Gameplay - Chapter 2 - Dakaj's Solace Inn

Feb 3, 2018 12:38 am
At Davokar's edge lays the solitary inn Dakaj's Solace. A partially completed pallisade juts into the water bracketing a meager pier. That log wall is under construction and does not yet join up with another 12 feet high pallisade that surrounds the inn.

From the pier, a well worn path leads to a gatehouse, complete with a bronze alarm bell well covered in verdigris. Over the wall you can see a three story stone building.

A man and woman exit the gatehouse and approach the docking River Maiden with warm spirits, waving to the crew as they fasten the river boat.

Captain Ogval calls out, "Koldra, Tandrag!" in greeting.

After having recovered from his injuries, Darthon kept a closer eye on the ships surroundings for monsters, but to his relief the rest of the journey stayed uneventful.

Darthon made sure not to forget anything on the ship as they tied up the boat. The bow slung over his shoulder and pack on his back, he moved to the Captain. "Friends of yours? Anything else we can help with?" were his questions, despite being ready to hop off and get a good cup of wine.
Feb 7, 2018 12:46 am
Ogval claps Darthon on the shoulder. "Friends, indeed. While I thank you for the offer, we have little to unload here before we continue on."

He clasps arms with Tandrag, while Koldra beams at him, then they exchange a brief hug. "Come up to the inn, Ogval, while we prepar some stew for your crew?" she eyes Darthon, Eferenya and Fenya questioningly.

"Thank you, lady, no, these four are for you," he says, including Harasto who is also departing. "At least they were coming here."

She smiles brightly. "Excellent

Bantalom

When you arrived in Thistle Hold after journeying from your ancestral home in Ambria, Master Vernam was not there. Long overdue from returning from an expedition into the forbidding Davokar forest, the Order Magica requested that you trace his steps, seek him out, and return with news of his condition, or fate.

Your first stop was as far as they could send you, to the Dakaj's Solace Inn. Using the Order's Circle Magic, when you were ready, they sent you to that inn instantly, though you understood that you'll need to find your one way back, unless you can master Circle magic before then. Stranger things have happened in the forests of Davokar.

You have spent a night or two in the inn. Shortly after you arrived, so did a human minstrel named 'Blackhawk'. He normally travels along the edge of Davokar, entertaining others in exchange for shillings and ortegs. Claiming to have been 'tutored by the elves of Ylhurandy', he is a heavy drinker but knows much about the region's legends. He is awaiting a crew that he hired to hunt down one such legend, though he has kept those details to himself.

Knowing that a single person has a short life in the dark forest, you have hoped that you could joint Blackhawk's crew, and then get them to help you look for Vernam.

The shouts have gone up from young Melga in the front lookout. The expected boat has arrived.

Bantalom waits until it looks like there's an opening to speak with Blackhawk, and he approaches, "Greetings from the Order Magica. I've been told to look for one named Blackhawk if I need a tall tale. Might you go by that name?"

He wraps his arms up in his traveling cloak, to shelter them from the elements. Lean sinew and weak joints do not hold up in the cold. Nor in heat for that matter. Bantalom cast a lingering glance around the area, taking in the sights, the people, everything really.
Feb 11, 2018 6:51 am
Returning the smile and a wink to Koldra, he answers "I hope you don't mind the company.". Darthon then waves to Eferenya and Fenya to follow as he jumped from the ship. His eyes wide and a wince escaping him for a moment as a jolt of pain shot through his injured shoulder. Regaining his posture quickly, he shot another smile to the captain and the others as he waved them a goodbye on his way to the camp.

Blackhawk stands and greets Bartolom exhuberantly. "What a pleasure to meet you. I am, indeed, Blackhawk, minstrel of these exciting lands." He makes sure Bartalom sits and that Koldra is aware of B's entrance. "I have many stories in my repetoire. Would you prefer to hear a tale of horror, adventure, romance?"

"A riveting tale. Would you take coin for your inspired narration? Or perhaps, may I reward such an informative and fascinating story with something a little more lucrative?"

