he miraculously avoids every blow.

Balis
R4

Balis drops his sadistic laugh. He roars in frustration when Elam sails by and clacks his little sword against Balis' shield.

Sprinting in one direction first, Balis has to force a dead stop, turn, and relaunch back in the complete opposite direction as Elam runs the battle space end-to-end.

When Balis is almost back to full speed, Elam changes direction suddenly. Balis has to pull back on acceleration to match the abrupt turn.

Hate this puny elf! Why can't it stand still!?

By the time Elam turns, Balis still has a distance to close before he can position to support Uburatu, who has already begun to engage.
