Dazzle lifted a hand and tried to shield his eyes from the midday sun. He would gladly indebt himself to the next demon he could find if it meant he could be back in Waterdeep at this very moment, safely in the depths of a grimy tavern, already half-drunk and trusting his fate to the luck of the dice. But no, instead he was tromping about the countryside like a peasant, chasing down fairy tales to curry favour with useless townsfolk.

He sighed mightily and looked around for something -- anything -- that would help him survive the next ten minutes of boredom while Sorgrimm prayed for guidance or whatever.

Must we really be doing this, this early? I yawn.

Once the divination is complete I move to 30’ of the opening to see if I detect anything.

Felicia casts a sideways glance at Dazzle when he sighs.

A small smirk crosses her face.

Anyone who is looking around while rituals are being cast can make Perception checks.

Dazzle frowned. Then, his face lit up and he exclaimed, My name! Dazzle!

Felicia looks around, seeing what she can spot, trying to stifle a small chuckle.

Nothing! Dazzle shouts enthusiastically. Um, nothing is the matter, Xella. He grins at the gnome. Indeed, things are looking better for us than they ever have.

The party tests or casts glances around, but finding nothing of interest. A few vague traces that someone passed here recently.

Sorgrimm finishes his ritual and gets close enough to peek into the cave and sees within a stone door, slightly open, in the tunnel’s dim depths. The door bears chiseled marks that might have once been a name. Nothing magical catches his eye from there.

I cast dancing lights inside.

I will follow behind whoever has good perception and use my detect magic for the 10 minutes it’s good for to help spot any magic traps.

Inside, you see that the stone door is just open enough that a halfling or gnome might be able to shimmy inside.

"’Scuse me, let me take a look here..." The forest gnome holds her breath and attempts to slip behind the door.

Wait! Dazzle shouts just before Xella proceeds. Know that, in this moment, you are a shining beacon for the rest of us to follow. Your selfless bravery is the ideal for us to aspire to. No matter what horrible fate awaits you in this cave, rest eternally in the knowledge that your life has served a purpose. Now go, noble paladin, to your certain death. Dazzle sheds a single tear, holding a hand clasped over his heart.
OOC:
Dazzle is granting Xella Bardic Inspiration (+1d6): Once within the next 10 minutes, the creature can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes. The creature can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Bardic Inspiration die, but must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Bardic Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost.

"Thanks! Same to you, buddy!" She gives him a wink and a wave.

Bardically inspired, Xella squeezes through the door and sees a precarious pile of metal leaning against the door. Whole she can slip past alright, opening the door would make a huge racket.

Beyond the door, Xella sees a 30' rough halfway opening into a room, with a stone table in the middle. No other features are visible from the door.
