Bryn
TR5

Bryn continues his drift back and forth to the Golem, looking for openings that allow for quick strikes. He connects on a couple. One of the strikes chips off a clump of clay that is shaped like the Golem's helmet-like hair. Once removed, the corner chunk of material leaves a divot that stretches from hair to the corner of the neck, a visual reminder that the beast is one huge mass of formed clay.

Attacks: Both hit. SA incorporated.

Hoping to get back on later during the day.

Golem Fight TR5: Trece has option for Action.

Disguise Team: anything you want to send.
Consider this, if sneaking by is the imagery you're going for, then ALL PCs need to send Stealth.
If you are trying to bluff by, play the roll of Invisible Servants escorting a drunk noble, then do this:
Kray send Deception.
Thorn send Performance.
Apr 17, 2018 7:40 am
Kray steps back from the corner. "Multiple doorways and rooms. Best chance is to move ahead in plain sight. Robed lackeys escorting another mark." Briefly he considered what was going on here. The comfort stations and the poetry recitals. Robed servants escorting intoxicated nobles down here, to these rooms.

But for what purpose, exactly? And for who, ultimately? The Sar? Kray considered the throne room in the Black Ziggurat. He recalled Rutcranna's ascension to... divinity? Something else merged with a god? He remembered Glaaki.

Ithaqua.

All of them supposedly ancient gods. And, for Kray, gods were becoming more and more tangible, less story and legend.

Given J's description, I'd say the disguise option is our best choice. Even if we get caught, I think it will give us some element of surprise.

Quick check in:

Kray's Deception check is in.
Next component needed: Thorn's Performance check.
Sooo looking forward to this. Thorn's very first time on the stage! His first character role: a stoned out aristocrat. Wow. Are we about to witness the experience that eventually leads to a career change? Is anyone other than me thinking "latent talent"?

Also Trece staged up for last remaining PC Action in TR5 of Golem Brawl 861, with a Help Booster in the utility belt from Lok.

OOC:
Hey J, as much as I want to roll the dice, wouldn't the performance check be for Ivor, as he is the other team member in disguise? Thorn is back with Ra u nak.

If I'm missing something here, let me know what the performance is for, and I'll write something up.

Was kinda wondering too but didn't want to bring it up as Ivor has shit Charisma LOL!

OOC:
I'm laughing as I write. I have to leave you in the discomfort. I tossed in some internal randomness with a d6 roll above to figure out possibilities.

I'm letting Kray do the deceiving part of this because he's best at it. And he is the one that would have an edge to react to the circumstance in a realistic way.

To pull this sham off though, Thorn is playing a role (your guys' choice, it's why I asked for such clarity previously) as a drugged-out foreigner. With Ra u nak sort of tagging along with enough knowledge and his race and demeanor will seem like he is a servant in on the assignment. And it's a good pick you guys have by the way. I'll tell you ahead of time that it would sort of make sense. But it takes these two components that we need rolls on to see how it goes in the end.

As I've said before, so many of these Skill checks and their DCs are quite arbitrary. Who does them? Who even has a chance to make a check? How many people can try? How do you pick the number needed for success? No matter what anyone says, there is a lot of subjectivity and wild DM fiat to them. To me playing the old version of the game, I still see skills as sort of dumped onto D7D like an afterthought. So yeah, I get it that there are often moments of "Hmmm. I don't know, DM. That just doesn't seem right."
Solution to that: not sure. We just have to roll with it.

I'm hoping that it might make more sense after you see what goes on next. I think it will be pretty interesting no matter what happens, but hopefully it will be realistic enough in the end to say that it overall made some sort of sensible relationship between the mix of the characters, their choices, the dice, and the results. At least something good enough.

Thorn, with Ra u nak at his side, follows after Kray as the noble moves ahead.

I'm an intoxicated rich man.

Thorn shakes his head, attempting to look bewildered, and in a drugged state. Truth, he has had little use for deception in his career; only once or twice when his work took him into seedier places. But never like this.

Yshala, I don't even know what I'm like when I'm actually shit-faced.

He thinks it prudent to reach out for Ra u nak's arm as a guide.

It's hard to tell if this is going well.