Bantalom waits for the crowd to dissipate somewhat. "As I understand it, you're looking for a helping hand. Particularly in your search for the next great epic, to regale your crowds and win an evening of drinks. One more jaunt into Davokar, but this time with the Order Magica on your side." He sweeps over his blessed cloak, his walking stick, and his other possessions. "I present an advantage that could prove difficult to obtain on such agreeable terms."
Feb 15, 2018 5:34 pm
Eferneya jumps down from the River's Maiden, the weathered and on one side partly shredded brown hood of her cloak pulled over her head bathing her face in shadow, increasing the menacing look provided by the red warpaint covering its upper half, her brown eyes gleaming out from under it with fiery fierceness, a Crow's Beak hanging from one side of her belt and a stiletto from the other. Despite the more delicate qualities associated with her sex, Eferneya stood out as an imposing and deadly fighter among the shadows and trunks of the tall trees of the Davokar, her familiarity with the massive forest and the ways of its peoples made her blend right in. She seemed much more at home and in her element here, in the shadowy wilds of the Davokar, than in any of the civilized towns of Ambria.

The barbarian witch nodded respectfully to the innkeepers and strode sternly up the path to the inn alongside Darthon and Fenya, while taking in the inn grounds themselves as well as their surroundings, one time stopping to look up and see if she could gauge any signs or omens from the skies above, through the canopy of the tall dark trees.

Blackhawk hears the shouts outside. "Hold that thought, dear Bantalom. I think my hired crew has arrived. Let us see what we make of them, hmm?"

The minstrel leads Bantalom outside, following the children. They pick up crossbows, and climb to the gatehouse as Koldra opens them, revealing the sleek river boat at moor.

Bantalom watches with modest interest, unsure what to think of the interruption.
Feb 20, 2018 4:32 pm
OOC:
Well, enough of your blathering, heh, onwards and upwards.
The assorted people disembark from the ship and are introduced to Koldra and Tandrag and their children. After unloading some supplies meant for the inn and then a brief meal where the adventure of the river beast is retold, Ogval and his crew return to their ship and continue onward down the river.

Horasta the merchant retires to his room, complaining of a sore back owing to sleeping on the deck of a boat for several days.

The minstrel Blackhawk along with Koldra reveal the following information:
At Davokar’s edge lays the solitary inn Dakaj’s Solace Inn. Dakaj was a Black Cloak who felt drawn to the location by dreams and inner voices. When he arrived he found a wellspring flowing with holy Water of the Dusk. Dakaj built a shrine by the well, and all who travelled along the forest edge were welcomed to stay there, to rest and heal and enjoy the comfort of the miraculous water. But the fate of the chapel was pre-determined, vulnerable as it was, resting there in the shadow of Davokar.

Dakaj was killed by an elven war band, and the shrine was razed to the ground to avenge human transgressions deeper into the woods. The light of the spring dimmed out as soon as Dakaj’s heart was pierced by an elven arrow. However, that did not stop the energetic adventurer Koldra from monetizing on the legend, by building an inn near the well. She settled on the name Dakaj’s Solace and fortified the place with a palisade – in contrast to her precursor, she was not about to trust solely in Prios’ mercy for her survival.
A couple of days prior to the arrival of the player characters, a suspicious "pilgrim" was driven away by Koldra as he showed an unhealthy interest in the sacred spring. The obviously drugged man spoke incoherently about wanting to "prepare the well-spring for the arrival of his mistress", but Koldra refused to let him stay within the palisade.

The supposed pilgrim swore that he would return and that he would be much less diplomatic when he did: "Lady Nightblade will not be forgiving towards those who stand in her way!" Koldra did not think twice about it; she had experienced worse during her adventuring days. However, she has made sure that some family member is always on the lookout at night. That way the keeper of the inn, as well as any guests, will get a warning if the pilgrim and his mistress return.
Feb 20, 2018 5:51 pm
Fenya, who is unsure how to behave around the big folk, tries to stay out of sight for the most part but eavesdrops on all conversations. "Lady Nightblade!"the goblin whispers. "She sounds scary, Kverula!"
Feb 20, 2018 6:31 pm
Some more background notes on the inn...

Koldras family. The husband Tandrag and their four children Melga (13), Nefer (11), Sandros (7) and Pegel (5), keep to themselves and manage the inn.

Mangold, plant-loving house-ogre. Mangold is an unusually meek ogre, who is happiest when he gets to tend to the well-kept garden of the inn.
The Siege!

That night, the player characters wake up in the middle of the night as a black-feathered arrow hits the shutters: the inn is under attack! Koldra’s eldest, Melga, sounds the alarm bell, and moments later the fortified inn is in an uproar.

