With the volly of arrows the first swarm dissipates. You see rats scurry off in several directions. The second swarm moves towards Bartholomew and enters his space. Rats begin climbing up his legs attempting to knaw and his armor and look for skin to sink their teeth into.

The rats are only able to sink their teeth into armor unable to do any damage before Bart is able to swat them back off of him.

The rats scurrying makes it difficult for the divine energy to catch the swarm, as it does with Bartholomew's attack. Harold does manage to take out a couple of the swarms many rats with his arrow.