Thorn says:
I'm an intoxicated rich man.
Kray, from thorough personal experience in all forms of twisted debauchery in a staggering variety of dope dens and whore houses, from the most depraved to the most lavish, could tell immediately that Thorn lacked the wasted look, head roll, staggering shuffle, desperate grasp for support from a nearby anything...

Fates fucking sake, man. You're getting it all wrong...

X, you are killing it on the dice lately. Usually so reliable ha.

Kray leads the way around the corner to the right. The others fall in line behind him, Thorn trying to play the role of the drunk foreign noble with Ra u nak at his side, Ivor offset slightly behind as another invisible servant providing escort.

The group passes by several of the open doors. Inside the rooms, they see the invisible servants and the poets sitting and talking with various drugged out men. Some of the victims are sitting in chairs, others laying on beds, but all seem to be the center of attention among 3 or 4 palace workers who are watching them carefully and talking to them.

One of the black robed servants is right at the door when Kray passes, leading the group forward. The young Heshbaan man dressed in black wears close cut hair and beard. He stares at Kray as he goes by, but then shuts the door.

Step after step they get closer.

Closer to the end of the hall where they can turn the last corner into a larger chamber, make a crossing and look for the stairs that Ra u nak described.

Trece
TR5

Trece draws his arm far at an angle, full extension across his body and past the opposite shoulder, and then swings with full fury. The backhand strike connects with all of its force precisely at the divot that Bryn cut out of the Golem's hair form and neck. Trece's hand slams with a loud thud in the shallow indention.

For the first time, Trece hears a crack. It sound snaps through the air only slightly, but there is no mistaking it. Trece's sensitive hands can feel the subtle change in the structure as well. A hairline crack perhaps, not deep at all. But the Golem is no longer whole - Trece knows it.

The young Seetan rares back twice more, connecting straight punches into the Golem's broad face.

As the group passes, when Kray is only a few steps away from the larger hall, a voice. Calling out from behind.

The man speaks in Heshbaan. It is difficult for Kray to follow the exact wording. He closes his eyes very briefly, focusing to think it through quickly, let his mind go in the language that he has been surrounded by, get it right. He had to answer. The black robed man had asked a question, along with the order he had made.

With a deep breath Kray turns and steps aside, facing back the opposite way he just came, letting the others continue past.

"I understand," Kray says in Heshbaan, "We have the other set up in the last room past the corner. This one we take back."

Kray stares at the man, who is standing in the threshold of one of the doors that was previously closed. The man is a chubby Heshbaan with an oiled beard and thick curly hair. The black robes are loose around his fat neck. He squints his eyes at Kray and watches.

Poet wins comparison. Deception unsuccessful.

Kray sees it in a split second. The fat man knows.

Kray is four steps away from the man, and the doorway in which he stands.

In an explosion of motion, the Golem grips Trece with both hands and flings him outward in a high speed swing, all the while stepping strongly into a pivot and turn. The whole mass of Trece's body becomes a heavy club swinging directly at Bryn.

Attack: Trece as weapon v. Bryn.

After taking the swing, the Golem arches unobstructed right arm back, over, and down. Trece is flung like a doll again, trying to shift his weight enough to take the full brunt of being crashed against the stone floor.

Without even slowing down, the Golem grabs straight out at Bryn, the monster's huge left hand coming at Bryn like a merciless maul.

Palla Ba
BR5

All the while as the Golem turns and swings, Palla Ba is right there under the monster, ever trying to pull Trece free and keep him from being hit. Again when Trece is swung towards the floor, Palla Ba intervenes, throwing himself beneath and putting his hands up to break the motion and take some of the impact on himself.

Reaction, Sacrificing Help
Splits the above damage if it is a hit
Palla Ba takes 9 Damage
Trece takes 8 Damage

Knocked hard to the ground, Palla Ba has the wind knocked from him and he coughs out a cry of pain. Yet he still rolls over and slips back to his feet.

Limping now, the old Seetan calls out in Kortellan to Sizhen, "The chain as a weapon! It can help to crack the neck!"

Bonus Action: Remote Help to Sizhen

Then in Zutaran, the elder speaks out, seemingly to the Golem itself!

"Woe to you, Mindless One. You walk because of Words and Symbols of Power, but those will be silenced and cracked!

You will be laid to waste.

This one's hands are honed to break the sigils of wizards. He is a weapon, forged for the ruin of the djinn.

He will close your false eyes, put you back to lifeless earth!"