What do you do upon waking?

Upon being woken up so roughly, the first thing Darthon did was of course the most important. Trying to find his pants.
One hand holding his pants up and the other gripping the bow and quiver of arrows, he tumbled out of his room "What is happening? Are we being attacked?". Rushing to find the owners of the place, Darthon hoped to find out if they had any plans for such situations.

Feb 23, 2018 6:53 pm
Eferneya wakes up with a gasp as the alarm bell starts ringing, her hand instinctively going for the crow's beak lying on top of the night desk on her right. After the ordeal on the River Maiden she had hoped to get a night of uninterrupted rest here in Dakaj's Solace Inn, but that apparently wasn't in the cards. She jumped up from the bed, quickly put on her overgown and huried out of her room and downstairs, prepared for combat.

Darthon finds the inn in chaos. Koldra and Tandrag are pulling on their outer clothes. They rush down the stairs ahead of him as he gets hung up on the wonder of the moment. He sees the Blackhawk choosing in his room, fingering his spiked club but looking like he wants to just hide.

Bantalom sees the children head upstairs, warned by their parents to stay out of harm's way. He thinks the third floor but be a good idea if he wants to be out of the way.

Eferneya runs downstairs after the innkeepers. They say the word "Melga", the name of their oldest child, who is in the guard post above the gate.
Feb 24, 2018 6:51 am
Bantalom quickly ascended to the third floor, and stood by the stairs, watching the lower floor and listening intently. From here, he could more readily defend himself if that should come to it.
Feb 24, 2018 9:28 am
Casting aside his fear of being unwelcome in the inn, Fenya bursts into the common room and finds Eferneya there. "Goblins!" he squeaks. "They're coming over the wall with ladders! And they're going to kill whoever's on guard! And ringing the alarm bell!"
Feb 25, 2018 4:47 am
Passing the room at first, Darthon took a few steps back and looked at the minstrel. Fenya's words ringing in his ear and having seen Koldra and Tandrag run ahead of him, there was only one reasoning to go by. One of their children was the one who rang the bell.
Darthon threw his bow and quiver on Blackhawks bed to have the other hand free to close his pants and pull on his silk shirt. "Damn it. We were caught with our pants down and now there is a kid about to be overrun by goblins." Darthon talked loudly, so the minstrel could clearly hear him, as he tried to get a look through the shutters to the gatehouse. While not looking at him, he then adressed Blackhawk directly and clearly "Blackhawk. What do the people in good stories do in such a case? Maybe we can take inspiration from a tale and come out ahead.".
Darthon was itching to grab his bow and get the child, but hoped to instill a similar desire in the minstrel.

Cursing he grabbed his bow and quiver and continued downstairs "Damn it. We need a plan fast. Every second we waste, the goblins get closer to the kid. I'm going!".

"I'll protect the children, go!" says the Blackhawk, gripping his spiked club tightly.

From the front door, Fenya can see a goblin face rise above the top of the wall, a dagger in is teeth, to the cheers of many unseen others beyond the wall. Darthon and Eferneya rush down the stairs and end up on the main floor by the front door.

We've entered an initiative order. The goblins have acted, now it's the players turns. While the game system has initiative order determined by descending Quick scores, all the goblins have the same Quick, so now it's your turns.

Feet beating the floor as quick as they can, Darthon had barely a moment to think of a plan. Somehow they had to get the child away from the wall and manage to keep the attackers at bay. There was the possibility to use the kid in the defense instead of saving it, but Darthon did not realize that. Instead he saw their own goblinoid ally, Feny, pointing something out to him. Specifically him. Which drove him to push past the entrance, getting clear of the door to pull his bowstring with any strength he needed.

Gritting his teeth from the pain in his shoulder, Darthon pulled the bowsting with all his might. The little goblin head peeking over the wall was too tiny that he could allow a gust of wind to shift the arrow's path.

Bantalom is relatively safe, unless the inn is stormed, in which case xe may not have a viable escape route.

