OOC:
Daaaaaaaang. Awesome descriptive AND deadly numbers on that entry, Ez.
Kray
R6

In an uncanny demonstration of unbridled violence, impeccable timing, and contempt against the danger he is in, Kray lays waste to the group of warriors who had surrounded him, exposing that they are second rate - not up to the task of containing him.

Rolling up from the ground, Kray drags his serated blade through the groin of his original opponent. As the big Heshbaan screams out, Kray spins towards the other myrmidon, blade fully extended with all of his momentum. It hits the mercenary full speed, right in the neck, about 2/3rd's the length of the weapon, decapitating him. A noticeable shout of shock and fear erupts from one of the Heshbaan javelin throwers nearby.

Building momentum from the second killing blow in a row, Kray pounces towards the mast, seeking the next victim in the stack. He brings the Judgement overhead and down, cutting a raider across the face and down into his chest and belly. Wounded and shocked the man half-falls and half-dives away just as another surges torward Kray with a javelin held high.

Kray steps forward into the charge, surprising the raider on the spacing and sliding his curved Otessite blade into the man's stomach and out of his back. As the man slumps forward dropping his javelin, Kray leans in and pulls close to the dying man to reset his grip on the hild of his sword. Then with a violent jerk, he tears the weapon back out just as he shoves the man to the side with his shield. The shredded man is flung to the side like a bloody rag doll, splattering to the deck.

Several of the javelin throwers are clearly faltering now. It has become clear that they have bitten off more than they could chew. Moments ago they envisioned themselves as raiders, ambushers, predators. They now begin to realize that they are the victims, the prey.

OOC:
Is anyone on the walkways between the upper levels?
OOC:
There are four archers on the port beam walkway, so on the right from Maeriks' vantage point.
No one on the starboard (Maeriks' left) walkway.
Dec 20, 2017 8:00 pm
Maeriks half-crouches, keeping his center of gravity low against any sudden rush coming against him through the fog. He paces forward, trying not to make too much noise while sticking just barely within sight of the railing to his right. The smokey mist begins to thin and he makes out several figures on a narrow walkway before him. Without a word, he charges forward and swings the shaft of his glaive again the man's chest, attempting to knock him overboard.

Trying to be stealthy. Two shove attempts, one after another to knock these guys overboard. If knocking them over the railing seems like it would be significantly more difficult, then Maeriks will just knock them down into the melee below. That probably won't damage them, but it should disrupt their height advantage. Of course, knocking them overboard is the preferred option! After the two shoves, bonus staff to the face for the next in line.

Maeriks
R6

Maeriks barrels out from the mist and into the bowmen standing along the port beam walkway.

He knocks the first Heshbaan overboard.

The second hugs the rails and tucks in to resist the shove, but drops his notched arrow in the process.

When he reaches the third archer in the line, Maeriks swings the butt end of his glaive out, first hit the raider in the shoulder and then carrying through to glance him on the head.

Shove 1: Success
Shove 2: Resisted
Bonus Attack shaft: Hit

The fourth archer in the line's eyes go wide as Maeriks ends his charge and swing only a step away. He makes the mistake of stepping backwards to draw and fire, leaving himself at length for Maeriks' return swing with the blade end of his pole axe.

Archer Raider 4 steps back to avoid Disadvantage close range shortbow shot, opens self to Opportunity Attack from Maeriks if Maeriks uses R6 Reaction.

Round 6 Update

Actions complete by Kray and Maeriks.

Actions available for Thorn, Ivor, Bryn.

Thorn starts in Blinded condition, though can likely Move out of it in similar manner as Kray and Maeriks.

Bryn and Ivor have details about the requirements and circumstance for their alternate infil points, which are yet unknown to the rest of the party at this time.

Opponent positioning and notes:

Four Heshbaan raiders stand between Kray and a myrmidon bodyguard. They are mixed along a downward ramp that routes down about 3 feet to a sunken middle section of the boat.

That myrmidon bodyguard is at the midship mast staged close with Valetes in the lowered central section.

On the port beam high deck walkway, there are two Heshbaan archers. One is seriously injured. Maeriks stands among them after charging through.

Valates is at the midship mast, using it as cover (against ranged Attacks coming from port direction only).

Distributed among the sunken lower section are a team of rowers huddling among the benches and under the walkways. At a glance, these are likely slaves or at least non-combatant laborers. They have no armor, arms, and at least some are chained to their positions.

Distance from end edge of the fog and midship is 25'.

The space in the middle of the port deck, from the edge of the fog to the downward ramp is 10'. It is now cluttered with bodies of the dead and injured and considered Difficult Terrain. (Thanks, Kray.) The rest of the sunken level is considered Difficult Terrain as well. It is cluttered with benches, oars, and cowering rowers.

X, Thorn can move forward to take up position with Kray and support the carve-a-path program to reach midship by engaging at least some of that last batch of raiders.

At the midship mast, Valates drops over to the side crashing down among the benches and the rowers.

