wishidbeen has apparently left the game on his own, without saying anything. What I'd like to do, if everyone is amenable, is continue with the players we have, with Linus chipping in with short posts when he can. How does that sound?
Mantra and Petrev impress the guests mightily with their respective talents, building up a stock of goodwill they may be able to exploit to their advantage later on. Mantra receives requests for particular well-known tunes, and Petrev is called upon several times to repeat his stories to new listeners.

Just shy of noon several guards, wearing the red and black livery of Lord Othorion over their mail, enter the tavern. 'We have received notice that a well-known thief, one halfling, is in this establishment, intending to commit conspiracy to unlawfully obtain property belonging to his lordship, the honourable Othorion!' one declares, reading from a scroll. The guards seize Davrick, the only halfling in the common room, and search him. Finding the note, they arrest him and march him out of the inn. Questions are asked about the halfling's companions, but Mantra's and Petrev's many new friends vouch for their character and refuse to accept that they are involved.

From a table in the corner, a shady-looking pair, one half-elf and one human, watch the proceedings with quiet intensity, taking pains to draw no attention to themselves.

Momo nudges the two that weren't arrested, "That pair over there are kind of looking at us, I think. Maybe one of you should talk to them. It could be another trap by that jerk Cyrus."

Thinking about Cyrus, Momo became noticeably frustrated. "Do you think Cyrus turned in Davrick?"
Feb 7, 2018 10:41 pm
I agree Momo, maybe a chat with our watchers is in order, but first let me stir the pot a little.
Petrev continues talking to the other guests, he starts to insinuate that perhaps the shady pair in the corner might have been working with the halfling or maybe even that it wasnt halfling but half elf they were looking for. Perhaps someone should get the guards

Mantra walks up to them. Hey, what're you looking at?
Feb 10, 2018 12:40 pm
The half-elf ignores the question and says: 'Hey, you came in with the Run– I mean, with that halfling that was just arrested. My associate and I might have a business proposition for you. Think it over, we'll talk later.' Meanwhile, the crowd is murmuring, with people beginning to stare. The pair look uncomfortable with the attention and attempt a discreet move towards the back door.
Feb 10, 2018 10:35 pm
Petrev casually blocks the back door.
Without looking at anyone in particular, he saysIt seems you were all right, the halfling was taken by mistake and it was the half elf they were after.
In a quieter whisper only the pair can hearCyrus shouldn't have sent you and you shouldn't have gotten our halfling imprisoned.
Again in a louder voice what are you dropping there? Petrev drops his own letter from Cyrus, before picking it up again.

Mantra turns to Petrev. Stop. I want to hear them out.
Mantra then turns his attention back to the two. We can't think over something we haven't heard.
Feb 11, 2018 3:32 am
fair enough, perhaps i have been a bit hasty whispers Petrev to Mantra
Feb 11, 2018 6:11 am
'It's a, uh, delicate matter. This is not the best place to discuss it. But we think you might be good people to do business with, so we want you to keep an open mind.'

'What are you doing? I didn't drop anything!' the human protests indignantly.

The captain and two other guards are led back into the inn by one of the guest. 'Is there a problem here?' the captain asks.
Feb 11, 2018 6:28 am
Nope, false alarm.
Feb 12, 2018 10:22 am
'Excuse me, sir,' the captain says. 'But I was speaking to this gentleman.'

'No, no, everything's alright,' the human replies. 'My friend and I were just about to go outside for some fresh air.' The two exit through the inn's back door.

You notice a resemblance between one of the guards and the human.
Feb 12, 2018 12:41 pm
Well, Mantra lets hope they have something good for us.
I think our only chance of getting those two out of the way just walked out the door.
Feb 12, 2018 12:59 pm
I don't know why you're so suspicious. We can still kill them if they try to mess with us. Surely, if they wanted to stop us, they could have just called the guards on us. Mantra says quietly.
Feb 12, 2018 1:03 pm
Petrev quietly repliesDon't think of it as suspicious, more just overly concerned about someone already knowing about us when we arrived and having lost one of our party. While they seemed to be waiting for us. But yes on the bright side we can kill them if need be, but considering how much one of them looked like the guard that might be another problem.

Just to clarify, are you asking them to head over with you right now, or later on?
Feb 13, 2018 8:03 am
OOC:
later on, after we have preened sufficiently:-)
Feb 14, 2018 6:12 am
The idea is received warmly, with several guests approving of the idea.