Eferneya runs for the ladder to the guard post above the gate, intent on getting Melga to safety.
Mar 2, 2018 1:17 am
The inside wall of the palisade has a catwalk that goes around, and occasional ladders up. Eferneya makes it up to the catwalk, and can see a mini throng of goblins clustered about the gate. As Eferneya's head peeks over, they raise bows and spears, but she can suck behind no problem.
OOC:
I thought that I had posted this, but because Darthon did total damage after armor greater than the goblin's Pain Threshold stat, one of two things can happen: it can get knocked down or the attacker can make an immediate free attack. For the sake of expedience, let's say the goblin was knocked back and is now scrambling back up the ladder, but hasn't made any headway.
Arrows fly over the wall, but without targets, they are ineffective.

Fenya can hear the goblins murmuring about "The Well."
The players are up again.

Bantalom will stay put. If the inn is stormed, he will fight to the last against any enemy that attacks him directly. Additionally, he is at the top of the stairs the children went up, so if anyone's getting to the children, it will be through him first.

"The Well! They're saying something about the Wellspring!" Fenya warns anyone who will listen, before scrambling up the ladders with Eferneya.

Glad that he had managed to prevent the goblin from getting onto the wall, Darthon let out a relieved breath. As the relief faded he felt the pain in his shoulder again and gave off a silent moan "Urgh, damn lizard.", stretching his arm. On Fenya's note that they were talking about the wellspring, Darthon decided he was the closest and should be the one checking it out. With both Fenya and Eferneya on the wall, he thought the girl safe.

With rushing feet Darthon made his way to the wellspring and looked around. "Oh man, what am I supposed to do?" he mumbled, looking around for any glow or sparkle in the wellspring. "Damn, someone who knows what they are doing should do this." Darthon sputtered, a glance to the shrine he added "If anyone is listening, we are trying to help, but I am really out of my element." before he continued to look around.

Mar 10, 2018 10:39 pm
Eferneya ducks besides the child, grabs her shoulders and looks into her eyes. "Hurry inside the inn child! I am right behind you!"
Mar 14, 2018 2:01 am
Eferneya pushes past the grasping hands of the goblin as it climbs over the wall and Eferneya enters the gate house, and finds the young girl cowering inside. She clutches a short blade to her chest, eyes red and puffy, while she finds the alarm bell with her left hand. It goes silent as she looks at Eferneya with hope.

Outside, she hears the goblin thump onto the catwalk, cutting off their only retreat, while a second goblin head rises up the ladder above the wall, jostled by the many behind waiting for their turn.
The goblins have acted so it is the players turn again. Eferneya and the girl are cornered in the gate house by a wounded goblin on the catwalk.

Not great with the more mystical things, Darthon looked to Mangold and said "Fenya said they want the Wellspring. Do something bad to it. Do you know of anything strange about it?", including his own understanding of why the goblins were trying to get inside.

As he had mentioned Fenya, he gave a quick glance to the gatehouse and pointed to it, during which he had noticed more goblins on the catwalk than he was allied with. The boiling fire engulfs the goblin leader and Bantalom suddenly realizes from the scream that it isn't a goblin at all, but an American (human) woman! She falls to the ground screaming and rolling about until the flames cease. She is wearing chainmail under her cloak and carries a black two-handed sword slung on her back.

Bantalom feels the foul yet intoxicating magic excuse from his pores, sticking to him, tainting him.

At the eruption of sorcery, and with their siege ladder stolen, the goblins flee for the woods, dragging their odd leader with them.

The wounded goblin in the walls attacks Eferneya with its rusty weapon... And she takes 5 damage (6 damage less armor). She falls prone from the force of the blow.
Your turns.

On Bantalom's turn, he will quickly pull up his hood, avoid making eye contact or physical contact with anybody, and try to find somewhere outside that he can be alone.
Apr 11, 2018 2:21 am
The children upstairs with Bantalom shirk back from his passing, a look of horror in their eyes. Magic is often mistrusted, especially near the dark forest of Davokar where abominations of corruption haunt the shadows.

That's the idea. No need to subject these kids to any more tonight. The world is old and full of terrors.

With wide eyes Darthon gazed towards the upper floor of the inn, after seeing flame shoot from it to the outside of the wall. "What was that." he mumbled, before realizing that one of the enemies was still on the wall and attacking his allies. Another arrow swiftly pulled from his quiver made its way towards the goblin.
Grunting a "Damn it.", Darthon reached for the next arrow, when he realized he only hit the armor.

Darthon's arrow fails to penetrate the goblins armor.