From the clutter of the sunken deck, he yells out in a mix of pain and anger. "aaaaa-AAARGGHH!! What the FUUUCK....?!!!!!"
OOC:
From Kray, Thorn, Maeriks vantage points, this is more of a sound and a glance, happening all the while when you guys are in the thick of the melee. Not all of the details in, but in these intense seconds you can make note that Valates just went down and then yells out as such.

Thorn surges forward behind Kray, slashing a path to Valates.
OOC:
Don't have a lot of time to add any narration, sorry; just wanted to get those rolls in. Sounds to me like Valates just got stabbed in the back by someone? The second Thorn hears that, he wants to get Valates double quick and make sure that bastard lives.

Thorn
R6

Thorn moves up beside Kray and continues the assault on the Heshbaan line. He cuts through the defenders on the down-ramp like a hot knife through butter.

One Heshbaan is hit so hard in the head that his skull split completely apart, brains and blood splattering on the other raider next to him. Three men fall over dead or dying within seconds.

Horrified, the last of the raider skirmishers standing casts his javelin and shield aside and throws himself prostrate on the deck at Thorn's feet. He clings to Thorn's feet and speaks out frantically in a desperate plea. Thorn cannot understand the words, but clearly the man is begging for his life.

All Attacks are hits.
The fourth and final Hesh raider is the one begging for mercy. The last hit will kill him also, a stab into his back on the floor, unless it is diverted at the last minute by choice.
Option: Thorn can spare the raider by diverting the last downward strike. Or just confirm the kill.

Heshbaan opponents
R6

The archer who dropped his bow and dodged Maeriks' charge along the port beam walkway steps up onto the rail and jumps into the river.

The other Heshbaan who was struck by Maerik's glaive pole backs away and throws down his weapon. Eyes wide with fear and darting back and forth from Maeriks to Thorn and Kray and then back again, he puts his hands out and kneels down onto the stern deck. He pleads with Maeriks in Heshbaan as he bows down to him.

The final big myrmidon at the mast looks over his shoulder to see Valates fall. Ahead of him he sees all of the skirmishers falling to the greatsword of the hulking warrior who approaches him. In an effort to escape, he retreats from the sunken deck by the upward ramp and moves defensively across the stern deck to the back rail of the ship, looking for an escape from this lost cause.

R6 Wrap-Up

Thorn and Kray have killed their way down to a few steps away from midship.

Thorn has one raider clinging to his feet. We'll see if that guy is spared or dead too.

Valates is laying on his back, down in one of the aisles between the rower benches. His shield and spear are dropped. He is still alive, but is making no movements of resistance, defense, or attack. More to follow on that in a full entry.

One raider is surrendering before Maeriks on the port beam walkway.

Bryn is on the back stretch of the starboard beam walkway , at the corner of the stern deck.

The last myrmidon, and the only opponent still armed (shield and spear), is at the stern deck near the rail.

Ivor is pulling up and over the stern rail near the main steer rudder. He will have option to confront the myrmidon at the beginning of Round 7 if desired.

There are moans and cries of the dying Heshbaans littered around the deck.

In the sunken level among the benches and tucked under the platforms of the beam walkways are hiding 8-10 rowers. They are grungy and wear impoverished clothing. None are visibly armed. Several are chained to the benches.
OOC:
I'll hold here for the Christmas break.
Next entry will be Valates' action taken from his fallen position.
After that, will shift to R7 and PCs will be back in Action as desired.
But clearly, the Korvaran is overtaken.

The tip of Thorn's blade sinks inches into the wood planking next to the poor man's head. He winks at the raider, then continues the race the Valates.

The fleeing Myrmidon suddenly finds his escape route blocked by Ivor who has just clambered over the stern rail intending to ambush Valates and his men from behind. The big Dannein, water from his swim glistening on rippling muscles, unhooks the net from his belt and cracks a sneer.

From the deck, lying on his back down behind a bench, Valates sounds out, "AAh-hhha--hoooww!! Kray, you let your Danny mules use poison?! Oh, you fucking WOMAN."

As Thorn and Kray come to look on, they see Valates holding a severe wound on the right side of his neck. He is holding pressure on it, although the blood continues to run. The skin around the wound is visibly blackening. Before their eyes it seems to be getting worse. It is almost as if his flesh is rotting and there is something causing tissue damage on his neck and up around the side of his face.

Valates grimaces in pain and shifts himself where he can see Kray and Thorn directly. He breathes in and out a few times, labored.

"Hey, do me a favor, will you? Kill those cowards that are running and jumping ship. I can't seem to get up and do it myself. You know they deserve it." He laughs cynically and then chokes and coughs blood. Now the blood is on his teeth when he speaks.

He looks around at his decimated crew. "You're wasting your time recruiting here, Kray. Heshes don't fight for shit. And Yakud won't commit. He's a pussy." A few more labored breaths. "Total pussy." His voice is quieting. He opens and closes his eyelids slowly.