Posting for Eferneya: She attacks the goblin with her crow's beak, backing toward the ladder down.

Posting for Fenya: Fenya stabs with the spear.

Both miss or otherwise fail to do damage.

The goblin retaliates against Eferneya, and strikes her well. (4 damage = 6 base less 2 armor)
Bantalom and Darthon are up.

"Damn persistent that one." the archer cursed before aiming the next arrow at the lucky goblin. The strike against his allies seemed lucky as well and the urgency made Darthon pull the sinew of his bow a bit further back after the previous failure.
His shoulder pained a little after so much effort, but Darthon was sure he couldn't have pulled back stronger. Once the arrow was in the air he moved in a good pace closer to the inn bevor aiming at the gatehouse again.

Darthon's arrow strikes the goblin square and he falls to the ground, shuddering, then still.

For the moment, the goblin horde outside the gate appear to be dispersing. You can hear them mutter among themselves, growing fainter as they recede from the inn.

After a short time, the innkeeper comes out with the bard beside her. "What happened? Why did they leave?"

How's Bantalom's progress on finding a nice dark place with no people?
Apr 18, 2018 3:19 am
There is no one around Bantalom, as the children ran off. He can find a closet or something if he wants to hide in case they come back.
Apr 18, 2018 3:32 am
OOC:
Recall that he didn't stay put either. Immediately after launching the Cascade, he went looking for somewhere else to be. It's less about hiding, and more that he doesn't want to be in plain view. If there's like, a garden or dark alley, maybe a cellar, he'll try there.
Apr 18, 2018 8:39 pm
With no clue who had sent the flames at the enemy group, Darthon was at a loss as he heard the innkeeper's question. Confusion clearly visible, despite his grin for having been victorious, he pointed up to the upper floors of the inn and answered with a question "The fire attack sent them packing. Weren't that you who shot the flames?".
The thought coming to his mind that maybe Fenya had heard something when the attackers ran away, Darthon formed a cone with his hands around his mouth and shouted to his goblin ally "Fenya. Did they say anything when they left?".
Apr 18, 2018 8:54 pm
Eferneya half climbs half falls down the ladder and proceeds to drag herself towards the others, still with her crow's beak in hand. She is clearly quite wounded from being stabbed and slashed at multiple times by goblin blades in her attempt to save the child in the lookout, and blood is seeping through her clothes and witch gown.

"I need help!" She sounded more angry than frightened, as if to put utmost urgency on the matter. "Now!"
Apr 18, 2018 11:19 pm
Bantalom, being nowhere near the upstairs window, is unavailable for being pointed at. He is likely behind some house or shed, finding a way to still his mind against the corruption.
Apr 19, 2018 8:27 am
When Darthon saw Eferneya, his grin vanished as he dropped his bow and rushed over to give her a shoulder to lean on. Careful to support her, the archer tried to stay positive and attempted a joke "I thought we wanted to make just them bleed for attacking us." despite his voice not being very jovial.
Apr 20, 2018 1:08 am
Fenya responds to Darthon that it sounded to her that the goblins were just following their leader, the Nightblade. Once Nightblade got set on fire and fled, and their ladder was stolen, they seemed to get confused and moved away from the magefire.

The bard starts at that. "The Nightblade, you say? I thought she was dead."

Bantalom finds a quiet spot and concentrating of his energies, feels the corruption ooze out of him and back into the dark forest which seems to drink it like the ground drinks blood. Soon, he feels himself again, and the dark compulsions cease.

The innkeeper and her husband will help Eferneya inside, wary eyes upon the gate. They'll provide wine for washing and clean cloth for bandages.
Apr 20, 2018 1:19 am
Putting some thought into a more efficient way to do that, without having to run and hide, Bantalom composes himself and rejoins the crowd, looking for any way a commoner with average skills can lend a hand. Perhaps running the supply of cloth to and fro, or fetching buckets of water.

Bantalom is Novice in Medicus, which is the healing and doctoring skill.

Bantalom is unable to provide any immediate aid to Eferneya, but after a nights rest, he can try again to speed her recovery.
Apr 20, 2018 11:07 pm
The innkeepers and the stranger seemed to be sure they could take care of Eferneya's wounds, so Darthon felt secure enough to question the bard. A curious look on his face, the archer asked "Lady Nightblade? I heard that name before. Yesterday, right? It was about this pilgrim who treatened the inn. Do you know anythign about her?". Darthon had never been too interested in the myths, but the name was still fresh in his memories and he hoped the bard would share what information he had.
Apr 21, 2018 2:55 pm
The minstrel, Blackhawk, smiles and fills his fingers together. "Nightblade is a legend in these parts. A Sorcerer of some unknown arts, she had been seen for many years. Whenever she appears, she had some mad scheme and manages to entangle others. She grew ever more corrupted, and as it has been, oh, since a year now that I heard her name, I had hoped that she finally dropped dead."

His voice eases into the practiced lilt of a comfortable storyteller. "There are many secrets in the Dark Forest; here is one of them. Many years past, rumours of the witch tribe deeper inside the forest had come across Barrvalg's Cauldron, a sorcerous artifact of wide reknown. The Cauldron, crafted by the matter Alchemist Barrvalg's, is reputed to allow the Alchemist to craft a terrible mist that turns the imbibers into fierce battlers. The barbarians ranged wide sacking human and goblin outposts, until they had suffered to much loss themselves and had to retreat from their vengeful victims common cause. Their fate was certain, and the they retreated deeper into the woods than is safe for even their Hardy kind. The last rumours of the Nightblade are that she had hired a band of goblins to seek out the lost tribe, perhaps hoping to use the Cauldron to ease get own black corruption.

Since I heard her name from the Pilgrim, I've been thinking of this Cauldron. It seems more that she survived her journey after it. Who knows what dark scheme she now harbors."
Apr 24, 2018 9:58 pm
The story of the cauldron and Nightblade didn't seem to relieve Darthon of his worries, on the contrary, he began to run a hand through his ravenblack hair and wrecked his mind to why Nightblade would be so interested in the inn to attack it. "I don't know. The goblins didn't seem like they had any supernatural strength to them, as tough as they were." the archer commented before looking back at the injured Eferneya. With his eyes sweeping over Fenya a flash of rememberance struck Darthon and he questioned "They did seem interested in the Wellspring, could that have something to do with the cauldron?".
Apr 25, 2018 2:28 pm
Fenya doesn't know, but he thinks he heard some muttering about going back to the cauldron as they left.
Apr 27, 2018 9:09 am
Eferneya listens attentively to Blackhawk and Darthon before she finally speaks.

"What exactly is our job here? I figure it has to do with this Nightblade woman and the mysterious cauldron..."
Apr 30, 2018 8:07 pm
Blackhawk catches Eferneya's tone, and he replies: "I sent word that I needed capable explorers to assist me in traveling to an ancient ruin within the forest. The denizens of the forest," he says, sweeping his hand in the direction of the front gate and the goblins beyond, "are a suspicious, secretive lot, and much danger can be found. I promised good pay, but I must admit, I afear leaving the good folks here in a time of crisis." He nods to Koldra and Tandrag. "If you can stop the goblins from attacking... let me rephrase. If you can assist me in dispersing these goblins and redirecting their energies elsewhere, I will double the promised pay. What say you?"
May 3, 2018 4:42 pm
With the siege they just managed to fend off, Darthon looked to his two allies and then managed to joke "With how things went, I say I will need more arrows.". His tone got a bit more serious as he said "We managed to send them off, but I don't think we gave them more than a bruise while we almost lost someone.", the person he meant rather obvious, he turned to her to ask for her opinion "What do you think we should do? If they come again we should be gone or have a damn good plan to have a chance.". Darthon himself wanted to help, but not at the cost of his friends lives.
May 3, 2018 6:35 pm
Bantalom did not want to brag, but the man was technically wrong. "Actually, that leader of theirs -- what did you call her, Nightblade? -- won't be forgetting those burns any time soon." He shrugs, then comments a little quieter. "You said they were only bruised; pretty sure that counts for a little bit more." He worded this very carefully to avoid taking credit. No need to go shouting about how he used so feared a discipline. Bantalom immediately regretted saying anything, even before Darthon had a chance to react.
May 4, 2018 2:07 am
"Nightfall. Nightfall we sally forth and find the goblin camp. By cover of darkness we see if we can find out what has them stirred up, and maybe drive them off or lead then away." He scratches his chin. "Of it is at all feasible anyway. I think there is more here than we know, and Is like to find out more before we decide what to do about it."
